‘This is going to be a problem’, Rex thought with a frown.
The last Awakened condition is clearly got better than before thanks to the procedure, but it still fails to cleanse the Pure Death Energy completely.
Just from a glance, Rex can see the Pure Death Energy started to move again.
It started to spread again albeit slowly which is supposed to be the effect of the procedure, the Pure Death Energy is weakened because of it.
“Let me try it again”, Evelyn mumbles as she intends to do the spell again.
But Rex stopped her and mutters dejectedly, “It won’t work the second time, the Pure Death Energy already adapted and becomes stronger”
“Then what should we do? He’s not going to make it”, Evelyn replied in concern.
Rex glance at the Awakened with a reluctant expression, even the system can’t do anything about the situation so Rex can’t really think of any solution to save this Awakened.
But when Rex is thinking, Valery suddenly opens her eyes slowly.
She adjusted to the lighting of the room which is filled with white color before her eyes landed on Rex who is standing beside her, she also saw Evelyn with a worried look.
After collecting herself, Valery suddenly jolted awake as she grabs her stomach.
Valery checked her flat stomach by rubbing all over it using her hands, she even checked the back part before her eyes landed on Rex and Evelyn, “What happened?”
“I remember I got stabbed by that monster!”, she added with a horrified look.
Hearing this, Evelyn holds Valery’s hand to calm her down as she replied, “You’re on your deathbed just now, I thought that you really going to die but Rex thankfully has a way to treat you so you’re going to be fine”
Valery’s expression turns pale as Evelyn just said that she was about to die,
She then lifts up her shirt and saw the scar from the stab is still there, but it’s not blackened anymore as it looks like a normal sword scar with no sign of the Pure Death Energy.
This makes her sigh in relief, at least she didn’t really die.
Although she’s from a lower rank family than the Burton Family, she’s still stronger than Dray as she’s a peak sixth rank Awakened but even so she almost died from the Death Knight.
If Rex’s team were the ones that fought the Death Knight,
Rex will definitely not be able to save them all, casualties are imminent.
Even when fighting Durrant before, Rex made the right choice by fighting the seventh rank Durrant alone so he can use his Werewolf form.
If not then fighting Durrant is almost out of the option,
“T-Thank you…”, Valery bowed her head slightly thanking Rex for saving her life.
But Rex’s mind is not focusing on her right now as he’s looking at the other dying Awakened, he then finally said, “The wound is healed, but you should rest some more”
“Evelyn, I need to talk to you”, Rex added before Evelyn nodded her head.
After leaving the room, Rex then grabs Evelyn’s hand before he pulls her to a quieter place since the nurses are walking around the hallway.
Evelyn blushed upon seeing that she was holding hand with Rex,
Rex then puts her against the wall before he looks at her with a serious expression, and this wiped the blush out of Evelyn’s face as she said, “You’re using your business look again”
“What do you want to ask?”, she added, crossing her arms in front of her.
Hearing this, Rex ignores her remarks and asks, “Gerrard and his family, How much do you know about them? I need to know before I make a decision”
“Macias Family? Are you mad?”, Evelyn widen her eyes as she looks at Rex in disbelief.
But Rex is not joking around as he looks at Evelyn questioningly, this makes Evelyn looks around in worry as she said, “It’s a taboo to talk about the Macias Family, they have ears everywhere!”
“Okay fine just answer me this…”, Rex said.
He then continues, “If I were to put the blame on Gerrard, will the Macias Family make a move on me? Is the head of the family impulsive like Wesley Atkins?”
“Even my father only knew little of the head of the Macias Family”, Evelyn mutters lightly.
She then added, “The Macias Family works in a seclusive way and there’s no certainty in what the head of the family will do, but I suggest not to do anything rash against them. They’re dangerous people, I can’t bear if you suddenly disappear if you do anything that can provoke them”
Evelyn’s answer makes Rex frown as he didn’t expect even Evelyn to not know many of this so-called first rank family of the Golden Crest Family.
She usually has all the information, but it seems the Macias Family is another matter.
‘It might sound cruel, but there’s no other choice’, he thought reassuring himself.
Even the decision that Rex was about to do makes him think twice since it’s slightly immoral even for him, but on the other hand, is the unknown Macias Family and he was not going to gamble.
A moment later,

There’s holy energy encompassing the dying Awakened’s body, the holy energy suppressed the Pure Death Energy as its spreading speed become even slower.
“Are you sure it’s going to be okay? It’s pretty cruel”, Evelyn said from the side.
Hearing this, Rex shakes his head as he already reassures himself, “You said it yourself earlier. Between this and provoking the Macias Family, It’s clear that this is a better option”
Rex just thought of a plan that he didn’t like to do but had to do,
He asks the system for a way to prolong this Awakened’s death by slowing down the spreading of the Pure Death Energy, it will buy time for Rex upon reporting back to the UWO.
With this, the Awakened can function normally but his life will not last long.
‘The UWO said that there should be no casualty from the mission, if it’s after the mission then it won’t matter. I’m sorry but I can’t help you’, Rex thought as he turns to leave the room.
One year under Sebrof will not be a good thing for Rex,
It will only prolong his progress in becoming stronger, and Sebrof will definitely restrict his movement which will hinder his improvements.
Leaving the room, Rex stopped for a moment.
‘Now that I think about it, I wonder what the others are doing back at the university. With the black hands and the Reed Family, the Atkins Family shouldn’t be able to do anything. Should I just asks them just in case?’
‘I should be thankful to Daniel Burton for unintendingly restricted Wesley’, Rex thought.
But before he can take out his phone, Evelyn came out of the room.
“When will we depart back to Ratmawati City?”, she asks.
Hearing this, Rex thought for a moment before he rubs his chin, “I need to go somewhere first, so I think we’ll depart back after I came back”
Since he will need to report to the UWO,
Rex needs to go back together with the other descendants, he can’t just send the descendants back first with him as one of their leaders.
“Where are you going? Can I come?”, Evelyn asks pleadingly.
But Rex shakes his head firmly, “No, I’m going somewhere very dangerous and I’m not going to risk putting you in that danger. Stay here with the others”
Evelyn pouted upon hearing this,
“You look down on me too much, didn’t I show you earlier that I’m a dual Elementalist? I can handle my own you know”, Evelyn said attracting Rex’s attention to her.
Rex looks at her and said, “Now that you mention it, you haven’t explained that”
Both of them walk side by side as they went back to the resting quarter, the hospital is near the hotel so they decided to just walk there and enjoy the sunlight.
While they’re walking, Evelyn explains to Rex about the dual element she possesses.
Turns out Evelyn has a fateful encounter during the Supernatural Emergence, she got somekind of gift when the Supernatural Emergence happened where she ate a mutated fruit that attracts two powerful mutated animals.
One of the mutated animals is a bat,
Since the fruit seem to attract both powerful mutated animals, the two powerful mutated animals feel threatened by the others’ existence and decided to fight to the death.
This results in both of them dying,
Both of the mutated animals fall from the sky and the mutated bat landed right beside Evelyn, their humongous bodies almost crushed Evelyn but she thankfully didn’t get squished.
But the bat landed so near her that the blood coming from its wounds drenched her,
“I swallowed the blood of the bat and the energy from the fruit inside me started to make my body burns, and before I knew it I gain the affinity of sound alongside my affinity to fire”, Evelyn explained making Rex widen his eyes in surprise.
Rex listened to this and finds her story interesting,
“The fruit should be called Devouring Harmony Fruit. When someone eats the fruit, the fruit will then devour power from anything the eater touch or in your case swallow and makes the power its own”, Rex explains, he already asks the system and find the fruit Evelyn is talking about.
He’s even surprised that the fruit costs about 50,000 gold, which is a lot.
Hearing this, Evelyn looks at Rex with a suspicious look as she asks, “How are you so knowledgeable about this stuff, you even know about the Undead customs. Don’t tell me…”
“You’re actually hundreds of years old!”, she exclaimed in shock.
But this makes Rex slap the back of her head making her grab her head pouting, “What are you spouting? I just research a lot since I turn like this”, Rex lied.
“You don’t need to hit my head”, Evelyn replied as she kept rubbing her head still pouting.
It didn’t take long for the two of them to reach the hotel as they both walks inside,
Rex instantly went to Gerrard’s room and notify him that he will be gone to inspect the secret route of the Undead, he uses gathering information for the UWO as an excuse.
This is why they will depart back in a couple of days while the others rest.
Rex then went to the restaurant section since he saw Liliya and Velten sitting there when he walked past them heading to Gerrard’s room, he was about to ask Liliya and Velten about what they were going to do.
Upon arriving at the restaurant section with Evelyn by his side,
Both of them went straight to where Velten and Liliya are sitting, but Evelyn can’t help but notice something as she whispers, “Rex, They’re looking at you”
“What do you mean?”, Rex asks as he looks around.
But then he suddenly saw the descendants from Gerrard’s team were looking at him, they even whisper amongst themselves and Rex can hear them clearly.
“Isn’t he a sixth rank? How did he manage to kill that seventh rank Undead?”
“It’s very hard to believe…that monster’s aura even shot up to the sky!”
“Well, I’m grateful that he manages to kill that Undead so we won’t have to. Fighting that Death Knight is horrifying, we surely can’t deal with the seventh rank after that”
“Did he kill that seventh rank Undead alone? How come there’s no one from his team got injured badly?”
“Now that you mention it…”
The descendants look at Rex with curious gazes as they make an assumption about him, but their assumption is not wrong though since he really did kill Durrant alone.
Hearing their whispering, Rex shakes his head.
Unknown to him, something happened when Gerrard’s team checked the battlefield.

“Search for the seventh rank Undead carcass, and see if you can find the ones who did this”, Gerrard said before the other descendants spread around the battlefield.
The battlefield is pretty massive but with their numbers, they can cover it easily.
One of the descendants then called for Gerrard,
Hearing his name being called, Gerrard dashes in the voice direction before he saw a descendant standing in front of the blackened ground.
“The energy coming from this spot is massive”, the descendants said.
Gerrard approaches the blackened ground and he also felt the abundance of Death Energy in this spot, but he also senses something else, not just the Death Energy, “What happened here…”, Gerrard mutters as he touches the blackened ground.
He can feel the blackened ground is warmer, and this shouldn’t be caused by Death Energy.
Gerrard can’t put it in words but the energy here is weird, but he’s familiar with this energy but he can’t quite put his finger on it.
“This should be the spot of the seventh rank Undead, but there’s no carcass. The only explanation is the body disintegrates in this spot”, the descendant said.
But this makes Gerrard shakes his head, “That’s not possible”
“There are no Awakened of such caliber in this place. To actually disintegrate a seventh rank Undead body will need massive mana, only the eighth rank Awakened can do that”, he added.
Then, another descendant suddenly called him.
Gerrard dashes to the voice direction again and finds that Valery is the one that called him and she’s standing beside an arm on the ground that is very big.
He instantly realizes that it belongs to the seventh rank Undead, Durrant.
It’s the arm that Rex cut off before Durrant uses the forbidden spell,
Rex forgot to take it with him since Gerrard’s team arrived there, it won’t be ideal for Gerrard to spot Gistella and the woman who now looks like a regular person.
It won’t be logical for Rex to keep these two alive while fighting against a seventh rank Undead.
Gerrard crouched down as he inspected the arm,
He turns the arm over and concluded, “It’s an Awakened alright, this arm got chopped off by a silver sword. There’s only a handful of us that brought a silver sword”
“You don’t mean…”, Valery mutters in shock.
Gerrard then continues, “This should be Rex’s doing, he’s the main suspect”
“That shouldn’t be possible, right? He’s only equivalent to a peak sixth rank power, there’s no way he can beat a seventh rank Undead”, Valery said in disbelief.
But the proof is right in front of her eyes, and she can’t deny it.
Gerrard then stands up before he instructed, “Gather around, we’re going to move to the next company. Since the seventh rank Undead has been dealt with by Rex, the rest should be easy”
Right, when Gerrard and the descendants were about to leave,
Swoosh!
All of them jolted when the decapitated arm suddenly flew past them, the arm heads to the blackened ground before it levitates just above it.
Looking at this, they all are confused including Gerrard.
The arm is emitting the weird energy that Gerrard is feeling aside from the Death Energy, and the weird energy seeped onto the black ground and disappear.
But then suddenly,
BOOM!
A dark light blasted from the ground going all the way up to the sky with immense energy.
Gerrard whose body is already protected by light mana was surprised that even he got pushed back by the energy, he then summons his spirit but the energy is too strong.
It’s like he’s nothing in front of this weird energy,
“What the hell is that?!”, he exclaims in shock.
Under everyone’s eyes, an astral projection of the arm got separated from the actual arm before the astral projection got scorched by the dark light and disintegrates into nothingness.
The arm also disintegrates alongside the astral projection,
It didn’t take long before the dark light disappears leaving the place in silence.
Gerrard and the descendants recover before they look at the sky, but there’s a shocked expression on everyone’s faces including Gerrard’s.
“That’s the power of the seventh rank Undead?!”
“Rex killed that thing? There’s no way right? It’s too powerful!”
But Gerrard has other things in mind as he looks at the sky, “That’s not a seventh rank aura, that aura didn’t belong to an Undead. Just what in the hell happened here?”
