The next morning, Li Yang went to the company early while Zhou Chao and Guo Yan were still sleeping. After all, they had only gone to bed around 1 or 2 in the morning, so they didn’t even know when Li Yang left.
By the time Zhou Chao woke up, the sun was already high in the sky, and his stomach was growling. He took a few tomatoes, eggs, and a piece of meat from the refrigerator and made scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried pork with green peppers, and tomato soup. Then he went upstairs to wake Guo Yan.
The simple ingredients still resulted in delicious flavors, and both of them ate everything on their plates.
“Xiaoyan, how many more days do you plan to stay and play before going back?” Zhou Chao looked at Guo Yan, who was lying on the sofa without a hint of being a lady.
“What’s wrong, brother? Are you getting tired of me?” Guo Yan looked at Zhou Chao with teary eyes, making him feel like he would be drowned in tears if he said yes.
“No, how could I ever get tired of you? I was just thinking that when you go back, could you bring some gifts for Third Aunt and Uncle so that I can prepare in advance,” Zhou Chao said, relieving Guo Yan’s worries.
“Maybe just a few more days. I still have a lot of summer homework to do. If I had known, I would have brought it with me, and we could have played for a few more days.”
“There will be plenty of opportunities in the future. If you get accepted into a university in Jing’an or Modu, I’ll reward you. The better you perform, the bigger the reward.”
“Don’t worry, brother. I won’t let you down. I’ll definitely make you bleed money,” Guo Yan said as she clenched her fist silently, making Zhou Chao burst into laughter.
“You’re teasing me. Do you think I don’t believe you can get into Jing’an University? Hmph, you’ll see next year,” Guo Yan pouted and mumbled about her bad brother, looking like a pouty pufferfish.
“Alright, alright. I believe in you. Later, I need to go out and take care of something. Do you want to come with me?”
“Hmph, stinky brother, I’m not going with you. You can go by yourself,” Guo Yan said, then got up from the sofa and walked towards her own bedroom.
Zhou Chao watched Guo Yan angrily go upstairs, a smile blooming on his face.
Glancing at the time, it was only a little past noon. It was still early to go to Huaxia Bank now since they were probably on their lunch break. He would go out later in the afternoon.
After tidying up the kitchen, Zhou Chao lay on the sofa and took out his phone to play Gold Shovel.
Time always passed quickly without notice. He had only played a few rounds of the game when it was already 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Zhou Chao got up from the sofa, grabbed the key to the Lamborghini Aventador casually, and headed to the Modu branch of Huaxia Bank.
The Palms Residence was actually quite close to the Modu branch, less than 10 minutes away. Zhou Chao parked the car in the branch’s parking lot and then walked towards the bank’s entrance.
Just as he stepped into the bank’s doorway, a graceful and confident beauty, the branch manager, approached him. “Sir, hello. How can I assist you?”
As the branch manager of Huaxia Bank in Modu City, Chu Yujiao felt quite proud. At less than 28 years old, she had already achieved a high position as the manager of a regional branch.
Chu Yujiao happened to be on duty for the afternoon shift today. Shortly after starting work, she noticed a handsome and charismatic young man entering the bank. Chu Yujiao approached him immediately.
Zhou Chao looked at the beautiful bank employee before him and softly said, “Hello, is your branch manager, Mr. Guo, available?”
“Hello, may I ask for your surname, sir?”
“Zhou.”
“Mr. Zhou, hello. Did you have a prior appointment with Mr. Guo?”
“Mr. Guo called me before, isn’t he here today?”
“Mr. Guo is here. Please follow me, Mr. Zhou. I’ll show you to the VIP room.” Chu Yujiao led Zhou Chao into the VIP room.
“Would you like tea or coffee, Mr. Zhou?”
“Tea, thank you.”
Chu Yujiao promptly instructed a staff member to prepare a pot of tea and then headed towards the manager’s office.
“Knock, knock, knock.”
“Come in,” a deep voice came from inside.
Chu Yujiao pushed open the door. “Mr. Guo, there’s a Mr. Zhou here who said he had an appointment with you. I’ve arranged him in the VIP room.”
“Mr. Zhou? Oh, in the VIP room. Well done, Xiao Chu. Let’s go to the VIP room,” Mr. Guo remembered the phone call he made to Zhou Chao a few days ago.
Mr. Guo opened the door to the VIP room and saw a young man who looked overly youthful and noble sitting on the sofa, sipping tea.
“Hello, Mr. Zhou. You should have called me before coming here. I didn’t mean to keep you waiting for so long,” Mr. Guo said as he walked over and extended his hand to Zhou Chao.
Zhou Chao immediately stood up, and the two shook hands lightly before taking their seats. Chu Yujiao came in with a fresh pot of tea and served them before leaving the room.
“I came here today to upgrade my bank card,” Zhou Chao said as he glanced at Mr. Guo, breaking the silence.
“No problem, I’ll arrange for someone to handle that for you, Mr. Zhou. By the way, would you be interested in learning about some of our bank’s products?”
“I’m afraid I may disappoint you, Mr. Guo. I have other considerations for this fund in the future, so I apologize,” Zhou Chao politely declined Mr. Guo’s offer.
Mr. Guo laughed heartily. “By depositing money with our bank, Mr. Zhou, you have shown great trust in us. In the future, when you have funds to store, please consider our bank as a priority.”
Zhou Chao readily agreed.
Soon, the bank staff replaced Zhou Chao’s card with a brand new black card, granting him the highest privileges. Once everything was done, Zhou Chao stood up, apologized, and left Huaxia Bank.
After Zhou Chao left, Chu Yujiao couldn’t help but ask Mr. Guo with suspicion, “Manager, which noble family does that handsome gentleman belong to? You personally received him.”
Mr. Guo shook his head in response. “I have no idea which noble family he belongs to. All I know is that he has a cash flow of 1 billion at his disposal in his bank account.” With that, Mr. Guo turned and left, leaving Chu Yujiao stunned in place.
When Zhou Chao came out of the bank, he remembered the little crybaby at home. After some thought, he drove to a nearby shopping mall. After browsing for a while, he found a store selling plush toys and bought a super cute teddy bear, similar in size to Guo Yan. He placed it on the passenger seat and returned to The Palms Residence.
When Zhou Chao arrived home, he saw Guo Yan lying on the sofa watching TV. As soon as she saw Zhou Chao holding a large teddy bear, she jumped up from the sofa and pounced on the toy bear.
“Brother, is this a gift for me? I really love it. Thank you, brother.” Without waiting for Zhou Chao’s reaction, Guo Yan happily carried the teddy bear and walked towards her bedroom.
Zhou Chao watched Guo Yan in surprise, realizing that he still didn’t understand girls’ thoughts. She had been crying and crying before, but now she was overjoyed in an instant. “Ah, women’s hearts are too hard to fathom.”
