Alex arrived in the room where Mili was and quickly sent his senses inside of her. There was still a bit of Yang in her, and the Yang in the surroundings would continue to affect her. But she simply had to go to the ocean and absorb more Qi when she felt bad.
For now, she was more or less healed.
“Let her rest. She should wake up sometime around evening. Have some soup ready for her. I’ll prepare the herbs that should go along with the soup.”
The mother choked up in tears. The two sisters were right along with her. “She… she will live, won’t she?”
“Of course. She’ll be healthy in just a day or two. You have no reason to worry anymore.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much.”
Everyone in the room began crying right then. Even the chief sat down next to the bed and cried.
Alex let the family be and walked outside.
“Thank you,” Tara said as he walked out.
“No need to thank me. I’m just doing what I should be doing. I’m a healer, after all.”
“Still,” Tara said slowly. “You healed the curse that’s been affecting our tribe since the very beginning. I cannot thank you enough.”
Alex smiled. “If anyone comes for me, tell them I’ll be busy for a while. Let them spend their time with their family. I have something else I need to do right now.”
Tara nodded and let Alex leave.
Alex arrived in his empty room with only the bed. On the bed were the nearly 30 beast cores he had managed to bring back. He had tried to kill only the stronger monsters, so he hoped this would be enough for him to gather a lot of Qi.
He didn’t eat any of the cores right away, however. His Dantian had already been teeming with True Qi for a while now. He needed to deal with that before he could consume any more.
Alex sat on his bed and took a deep breath as he began compressing the True Qi down to Saint Qi. When it left space in his Dantian, Alex reached for the next core and ate it.
His Dantian was once again filled with True Qi, which he compressed further to make Saint Qi. The Saint Qi was now of a decent enough amount that he could turn it into Immortal Qi.
So, he began compressing it as well.
Compressing Saint Qi to Immortal Qi required a decently strong Intent. Considering how much he had been using his Intent today, he felt himself struggle during this process.
Still, his Intent was strong enough to form the Immortal Qi.
‘I can’t do it all today,’ Alex thought. ‘Not until I can rest.’
So, he decided to go on until he needed to rest.
After consuming and compressing the Qi of six more beast cores, Alex finally stopped. When he did, he felt himself go somewhat lightheaded, with a mind that buzzed with fatigue.
With nothing else to do for the moment, Alex simply lay on the bed and closed his eyes.
Rest alone was what he needed right now.
Alex woke up a few hours later, his mind quite refreshed. The storm outside had turned into a downpour. The amount of rain had increased, but the intensity was nowhere near the same as before.
Now that he was up, he began consuming more cores and gathering more Qi. Having done this for a while now, he began getting used to it. And as he got used to it, it became easier to use his Intent on it.
‘Good thing they don’t have a strong spirit within them, or else I wouldn’t be this quick right now,’ Alex thought. He could only wonder how he would even be able to fight against beast spirits within his spiritual sea if he couldn’t enter it.
Would he just get knocked out each time?
‘I can only imagine what would happen to Midnight,’ he thought. Thankfully, he wouldn’t have that sort of issue with just True beast cores. And the chances of finding one that was stronger in this place were highly unlikely.
Once Alex got through all the beast cores, the Qi that ended up in his Dantian at the end was perhaps enough for a single weak attack. It was a rather pitiful amount.
Still, Alex let it be there. It would be helpful in healing him should something serious happen to him. But the likelihood of something like that happening seemed impossible in this place where everything was so weak.
‘Still, this is a decent amount of Immortal Qi from a bunch of True Qi. I should be able to fill my Dantian in a couple of days while leaving the rest of the fish for the tribe to feast on.’
He got up from the bed and made his way to the other room. Only the chief and his wife were in that room. The others seemed to have left.
“How is she doing?” Alex asked.
“She’s calmed down a lot from before. There is no more sweat or the constant fidgeting. The fever is completely gone as well,” the chief said. “I… I do think you’ve cured her of the curse.”
“Thank you, young man,” the mother cried. “I… I don’t know what we could’ve done if you weren’t here.”
“Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me,” Alex quickly said.
“Still, take our thanks, and tell us if there is anything else we can do for you.”
“There’s no need,” Alex said. “Although, where is Grandma? I need to talk to her about something.”
“My mother?” the woman asked. “If she hasn’t returned home, then she should be in the other room.”
“I see. I’ll go to her.”
Alex left the room and arrived in the other room where the old woman was with her other two granddaughters and her great-grandson.
“Are you free?” Alex asked as he entered. “I want to ask about this Sunheart you mentioned.”
