“Are you all right?” asked Huangfu Qingjue as he withdrew his hand from Ling Chuxi’s face. His brows furrowed slightly as his gaze landed on the wound on Ling Chuxi’s shoulder.
“Ah, I’m fine,” replied Ling Chuxi with a shake of her head though she was still feeling very stunned.
“That’s good,” said Huangfu Qingjue as he smiled slightly. His smile was unrivalled. Its brilliance made it seem as though the sun and the moon has lost all their color. Without waiting for Ling Chuxi to begin asking all the questions she must have, Huangfu Qingjue stood up and broke into a light forward leap. He then disappeared into the night.
“Huangfu Qingjue? Why did that name sound familiar? Who was that man?” Ling Chuxi had slowly but finally managed to overcome her shock and regain her senses. Looking up at the night sky, she let out a regretful gasp, “Oh no, I had yet to even thank him!”
Ling Chuxi turned to look in the direction in which Huangfu Qingjue had disappeared. She felt a slight pang of sadness within her heart. Who was that strong and magnificent man? How was it that he had suddenly appeared and what did his words mean? Ling Chuxi brought her hand to her lips. There seemed to be a lingering warmth where the man’s fingertips had rested on her lip.
“Ugh…” A painful groan suddenly interrupted Ling Chuxi’s thoughts. She turned around and saw that Wei Dan was about to awaken.
She had almost forgotten about the two loyal secret guards due to all the commotion. Ling Chuxi shook her head to urge more of her senses to return. She rushed forward towards the two injured guards and began using her golden needles to stop their wounds from bleeding out.
