Steve fell to the ground and raised his head as high as he could to observe the fight that was still underway. He saw that Dio was still fighting with Carol and Robbie behind him. Meanwhile, everyone else has lost their strength to fight! Dio couldn’t treat them anymore as he was in a pinch himself!
As Stephen Strange looked at everyone, he knew that it was dangerous for them to be left there by themselves, so he tried to evacuate everyone from the dangerous battlefield by teleporting. But of course, he failed miserably as Strange himself was already exhausted.
But a colourful beam of light suddenly appeared from the sky and landed accurately in the centre of the battlefield. Thunder scattered around where the beam of light fell, and Thor’s figure emerged from that beaming light.
Thor looked around and was shocked to see the situation there was so much worse than he expected. He noticed people lying on the ground helplessly as they were badly injured from Thanos’ last attack. He also noticed Dio with a woman and a skeleton fighting against Thanos!
Robbie had lost count of how many times he had been smashed and regenerated while Carol and Dio had been constantly pushed back!
Thor immediately jumped to the sky with his new Stormbreaker and pointed his axe toward Thanos, sending a staggering amount of thunder directly towards Thanos!
“Thor! Cut his head!” Dio shouted. Thor immediately threw his axe toward Thanos, but Thanos also fired an energy beam to block Thor’s axe! But a shocking scene happened right as the axe and energy beam hit each other! Instead of destroying Thor’s new weapon, the axe split the energy beam into two!
Dio kept yelling at Thor to aim at Thanos’ head! Thor remembered his lesson with Dio in the past. where Dio repeatedly told him to aim for the head!
“What are you doing, you idiot! Snap out of it and cut his head!” Dio shouted as he saw Thor was just floating in the air instead of finishing off Thanos.
Thor snapped out of his thought and looked over to Thanos once again. His axe had lodged itself to Thanos’ shoulder, but it didn’t mean that he was out of action. This kind of injury wouldn’t be enough to kill Thanos! At this moment, Thanos was extremely furious from the injury he received!
At the same time, Dio already knew that Thor’s attack wouldn’t suffice as he used [King Crimson] ability to see the future, so Dio immediately rushed forward to put an end to Thanos himself! Dio used the [King Crimson] ability to delete the time where he ran towards Thanos to catch Thanos off guard.
Dio already received severe injuries as he took the explosion from Thanos’ energy earlier head-on. He was also in the front row when the Energy Beam from the Infinity Gauntlet exploded and split apart by the Stormbreaker. But it wasn’t enough to stop Dio!
Dio held the [Reaper’s Gaze] high as he wanted to end this fight as soon as possible! Thanos noticed Dio suddenly appearing in front of him at the last second, and he immediately blocked Dio’s scythe with his Infinity Gauntlet, and the Infinity Stones inside immediately glowed!
Dio now had two choices: either he deleted the time when he attacked Thanos and to escape Thanos’ next attack, or delete the little time when Thanos blocked [Reaper’s Gaze] to allow the scythe to pass through Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet smoothly!
Of course, Dio wouldn’t take the defensive action right now! He used [King Crimson] ability to delete the next 0.2 seconds of Thanos time and cause [Reaper’s Gaze] to pass through Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet.
The scythe’s blade passed through the shadow of the Infinity Gauntlet and connected with Thanos’ neck! When the time went back to normal, Dio was immediately hit by a myriad of colourful energy blasts! His defence didn’t work properly. Even the Aether failed to protect Dio from the blast!
A huge hole was made in Dio’s chest as all his internal organs were torn apart and destroyed by the Energy blast! But he also achieved his own objective!
Thanos was confused as he didn’t expect such an end to his life. A red line appeared on his neck, and his head fell to the ground. Without Thanos’ consciousness containing the Death Energy from the Infinity Stones, his body began to wither.
“Dio!” Thor immediately rushed towards Dio and knelt beside him. The despaired look swept through the entire battlefield instantly! Carol and Robbie stood still as they were unable to process what was happening. They knew that Dio wouldn’t be able to survive that kind of injury! But Dio was their miracle man. He must be able to regenerate that much damage, right?
Steve and the other Avengers were struggling to get up as they wanted to hurry to Dio’s side! Dio was the last person they thought would die! Everyone saw that the Aether particle floated out of Dio’s body, signalling that Dio wouldn’t be able to survive this one!
The crowd was silent, and the air was a little bit eerie. They have lost too many comrades in arms, and now, the one person that brought forth the miracle has also fallen! If Wanda knew both her brother and lover died on the same day, she would definitely collapse!
Loki, who was paddling all the time, gave a strange look at Dio’s body as he saw a golden light was shrouding Dio’s body. He thought it was just an illusion, but surely it was a strange one.
“Clean the battlefield! We still won the war, even if it’s a costly victory!” Steve said as he finally stood up.
But at the same moment, a person that no one had noticed before appeared suddenly and waved his hand. The orange tint appeared on Infinity Gauntlet, symbolizing Soul Stone’s power. The Infinity Gauntlet then fell off Thanos’ corpse and flew towards the mysterious man’s hand. At the same time, the Aether floated in the air and flew towards the Infinity Gauntlet.
A crisp sound was heard as the 6 Infinity Stones were finally attached to the Infinity Gauntlet!
Everyone was surprised as they finally realised a mysterious man with a cane had already worn the Infinity Gauntlet in his hand. A ghost wearing a black cape was floating behind him, menacing and horrifying!
