“Rex!”, Tyrice called out while heading to the house Rex is in.
He’s not alone, there’s Dray beside him who accompany Tyrice to find Rex.
The both of them knock on the house before they open the door, they are then instantly greeted by Gistella standing at the end of the hallway near the stairs.
Looking at her, a smile crept on Tyrice’s face but soon fades.
Rex is walking down the stairs already clad in his black armor again while looking at Tyrice, the subtle look makes Tyrice straighten his back unconsciously.
Dray who also enters the room saw that Evelyn soon follows Rex down the stairs.
She’s tying her red hair into a ponytail, she hasn’t worn her helmet yet and this makes Dray frown for a bit looking at Evelyn so close to Rex.
“Did something happen?”, Rex asks approaching the two.
Hearing Rex’s voice, Dray snapped out of his daze before Tyrice on the side answered, “I spotted the SCO team entering the vicinity, they should be around here in a minute or two”
“The SCO? Alright, gather the others around”, Rex said walking past the two.
After Rex left the house followed by Gistella who sticks to his side, Evelyn was also about to leave the house but Dray suddenly caught her arm.
Evelyn glanced at Dray in confusion, “Dray? What’s wrong?”
Dray has a hesitant look on his face, but he eventually looks at Evelyn’s eyes before he said, “What were you doing with Rex upstairs? Your armor is loose”
Because of wearing the armor hurriedly, Evelyn’s armor is a bit crooked.
“Huh? Dray… I thought we already passed this”, Evelyn replied while shaking her head.
She then looks at Dray directly in his eyes before she added, “We don’t have anything going on between the two of us, and as for your question, nothing happened between me and Rex”
“And even if something did happen, it’s none of your business”
Evelyn shrugs Dray’s hand off of her before she proceeded to walk away, while Dray on the other hand is standing still on his spot with a troubled look.
It didn’t take long for the descendants to gather around,
Tyrice called on them one by one waking them all up except for Fordie, the descendants are all already standing in front of Rex in an orderly manner.
Rex was even quite impressed, ‘Fear is the best chain of command’
During the military, the sergeant major once said that phrase, and based on how the descendants are acting right now it seems the Seargent major is right.
The others seem to also find out about him killing a seventh rank Undead,
Rex can clearly see the change of air around them, Tyrice or even the others that saw Durrant’s head probably told the rest of the descendants about this.
Before Rex says anything, he already told Tyrice to intercept the SCO’s team and bring them here.
Although Rex already told the Green Messenger to bring the same amount of people as the 25 Golden Crest Families, he still doesn’t know how many black hands were sent here.
Or even which team they are from,
So first Rex needs to meet with the SCO team before splitting them to help Gerrard’s team.
“The SCO team will be arriving soon”, Rex said crossing his arms in front of him.
He then added, “The timing couldn’t be more perfect, I know someone in the SCO team so we’ll move after Tyrice brings them here. Just like I said before, we’ll attack the company Dray found before the ones Seve found”
While saying this, Rex suddenly realizes something, ‘Wait, Why didn’t I ask Gistella?’
Rex glance at Gistella beside him before he brings Gistella to the side briefly, he then asks, “You’re a part of the Undead before, so you must know about the situation”
Hearing this, Gistella looks at Rex before she nods lightly.
The affirmation makes Rex face-palm himself before he asks, “What is the situation for the Undead? When is the reinforcement expected to come?”
,m Gistella looks down for a moment before she sighs,
Although she hid it pretty well, Rex saw some hesitation in her expression.
‘Well she’s an Undead a couple of hours ago, I’m not going to give her a harsh time because of this’, Rex thought while looking at Gistella questioningly.
She then finally said, “Durrant has been contacted that the reinforcement is on their way”
“The reinforcement should come by the end of the day, but Durrant already expected them to be late with the humans paying close attention to the stronghold”
Rex nodded his head in acknowledgment, ‘they came so soon, but it’s fine’
In a war such as this, the leader should always anticipate the worst-case scenario.
Durrant’s way of thinking is logical and Rex somewhat has to acknowledge that fact, he then asks again, “How about the two companies of Undead? Who is leading them?”
Under Rex’s gaze that emits pressure that makes Gistella obedient,
“O-one of the company is lead by a peak sixth rank, Intuma the Carrion of Dread. But since you even kill Durrant, it’s not going to be a problem”, Gistella explained.
She then added while looking to the side, “As for the last one…”
A moment later,
The SCO teams arrived at the city Rex and the descendants are currently in,
Rex looks at the team that the SCO sent and finds that there are roughly thirty people, the black hand that is sent comes from the green, red, and white teams.
Each of the teams they represented is distinct from each other thanks to their outfit color.
All of the black hands are strapped in the SCO outfits corresponding to the team of messengers they’re a part of and also each of them has a gun on their waist.
Rex saw this and realized that they are the guns the Green Messenger gave him before.
Seeing that each of the black hands has a gun on their waist, it seems the mass production of the gun the Green Messenger invented is going well.
Amongst the black hands, Rex finds Liliya as she walks toward him.
“Took you long enough, are you going to let us take care of the Undead by ourselves?”, Rex joked making Liliya who just arrived chuckle.
She then said, “You teleported here, we, on the other hand, need to go by foot”
After exchanging a few words, Rex glance to the back and find two black hands wearing red and white outfit that seems to be representative of the white and red teams.
“Rex, this is the representative from the white and red teams. Fakhir…”
Liliya points at the guy wearing a red outfit that is quite muscular, this guy’s body is filled with scars, Rex can see a couple of long cuts on Fakhir’s arms.
She then points at the guy beside Fakhir and said, “and this is Velten”
Rex glance at Velten and found that he’s the weirdest out of the two, Velten’s eyes are calm and collected emitting little to no aura.
The thing that catches Rex the most is the white symbol on Velten’s forehead.
It is shaped like a feather with its tail intertwine creating an infinity symbol, it looks cool.
After glancing at the two, Rex scans them and finds that they both have a mid-sixth rank power while Liliya is the weakest having an early sixth rank power.
From the system scans,
Fakhir turns out to have the power of beast transformation, but the system didn’t provide what the beast he will turn into but it’s surely somekind of a power boost for Fakhir.
While Velten’s power is pretty unique, he has weapon creation ability.
Just like Fakhir, the system didn’t provide what is the extent of the weapon creation ability Velten possesses but judging from his scrawny figure compared to Fakhir.
It seems Velten likes to do long-range weapons,
“You must be Rex Silverstar, I heard quite a lot about you from Liliya here”, Fakhir said with a friendly smile, his smile shows a row of perfectly line teeth.
Velten on the side also smiles faintly, “Care to brief us on the situation?”
About fifteen minutes later, Rex had already briefed them about the situation including the death of the seventh rank Undead and its company.
The company of Undead in the forest is being dealt with by Gerrard’s team,
‘I probably can deal with the rest of the company that is lead by the peak sixth rank Undead, but the other one might be a huge problem’, Rex thought with a frown.
He then glances at Velten, ‘I probably need him more than Fakhir’
Four company was left after Rex takes out Durrant’s company, and he then finally said, “Liliya and Velten’s team will come with me, Fakhir’s team will help Gerrard in the forest”
Although they just met, the three of them instantly recognize Rex as the highest command.
There’s no clear saying that Rex is the highest in command, but it all just flows naturally especially since they know Rex takes out a seventh rank Undead.
After instructing them, Rex glance to the side and find something interesting.
The descendants and the black hands are glaring at each other as a clear tension rises between them, it makes Rex shakes his head with a wry smile.
It didn’t surprise Rex though since he already anticipated something like this.
Even though the SCO and the UWO are about to ally with each other for the better good, the years of conflict they had is embedded deeply.
This can be seen through the youngsters from each side,
“What are you guys doing? Stop glaring or I’ll knock your teeth in”, Fakhir said to his team.
Velten and Liliya also do the same to ease the tension between them, while Rex only needs to give the descendants one warning look before they averted their gaze from the black hands.
His authority here is already established, and this makes Rex satisfied.
Rex and the descendants coupled with Liliya and Velten’s team prepares to leave the city, but just like before Rex has to leave some of them behind.
The survivors already found a place to hide, but some wandering Undead might massacre them.
“I’m so excited! I really want to punch some Undead today!”, Tyrice exclaimed, clenching his hands while talking to his brother but this instead caught Rex’s attention.
Rex glance at Tyrice and said, “Metal Elementalist guy, you stay here”
“Eh…? WHAAT?!”, It takes a moment for Tyrice to process what Rex said before he exclaimed in disbelief, he becomes a lookout while the others descendants rest.
He’s even the one that is left behind to guard the survivors while the others scout.
Although staying here in the city with the survivors is the safest place to be, Tyrice still seeks some action but his hope was crushed by the words coming from Rex’s mouth.
“You and your brother can stay here, the survivors seem to like you”, Rex added.
The excitement in Tyrice’s eyes dimmed as his shoulders slouched, without having no other choice Tyrice can only nod his head with a sigh.
Rex’s, Liliya, and Velten’s team moved out of the city.
They part ways with Fakhir who headed towards the forest to help Gerrard’s team while they will deal with the other two Undead companies that Dray and Seve found.
The sun is already up signing that a new day has begun,
Rex and the descendants coupled with Liliya and Velten’s teams are dashing in the direction of the Undead company led by Dray.
One dash from them covers hundreds of feet, it won’t take long to arrive at the place.
About half an hour later,
“HUMANS!!”, a rough-looking Undead roared while pointing its bastard saber to his front.
This rough-looking Undead is massive towering from the other Undead, it has many heads scattered around its hulking body with red glowing eyes.
Even its bastard sword is very big even seeing it from afar.
All of the Undead under the leadership of the rough-looking Undead that Gistella called Intuma glance to the side after hearing their leader roar angrily.
The liches under the company of Undead are numerous,
They amounted to at least a couple of hundred as they chanted together, it didn’t take long before a couple of huge ice swords appear in the sky as the liches chanted.
Seeing this, Velten and the white team steps forward.
Eleven black hands from the white team excluding Velten kneeled with one leg on the ground, they positioned themselves before the white symbol on Velten’s forehead glows.
White energy gathers on the eleven black hands before materializing into a gun.
The gun looks similar to a sniper rifle, at least in the design of the gun.
After the black hands grab the gun and aimed at the army of thousands of Undead charging at them, Velten points at his front and signaled, “FIRE!”
SWISH!
BOOM!!
Instead of piercing the army of Undead like a normal sniper rifle,
The bullets that blasted from the guns create a thundering sound, and upon contact, the bullet made of white energy explodes sending dozens of Undead flying from one bullet.
Even fifth rank Undead got killed instantly from the explosion.
BOOM!
BOOM!
Hundreds of Undead fall as the white team rain exploding bullets on them.
Seeing this, the liches didn’t sit still as they swings the huge ice swords made from their spells toward Rex and the others.
Liliya and her team move,
About the same number of black hands dashes forward as each of them has a glowing red mark on their bodies, just from a glance Rex already knows that the red mark is Liliya’s doing.
CRASH!
The black hands from the green team collided with the ice swords.
With a bit of struggle and thanks to the red mark amplifying their strength, the ice swords shatter from each of their attacks.
After destroying the ice swords,
A huge red mark appears on the ground beneath the charging army of Undead as Liliya’s body glowed with a red aura, she points her hand forward before she chanted, “Ghastly Detonation Mark”
BOOM!
A powerful explosion blasted the Undead killing hundreds in one swoop.
The liches saw this coming as they cover themselves with a magic barrier, some of the Undead around them were also protected but the others outside the magic barrier got obliterated.
RAARGH!
GRAAH!
Rex is nodding his head watching from the side, ‘Liliya’s mark has grown stronger’
Seeing the black hands showing off their powers, Rex cracked his fist as his battle intent riled up, “Are you guys going to stand there and just watch?”, he said to the descendants.
“I thought you’re a sucker for losing especially against the black hands”, he added.
Hearing this, the descendants snapped out of their daze.
Liliya glance at Rex with a smile after blasting the army of Undead,
The smile makes Rex wave his hand as Liliya chuckles, “You guys are making me look bad”
“You’re in my team so don’t lose out, let’s show them what we got!”, Rex said before his body turns into a streak of black lightning.
