Chapter 358: The Chains Of Blood And Light

As Alister began to take his leave, a deep voice suddenly echoed through the air, halting him in his tracks.

“To pay a visit to our kin but not even spare your brother the thought of seeing him,”

“I knew you’ve lost your memory, brother, but this is cold—even for you.”

FIZZLE

In the next instant, the serene fields dissolved into a haze, the vibrant colors draining away as

if rinsed from existence. When Alister’s vision cleared, he found himself standing in a massive, cavernous space.

The floor beneath him was unnerving-a crimson sea of blood that rippled gently as though alive, yet somehow held his weight.

Suspended atop its surface, he remained steady, though the air was filled with the metallic smell of iron and despair.

His golden eyes instinctively locked onto a figure in the distance, Alameck. The man sat proudly atop the corpse of a massive white and gold dragon. It was lifeless, its hollow, empty sockets leaking streams of blood, and its mouth hung open as more of the viscous liquid dripped down like a waterfall.

Surrounding them, stretching into the darkened void, were towering pillars. Each one was etched with runes and with strange objects, items that hovered atop them, each with their own history.

Alameck glanced down at Alister, a cruel smile spreading across his face.

“Don’t you just love what I’ve done with the place?”

“Considering this is my new home now, I had to get comfortable.” He suddenly teleported, appearing beside one of the pillars.

“These pillars, brother, hold the remnants of each of the worlds I destroyed—a memento to remind me of the beauty of my work.” his folded his arms behind him as he gazed at them with a sinister smile.

“Traces of my past accomplishments that fill me with an immense sense of pride.”

Alameck then teleported back atop the dragon, crossing his legs as he sat.

Alister’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing as he gazed the dragon beneath Alameck.

“And the dragon?” he asked, his voice cold, though the sight stirred something deeply within him, a memory perhaps.

Alameck chuckled darkly, tapping the lifeless dragon’s head playfully.

“Oh, this?”

He asked lightly, as though discussing a mere trinket.

“It’s you, brother, all bloody, battered, and defeated. Beautiful, isn’t it? A true masterpiece.”

He leaned back, his gaze savoring the scene. “A shame it isn’t the real deal, but in this

world….your world, one within your mind… it’s amazing enough.”

“Though I’m never one to settle for second best, so I’ll be coming for the real deal soon enough.”

Alister’s golden eyes narrowed, his voice cold.

“Is that supposed to be a threat?”

Alameck’s smile widened.

“Not a threat, dear brother…”

“A declaration.”

Alister’s lips curled into a smirk, and suddenly he began to laugh—a deep, mocking laugh that echoed throughout the cavernous, blood-filled space.

The sound practically stung Alameck’s pride, he was clearly irritated as his cold gray eyes glinted dangerously.

“Do you take my words for a joke, brother?”

Alister’s laughter suddenly stopped, his expression turning into one of cold disdain. His gaze pierced through Alameck like a blade.

“A joke?”

“Is that even supposed to be a question?”

“Please, at least a joke is interesting.”

He took a step forward, the blood-like surface rippling beneath his boots.

“All I hear is the ramblings of a child who could not accept his loss.”

He paused, narrowing his gaze.

“And now, that same child eagerly begs for a rematch, desperate to prove his strength.”

Alameck’s jaw tightened, his fingers curling into fists as a dark aura began to emanate from him.

Yet Alister stood unflinching, his gaze intense.

“How utterly pitiful.”

Alameck’s expression darkened, his voice filled with malice as he spoke.

“It seems I need to remind you who bows his head to whom, brother.”

Alister smiled, a sharp, confident grin that seemed to glow as brightly as his rising golden

aura.

“You stole the words right out of my mouth.”

The air around Alister shimmered with Ether, his golden energy surging upward like a sun preparing to burn away the shadows.

In a blur of movement, Alameck charged, his speed overwhelming, his claws outstretched as he closed the distance in mere moments. Appearing before Alister, he sneered, his voice

booming.

“Know your place brother, you are weak. Kneel!”

Alister stood unshaken, gazing at Alameck with a calm, somewhat disappointed expression. He then spoke. “Arrogance blinds the mighty, brother. You stand upon the ashes of your victories, believing them mountains, yet all I see is a desperate man reaching for stars he could never grasp. Tell me, how does it feel to drown in the shadow of your own pride?” Before Alameck could respond, the bloody waters below them churned violently. Suddenly, golden chains erupted from the crimson depths, glowing with brilliantly. They coiled around Alameck’s neck and hands, halting his attack mid-swing.

The golden restraints burned his skin, holding him in place as he struggled, his inky black aura clashing futilely against their radiance.

Alister’s gaze bore into him, as if the chains were an extension of his indomitable will.

“You’re nothing more than a wild animal, brother-driven by base instincts to destroy what you cannot understand. But you’re in luck. This realm is mine, and here, I can create as many worlds as you need to sate your endless hunger for ruin.” Alister said.

With that, Alister turned his back on Alameck, the glow of his aura dimming slightly as he

began to walk away.

“Goodbye, brother.”

As Alister’s steps echoed across the crimson sea, Alameck began to chuckle. It started low but grew into a mocking laughter that filled the void.

“You think yourself pure,” Alameck said. “A lord of creation. But facts remain, brother-as

long as I remain here, our souls will erode each other. Your light burns too brightly, and my darkness is too deep. We are fated to tear each other apart, piece by piece as long as I remain

trapped here.”

Alister paused, his golden eyes narrowing.

Alameck’s smirk widened as he continued.

“How have you been finding my bloodline ability, Void Rend?”

For the first time, Alister’s expression faltered, a flicker of shock flashing across his face.

“What?” Alister murmured.

Alameck’s laughter grew louder. “What, did you really think it was yours?” he mocked.

“Surely you jest. The so-called Overlord of Creation, wielding an ability meant for destruction, and yet you never found anything wrong with it? How fascinating.” Alister’s hands clenched into fists, but he remained silent as Alameck pressed on.

“Just as you wield my power, I can wield yours, brother. But even with all your stolen strength, it won’t change the inevitable. You are a failure of an overlord. Every era, you are reborn, desperately trying to shield your children from the darkness. And in every era, you

fail.”

“Just like how you failed to end me all those eons ago!”

Alameck’s tone grew colder, more menacing. “That won’t change, no matter how much you

shun me. I have always been the master of destruction. Let me out, brother, and the darkness that hunts you will be obliterated, wiped from existence. You know it’s the only way.” For a fleeting moment, Alister hesitated. The weight of Alameck’s words pressed heavily on him. But then, he exhaled slowly, his resolve returning.

Without turning back, he said quietly, “Goodbye, brother.”

Alameck’s voice rose, now filled with rage and desperation. “You’ll come back to me! You’ll

see! Just like with that mongrel who nearly brought you to the gates of death, you will call upon my power once again. And when you do, brother, I’ll make sure it will be your last.” Alister didn’t respond. His golden form shimmered as he vanished into the void, leaving Alameck bound and fuming in his prison of blood and chains.

…

Alister’s golden eyes flickered open, his gaze fixing on the ceiling as the cool night wind brushed against the curtains, their soft rustling filling the silent room.

His jaw tightened as the memory of his encounter with Alameck lingered. He gritted his teeth,

his voice a low growl.

“I will not fail again.”

“It seems you’ve finally awoken, my lord.”

A soft, soothing voice suddenly spoke with a touch of amusement.

Alister’s eyes widened, and he immediately sat up. His gaze fell upon Mar’Garet, seated atop

him.

She wasn’t clad in her armor but instead wore a simple black-and-white dress, her figure elegantly framed by the moonlight filtering through the room.

In her hands, she held the crystal egg, its faint glow reflecting in her crimson eyes.

“Mar’Garet? What are you doing here?” Alister’s voice was sharp, his brow furrowing in

irritation.

Mar’Garet giggled.

“Well, you were sleeping so soundly, my lord, I thought I might make myself comfortable.”

She tilted her head, a playful smirk spreading on her face.

“But since you’re awake now, it seems I’ll have to ask for your permission instead.”

Her fingers gently caressed the crystal egg as if soothing it, her crimson eyes flaring.

Then, with a slow motion, she placed her right hand on Alister’s chest. Her fingers traced a

slow path down to his abs, her voice soft but bold.

“Can I sleep next to you, my love?”

She asked, her words filled with a touch of innocence and mischief. She glanced at the egg in

her hand, her lips curling into a sly smile.

“It’s always best for a young egg to feel the warmth of both its parents, after all.”

Alister stared at her, his expression unreadable as a storm of emotions stirred within him.

‘Has she always been this… intense?’ Alister silently wondered.

Meanwhile a system window appeared with a notification.
