The nightmare Grendel holds the swords tightly before it spins its body,
Dray and Evelyn that are holding their swords tightly were caught off guard when they got pulled by the nightmare Grendel, and before they know it both of them got thrown away and crash into the tree behind them.
BAM!
“Wuahk!”, Dray spat a mouthful of blood as his internal organs shook.
The same goes for Evelyn who has blood leaking out of her mouth, but Dray instantly springs up as he saw the nightmare Grendel headed towards him.
In front of Dray’s eyes, the nightmare Grendel’s claws glow with Supernatural energy.
The claws also grow sharper as it glistens under the moonlight, this makes Dray put his senses to the max seeing that the nightmare Grendel was intending to kill him.
But then suddenly, “Where did he go?!”, Dray exclaimed in shock.
Just when the nightmare Grendel was about to collide with him, its body suddenly disappear from Dray’s sight, and out of nowhere,
STAB!
Dray gritted his teeth when the nightmare Grendel suddenly appears on his side,
The sudden increase in speed caught him off guard as the nightmare Grendel’s claws manage to stab right on Dray’s side, “Arrghh!”, he spat a mouthful of blood.
After getting stabbed, the nightmare Grendel punches Dray as he got flung away.
BAM!
Dray crashed to the side with four claws marks on the side of his body,
Blood can be seen penetrating through his armor from the four claw marks, he slowly gets up before he touches his side feeling his body hurting from the nightmare Grendel’s attack.
This all happened while Evelyn is getting attacked by the other two Grendels,
“Sound Magic! Shattering Soundwave!”
BANG!
Evelyn slammed her feet to the ground creating a soundwave,
The soundwave makes the space around Evelyn trembles as it pushes the two Grendels back, she then uses this gap to dash away intending to help Dray.
When the nightmare Grendel was about to attack Dray again,
Swoosh!
Evelyn appeared right behind the nightmare Grendel, her swords blazing with powerful fire mana as she swings horizontally, “Fire Demoness Art! The Beauty of Hell!”
SLASH!
She puts all her efforts into this swing of hers,
The fiery woman figure, Evelyn’s spirit appeared on her back amplifying the fire mana she emitted as she slash her sword intending to cut the nightmare Grendel in two.
From this angle, the nightmare Grendel shouldn’t be able to block it.
Not only does Evelyn manage to reach its back, but her movements are also fast and perfectly timed just when the nightmare Grendel was about to head to Dray again.
Looking at this from the side, ‘That attack can injure the nightmare Grendel’, Rex thought.
Rex saw something interesting from Evelyn’s sword,
The concentrated fire mana on her sword doesn’t cover the entirety of the sword, but she somehow manages to condense the fire mana on the sharp part of the sword only.
Just from a glance, Rex can feel that the sword’s power was amplified because of this.
‘With that unique attack using her mana control, the sword should be able to penetrate the nightmare Grendel’s thick skin but…’
Swoosh!
Evelyn widen her eyes when her sword misses the nightmare Grendel,
The nightmare Grendel suddenly jumped to dodge Evelyn’s attack as if it can see Evelyn’s attack that is right on its back, it then glance back at Evelyn with a nasty grin.
After dodging Evelyn’s attack, it suddenly moves in a bizarre way.
It twisted its body like a mad animal before it clawed Evelyn right on her head, the attack landed solidly as Evelyn crashed to the side without even reacting.
Before she can even recover, the nightmare Grendel already appeared right above her.
Its fists started to glow with the same energy as before, and then the nightmare Grendel punch Evelyn right on her stomach creating a web-like crack on the ground beneath her body.
BAM!
CRACK!
Even her full-plate armor cracked under the nightmare Grendel’s strength,
,m The punch landed directly on Evelyn’s stomach, it forced the blood out of her throat since the attack landed directly and was very heavy.
Dray appeared from the side like a gust of wind, “Compact Strike!”
Swoosh!
But his attack imbued with wind energy got blocked by the other two Grendels,
Under Rex’s watch from the side, the two Grendels pushed Dray back as the Nightmare Grendel grabbed Evelyn by her throat and throws her powerfully to the side.
Crash!
Evelyn crashes right beside Dray as they both got beaten by the Grendels,
The Nightmare Grendel cracked a grin as it looks at Dray and Evelyn menacingly, it’s clear that the Nightmare Grendel was underestimating the two.
‘Maybe 3 sixth rank Grendels are too much’, Rex thought while rubbing his chin.
But then suddenly,
RARGHH!
One of the sixth rank Grendels leaped towards Rex while contracting its arm powerfully, this attack was sudden making Rex shakes his head.
Splat!
Rex punches through the leaping Grendels’ chest with his fist,
The Grendel didn’t even see it coming before Rex’s fist torn through the middle of its chest, and just like that Rex pulls his fist out as the Grendel falls to the ground dead.
But right after that,
“Sound Frenzy!”
BOOM!
A soundwave was created from Evelyn’s hand as she dashes towards the other Grendel,
The soundwave that exploded from her hand propels her body forward making her movement even faster, her sword is already blazing like before as her eyes glisten fiercely.
SLASH!
Even with her fast attack, the Nightmare Grendel manages to block it.
But the same doesn’t go for the other Grendel beside it, the Grendel’s arms that try to block Evelyn’s attack got sliced off alongside its body.
It died after the upper half of its body slid to the ground,
Thud!
“Evelyn, Are you okay?”, Dray asks while still keeping his eyes on the nightmare Grendel.
Evelyn already jumped back to beside Dray after managing to kill the other Grendel,
Hearing this, Evelyn stabs her sword on the ground while supporting herself up, “I can still fight, that thing is very slippery and weird. It’s almost as if it can see its back”
“Look at that…”, Dray suddenly points at the nightmare Grendel.
The Nightmare Grendel is looking at the dead Grendel beside it furiously,
Because of that, the two catch a glimpse of the Nightmare Grendel’s back before their eyes widen in surprise upon seeing something on its back.
There’s an eye on its back,
Just like what Evelyn thought of earlier, the Nightmare Grendel’s movements are weird and this explains how the Nightmare Grendel manage to dodge Evelyn’s attack before.
‘This thing really has an all-around vision’, Evelyn thought.
This makes Evelyn and Dray hold their swords tighter,
Both of them don’t have any notion that they can win against this Nightmare Grendel, this Supernatural is just a bit too strong for them even though it’s a mid-sixth rank.
“Dray, stop focusing too much on its claws”, Rex suddenly shouted from the back.
The sudden shout from Rex attracts both of their attention,
Rex then continues, “You’re focusing too much on its claws that you didn’t even manage to predict its movement, that might just kill you one day”
After saying that, Rex then turns his gaze to Evelyn.
“As for Evelyn… Don’t close your eyes when that thing attacks, you’re faster than it but you got hit because you close your eyes when the attack was about to connect. Keep your eyes open, or you won’t be able to fair against it”
Hearing this, the both of them was surprised that Rex finds their fault easily.
They didn’t deny what Rex is saying as they also realized what Rex said is true, “That thing is not smarter than you, and you both have similar strength to that thing. Use your head, don’t let the pressure from the fight make you stop thinking”
Roar!
Without giving any more time, the nightmare Grendel attacks again.
It was heading straight to Evelyn intending to finish her first, but Evelyn’s sword burns with dark fire as she confronted the nightmare Grendel again.
Clang!!
A high clanging sound was created as her sword and the nightmare Grendel’s claws collided.
Evelyn steps on the ground roughly as she pushes the nightmare Grendel back, she then swings downwards with her blazing sword but the nightmare Grendel twists its body to dodge.
The nightmare Grendel manages to dodge her attack as it thrust its claws to Evelyn’s face.
From this alone, Rex found that the nightmare Grendel has a really terrifying sense of battle as it adapts to the enemies and exploited their weakness.
Evelyn widen her eyes when she saw the claws are heading toward her eyes,
She wanted to keep her eyes opened but her body reflex beats her, but Dray saw this from the side as he jumped to help,
SLASH!
Roar!!
The nightmare Grendel roars as Dray manages to land an attack thanks to his decisive movement, he slashes at the long arm of the nightmare Grendel leaving a deep cut on it.
Upon getting cut, the nightmare Grendel becomes crazed.
It started to attack Dray and Evelyn berserkly swinging its arms madly, this makes the three of them locked in combat as they kept dodging and attacking each other.
CLANG!
CLANG!
The sounds of their swords clashing with the Nightmare Grendel’s skin resounded in the place, and under Rex’s watch the Nightmare Grendel got overwhelmed by them.
But the Nightmare Grendel still put up a good fight and landed a few solid hits,
Clang!
Dray’s sword got parried by the Nightmare Grendel’s claws pushing him back, the Nightmare Grendel’s eyes then flashes as it attacks Evelyn with its claws.
Evelyn saw the Nightmare Grendel’s claws arrive near her face again,
But unlike before and thanks to what Rex said earlier, Evelyn gritted her teeth as she tries desperately to keep her eyes open looking directly at the approaching claws.
In the nick of time, Evelyn tilts her head to dodge the claws.
She then counters with her sword as her sword cut through the thick black skin of the Nightmare Grendel, it roars painfully as it intended to jump away,
But Dray was not going to let that happen,
“Where did you think you’re going?”
Dray saw that the nightmare Grendel was about to make space between them just from looking at its legs, he intercepted it from below when the nightmare Grendel leaped away.
Although the nightmare Grendel has perfect 360 vision,
The blind spot of the nightmare Grendel’s perfect vision is attacking from above or below when it has its body straight, unlike Intuma which literally has no blind spot the nightmare Grendel doesn’t have that absolute vision.
SLASH!
Dray’s sword landed right on the nightmare Grendel’s stomach,
But since the nightmare Grendel is very sturdy with its thick skin, Dray’s sword didn’t manage to cut through as easily since he’s trying to keep up with the Nightmare Grendel’s speed.
He’s using wind mana to enhance his agility, and thus he’s starting to get exhausted.
The nightmare Grendel landed on the ground before it dashes to Dray again, they both got locked exchanging blows fiercely.
BOOM!
The nightmare Grendel swings its claws down with a wide swing,
Looking at this, Dray reacted by stepping to the side to dodge it before he went inside the Nightmare Grendel’s defense and stabs his sword from below.
He’s trying to catch the nightmare Grendel off guard, but it didn’t work.
It’s a plausible plan of attack since the Nightmare Grendel’s arms are long, so getting very close to it will put the Nightmare Grendel at a disadvantage.
The nightmare Grendel jumped up to dodge Dray’s stab,
But suddenly, Dray quirked up a smile as he cracked the ground blasting it with wind mana.
The wind mana that blasted from the ground hovers around Dray’s body creating a spiral tornado around Dray’s body, “Disposition of Wind Technique, Final Form!”
Swish!
Dray looked up with his eyes turned green before he leaped with all his strength,
With his spiral of wind following his body and concentrating on his sword, Dray slashes the Nightmare Grendel that was restrained by the wind in its spot, “Abstruse Wind of Agony!”
SLASH!
ROAR!
The nightmare Grendel roared as it got slashed by Dray’s sword,
It got propelled to the ground with a sword cut starting from just below its chin all the way to its stomach, red blood also gushed out from the sword cut as it seems to be deep.
Dray manages to predict its movement and uses his art to injure the nightmare Grendel.
Before the Nightmare Grendel can stand back up,
“Fire Demoness Art, Cacophony of Fire!”
BOOM!
A powerful fire shockwave blasted from Evelyn’s body and it scorched the nightmare Grendel’s body, the sword cut becomes even gorier as it got burned by the fire shockwave.
It wails painfully as it’s certainly got hurt from this,
But the nightmare Grendel musters its remaining strength as it sprung back up and intends to escape, but this doesn’t escape Evelyn’s eyes.
Evelyn dashes at the nightmare Grendel,
The nightmare Grendel swung its arm to swat Evelyn away, but she already anticipated this and dodge it easily before she manage to reach the nightmare Grendel’s front.
Roar!
With eyes burning with fire, “Beauty of Hell!”
Evelyn and the nightmare Grendel dashes past each other in a flash, they both stood on their grounds for a moment before Evelyn straighten her back.
She unsheathed her sword but while she was doing this,
ROAR!
There’s a blazing sword cut on the nightmare Grendel’s body, it roars painfully before the upper half of its body falls down after getting cut horizontally by Evelyn.
Right when Evelyn unsheathed her sword making a clicking sound,
The nightmare Grendel dropped dead after blood burst from its body, Evelyn aims for the sword cut from Dray’s attack earlier and this manages to kill the Nightmare Grendel.
Its neck got slit halfway before it dropped dead to the ground,
Because of that, the fight is over and Evelyn was a bit surprised she can finish that thing off.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
Rex claps from the side as he approached the both of them, he then tossed a vial to Dray who has a nasty wound on the side of his body.
He can even hardly stands up because of it,
Dray drinks the vial after realizing that it’s a healing elixir, he stands up with difficulty before he looks at Rex and asks, “I can’t believe that with those flaws you point out, fighting that thing becomes immensely easier”
“I’m also surprised, just how did you spot our flaws that quick”, Evelyn mutters in disbelief.
Hearing this, Rex shrugs his shoulders as he replied, “If you ask how I catch your flaws, all I can say is that its easier to point out flaws that I already fixed”
“Doesn’t that mean…”, Dray mumbles,
But Rex intervenes, “Yes, just like you both I also has those flaws back then. I already fixed it now, so I can spot your flaws easily”
“Bad instincts and reflexes are the hardest things to fix, just like both of your flaws that are just natural instincts and reflexes of the body. Closing your eyes is the body’s protection reflex, the same goes for focusing too much on the most dangerous part of the enemy”
“It can hinder your full potential and need to be fixed, and as you can see. With that out of the way, now even one of you can probably take on that Grendel alone”
Evelyn and Dray listened attentively to what Rex said,
He’s after all acknowledged to be one of the strongest amongst the descendants, or maybe even the strongest out of all the descendants.
After finishing the fight here,
They all mounted Delta again before they head back to the human territory, with Delta’s speed they should arrive tomorrow when the sun is at its highest.
A bit later, the sun is already up and they arrived back at the entrance of the cave.
It’s harder to went past the Cessation Knight when the sun is up, the amount of Cessation Knight walking around increases and this prolongs their travel back to the cave entrance.
Rex signals for Delta to stop right in front of the cave’s mouth,
He ducked down to the ground before he frowns when he saw the wire that he puts there snapped, ‘Something went through this place…’, Rex thought.
Just like that, Rex stands up while looking around warily.
There’s a lingering scent of the thing that went past the cave’s mouth, and Rex finds the smell familiar to the black panther demon that he saw earlier, ‘Demons…’
‘Its aura and scent are very faint, if not for the wire I might now sense them’, Rex thought.
Realizing that he’s dealing with Demons, Rex looks in the others direction with a serious expression that cannot be hidden by him at all.
“Did the wire break?”, Evelyn asks in concern.
Hearing this, Dray also frown before Rex said, “Delta, get out of here and find a place to hide before I came back”, he then turns his eyes to Gistella and commanded, “Keep alert, both of them can be in a very grave danger”
Looking at Rex’s serious expression, the two frown.
Although they just roam the Supernatural territory where much of the danger lies, Rex didn’t look this serious at all which shows that the situation right now is very dangerous.
With a light voice, Evelyn asks, “What is it, Rex?”
“Why are you handling this alone? We both can help, sticking together will surely increase the odds of us leaving this place safely”, Dray added from the side.
But Rex shakes his head firmly, “You might be confident for beating the Grendel before”
“This time is different, the Supernatural lurking around here is not an unintelligent one like the Grendel. It’s on a whole new level and you both are not ready to confront them”, Rex added.
Hearing this, Evelyn and Dray look at Rex questioningly.
Rex’s face darkened as he unsheathed both of his swords slowly, “Its Demons, they are lurking around here…”, he mutters lightly as his eyes darted left and right.
The two widen their eyes as they heard what Rex said,
Demons are a Supernatural made for fighting, they can’t be killed easily and with the emergence of the blue demons, they become the most terrifying race currently.
“They’re not some lower rank demon either, and the two of you don’t have a chance at all”
“You’ll just be a hindrance if you help me fight them, so just get out of here and wait for me. If I didn’t come back in half an hour, leave this place”, he said decisively exposing his killing intent.
