Boom, boom…
The Black Demon Bomb exploded, immediately destroying the sewer system, and the group was violently blasted away by the terrifying energy.
From outside, Senren’s voice echoed: “Gaka, surrender! You can’t escape!”
The Demon’s Sky Formation had already been set up, and they were just waiting for the group to walk into the trap.
“Damn it!” Gaka gritted his teeth and said, “Medusa, change direction.”
“Understood!” Medusa responded, returning to the sewer. She quickly picked another path and led the group forward at high speed.
There was no sound from outside, and Senren didn’t send anyone to chase after them.
His greatest reliance was the Demon’s Sky Formation, and the sewer was too narrow to set up another one.
John observed the dark, deep sewer, with Dark Rats occasionally scurrying out, easily dispatched by the group.
He furrowed his brow, not daring to relax for even a moment.
Since Senren hadn’t sent anyone after them, it was likely that the other sewer exits had been ambushed as well.
Now, all he could do was hope there was a poorly guarded exit somewhere.
The Celestial Vault organization was far too mysterious, and Senren’s strength couldn’t be underestimated. For now, John wasn’t their match, nor did he want to face them head-on so
soon.
“We’re almost at the next exit,” Medusa reminded, slowing her pace.
She was also concerned about an ambush here and didn’t dare to rashly enter the murky water. A flicker of light appeared ahead.
As expected, there was an ambush here as well. Before they could even surface, countless Black Demon Bombs came howling toward them, explosions ringing out, and the intense energy surge destroyed this exit.
Once again, John and his group were forced to retreat into the sewer.
Sword Demon, furious, said, “Other exits must be ambushed too. Why don’t we just fight our way out?”
He didn’t want to scurry through the sewers like a rat, constantly hiding and running.
John considered it for a moment. Senren wasn’t there at the moment, and it would take time for him to arrive. Maybe, if they gave it their all, they could break through the Demon’s Sky Formation.
But Gaka spoke up, saying, “Kid, you underestimate the Demon’s Sky Formation. With just the few of us, we won’t be able to break this formation. And Senren surely has more tricks up his sleeve.”
Cand-Dragon frowned and asked, “So what should we do? We can’t just stay trapped here forever, can we?”
The environment in the sewer was harsh, with a stench permeating the air-something that ordinary life forms couldn’t possibly endure.
Medusa hesitated for a moment, then said, “Maybe we can escape through another territory.”
Hearing this, Gaka frowned. “The Baron’s territory?”
Medusa nodded and continued, “But the Baron’s territory is even more dangerous. His Bloodthirst Beasts and Corrupted Demons live in the sewers, and they’re specialized for this environment.”
He glanced at Gaka and John, waiting for their decision.
The Baron was more powerful than Senren, and the sewer system was under his control.
Medusa didn’t want to take the risk of charging in recklessly.
After a moment of contemplation, Gaka spoke up. “Let’s escape through the Baron’s territory. It’s better than being stuck here, or facing the Demon’s Sky Formation.”
“Agreed,” John said, nodding.
Medusa didn’t say anything further. He quickly assessed the direction and led the group deeper into the sewer system.
The passage was dark and narrow, and as they went deeper, the surroundings became eerily quiet, with only their footsteps echoing in the silence. They barely encountered any Dark Rats -an ominous sign.
No one spoke; the atmosphere was tense and oppressive.
Shuffle…
Suddenly, shuffling sounds came from deep within the tunnel.
Medusa immediately raised his hand to signal for them to stop.
“There’s a monster!” he warned, unable to suppress the dry gulp in his throat.
An evil, malicious aura filled the air, accompanied by the pungent stench of blood.
“Awooo…”
A long, eerie howl echoed, and in the dim light, pairs of crimson eyes flickered. A pack of werewolf-like monsters, with sharp fangs and claws, charged at them.
“Bloodthirst Beasts!” Medusa’s face changed, and he exclaimed in shock.
“Is this the Bloodthirst Beast?” John’s expression grew serious. These creatures were all at least eight-star power level, and the few leading them were at the peak of eight-star
strength.
“Did we reach the Baron’s territory this quickly?” he wondered aloud. Senren’s domain was vast-there was no way they should have left so quickly.
Medusa shook his head. “No. We’re still in Senren’s territory. It’s likely Senren sent the Baron’s forces to intercept us.”
“Roar!”
With a furious roar, the Bloodthirst Beasts lunged forward in a wave.
The group acted decisively.
John released Sini and the others, as these Bloodthirst Beasts were strong, and defeating them could give them the chance to plunder their attributes.
Buzz…
The sound of the sword hummed in the air as John summoned the Four Extermination Swords and used Sword Mastery to launch a ruthless attack on the Bloodthirst Beasts.
He and Gaka stood at the forefront, blocking the oncoming wave of beasts.
The others were relieved from the pressure and positioned themselves behind, launching powerful attacks at the Bloodthirst Beasts.
Whoosh!
A gray mist swirled, and Sini also acted decisively, using the powers of the underworld to envelop the Bloodthirst Beasts.
“Hmm? The powers of the underworld!” Gaka felt the power emanating from Sini, his eyes widening in surprise as he looked at her.
This was the first time Gaka had encountered someone, other than members of the Celestial Vault organization, who wielded the powers of the underworld.
And what’s more, it was the purest form of the powers of the underworld, unlike the evil energy used by Senren and his followers.
He now understood why Senren and the others were so intent on capturing the women.
The powers of the underworld were also a form of dark law, but far more potent.
If Senren were to fully master the powers of the underworld, he could potentially break through to the Ten-Star Emperor level.
Gurgle, gurgle…
At that moment, the sewer around them seemed to boil, bubbles rising to the surface
incessantly.
Medusa’s expression changed, and he quickly warned, “It’s the Corrupted Demons.”
Splash…
The filthy water splattered, coalescing into a group of zombie-like creatures. Their grotesque faces twisted with malice, and they howled as they lunged at the group.
Like the Bloodthirst Beasts, these Corrupted Demons were also eight-star powerhouses!
The pressure on the group increased dramatically. A large number of Bloodthirst Beasts surged forward, and from the sewer, more and more Corrupted Demons emerged. With only John and Gaka standing at the front, they couldn’t possibly hold them back.
Boom, boom…
It wasn’t over yet. Roaring sounds echoed from behind them as a large group of Black Magicians appeared, hurling Black Demon Bombs as though they were endless. Suddenly, John and the others were surrounded, and the pressure on them intensified.
“Retreat!” Gaka shouted, swinging his trident to block the advancing Bloodthirst Beasts, urging the group.
“This way.” Medusa, panicked, chose a random passage and darted into it.
The group quickly followed, with the Bloodthirst Beasts, Corrupted Demons, and numerous Black Magicians hot on their heels.
John and Gaka lagged behind, doing their best to hold back the monsters’ relentless assaults.
The underground passage was a labyrinth of tunnels, branching out in all directions, and Bloodthirst Beasts and Corrupted Demons emerged frequently.
Fortunately, the space was tight, so John and his companions could still manage to hold the
line, albeit with great effort.
But as time passed, their strength began to wane.
Especially Gaka. His injuries were severe, and his life force was rapidly fading, nearly to the
point of being irreversible.
John, on the other hand, still retained his combat ability, but facing these monsters alone, the task of holding them back was becoming increasingly difficult.
Furthermore, the others had become more of a burden.
At this rate, they would eventually be surrounded by the monsters, and their survival chances
would grow slimmer by the minute.
After a moment of thought, John spoke up: “You all get into my World-in-Hand. I’ll figure
out a way to shake off these guys.”
“Alright.” The group quickly nodded in agreement, realizing that they were unable to help at
all and were only slowing John down.
John’s thoughts stirred, and he opened his World-in-Hand, pulling Gaka and the others
inside.
It was dangerous to hastily bring others into World-in-Hand.
But John was confident that even Gaka couldn’t destroy his World-in-Hand.
With no one else to worry about, John could fully unleash his power. His sword intent hummed around him, and the various Powers of the Laws surged. Thousands of sword beams and endless magic whizzed through the air, enveloping the oncoming monsters. [You have killed an eight-star Bloodthirst Beast. The notifications flashed continuously.
These Bloodthirst Beasts and Corrupted Demons were also increasing his poison resistance
and harsh environment adaptation attributes.
What surprised John the most, however, was that killing these monsters allowed him to
Plunder Darkness Heaven Law comprehension.
Although it was only 0.01%, and not every monster provided it, the sheer number of them
made the effect still quite substantial.
As John fought and retreated, even though he couldn’t use Heaven and Earth Transformation in the cramped underground tunnels, the Bloodthirst Beasts and Corrupted Demons couldn’t pose a real threat.
As long as no nine-star practitioners showed up, he could handle it.
The Bloodthirst Beasts and Corrupted Demons around him dwindled rapidly, and soon, they
were all slain.
He had Plundered a vast amount of attributes, and his Darkness Heaven Law comprehension
increased to 10.4%.
He was now able to use the Darkness Heaven Law, and his strength saw another significant
improvement.
“Where is this place?” John looked around at the maze of passages, his brow furrowing. Unknowingly, he had become lost.
He didn’t worry too much, though. Medusa was familiar with the underground tunnels of
Dark City and should have a solution.
“Hmm, what’s going on?” He sensed a fluctuation within his World-in-Hand and frowned. Could someone be trying to disrupt his World-in-Hand?
He confirmed that there was no danger around him, and with a thought, he entered World-in-
Hand.
Whoosh…
A howling wind, terrifying power surged, and the space around him trembled slightly. Spoorate was actually holding the Sea God Trident, swinging it wildly.
The fluctuation in his World-in-Hand was caused by Spoorate’s actions. “This little girl can actually wield the Sea God Trident?” John’s face was filled with
astonishment.
Even in his Heaven and Earth Transformation state, he could barely lift this weapon. Wielding it was completely out of the question.
This had to be related to Spoorate’s identity as The Rebel Against Heaven.
John couldn’t help but recall how Spoorate had easily wielded the giant sword passed down by
The Immortals.
It seemed that the Sea God Trident shared some similarities with The Immortals’ giant sword.
“Kid, I’ve got to say, you are truly my lucky star!” Gaka’s hearty voice rang out from the side. He looked at Spoorate with an expression of deep satisfaction.
His life was nearing its end, and he had thought he would never find a suitable heir. But now,
he had found Spoorate. Though this girl’s talent was not as great as John’s, she was a perfect fit for his inheritance, easily causing the Sea God Trident to recognize her as its master.
