The large dragon that was leaving behind a large black cloud of smoke was diving from the black sky. Large arcs of blue and gold lightning were flashing around him, accompanied by deafening thunders that were drowning out the sounds from the battlefield.
Dozens of blue plasma spheres were launching toward the dragons, large blue explosions shaking the sky as blue light kept piercing through the thick black clouds.
Vesuvius flapped his wings, the battlefield getting closer and closer, blue explosions around him chipping away from his armour.
Suddenly the dragon tilted his wings, rolling to the side as a thick bright blue ray passed by him, continuing towards the sky.
Finally, he braced his wings, stopping just two floors above the ground. His whole body crackled with lightning surging around his body. At once, all of the electrical charge in his body exploded out in a large nova of golden and blue tendrils and sparks. A large, blindingly glowing wave of blue and golden electricity spread in all directions as it swept through the lines of blue-eyed mechs on the ground.
The grass vanished, burning under the electrical currents and electrical sparks flashed all over the magitech soldiers, their bodies spasming before collapsing with smoke coming out of them.

The smell of burned electronics filled the air, with all of the blue eyes machines turning towards the dragon, ignoring red glowing slugs tearing through their ranks as they aimed their weapons at him. Their blue cores violently flashed, the glow of the blue crystals on their weapons increasing, creating loud humming noise.
‘Shit! I think I made a mistake.’ Vesuvius felt their shiny blue eyes looking all over him, together with the increasing frequency of a humming sound as their weapons charged up. There was no way for him to dodge this wave of attacks coming from all directions or to get out of such a bad spot fast enough.
Vesuvius felt like pounding his head as he got himself into such a bad position just to get the huge kill streak, wanting to get the title. He felt confident about taking plasma shots, but he felt danger from the weird disintegrating beams used by the large constructs in the back.
‘Who would have thought that they would just start ignoring the red mech and just focus on me…’
Expecting a huge barrage bombing him from all sides, he quickly spent ten of his ability points with a hard heart to level up his dragon scales. Normally he wanted to spend them on his dragon vitality for future investment, but now he needed a quick and a large boost in his defence.

As they merged with runes inscribed on them and regenerated, they already have runes carved on them after regeneration.

Time was quickly ticking as the humming sound kept getting louder and louder. Vesuvius quickly read through all of the options, ‘So the first one is balanced one, the second one is defensive, and the third one is utility, but increased empowerment of runes also increases defence. Finally, the fourth option boosts defence but at the cost of mana…’
He had no time to analyze all of the options in detail. Still, luckily for him, the choice was pretty obvious, ‘My scales are foremost for defence, and I should evolve them with such purpose, so that keeps second and fourth options… and as a dragon, I have a shitton of mana, so using it to increase my defensive power is probably best. It will probably scale greatly in the future as my mana increases, allowing my scales to get stronger from both magic and defence. So let go with the fourth one.’
Vesuvius quickly picked the fourth option; knowledge of how to use his new scales immediately flooded his brain, together with a feeling akin to diving in hot water spreading all over his body.
