Who Is Crueler?
With his body still in the air, Yang Chen had no way of escape. Nevertheless it was as if Yang Chen was not even considering about it. The scene of the two brats being speared through by the flying sword was still clear in in his mind. Yang Chen did not believe that the cultivation of these people could penetrate the defense of the golden bell.
Ding! Ding!
As what Yang Chen had expected, two back-to-back flying swords slayed towards the direction of Yang Chen’s legs but only the sound of a bell could be heard, while he remained unharmed.
“Be careful, the guy has a body protection treasure!” Someone saw what was going on and shouted it out.
“Humph! A body protection treasure?” The Yuanying expert groaned coldly and bellowed, “Destroy it!”
A ray-sword-like red light came flying out from the Yuanying expert’s hand, heading for Yang Chen’s chest. The few Jindan experts who were around him was shocked and quickly exclaimed, “Sir, we need him alive!”
As if he had just remembered that Yang Chen needed to be captured alive, the ray of red light became sluggish and instantaneously dimmer. However, its speed did not decrease, striking Yang Chen hard in the chest.
With the help of the attack from the two flying swords, Yang Chen had already regained his balance but immediately he was struck right in the chest. This strike was not an attack from a Jindan expert, but was one from a Yuanying expert’s treasure.
The ray of red light had hit Yang Chen’s body but his face revealed a strange smile that was sort of telling people that he could never be caught.
Just when the Yuanying expert found it strange, a deep bell sound was heard coming from Yang Chen’s body.
Bong!
The muffled sound of a bell was coming from Yang Chen’s chest where the Yuanying expert had struck him. An intangible shock wave then spread overwhelmingly to all directions.
Wherever the shock wave had propagated to, regardless of humans or items, all of them started quivering continuously, stemming from the sound of the bell.
Except Yang Chen, everyone’s ears were filled with the sustained ring of the bell while nothing else could be heard.
This sound had penetrated everybody’s body and drilled into all the witnesses’ mind. Even their minds started trembling while their bodies were worse—they were shaking involuntarily and their hands could not even hold onto anything.
The swirling flying swords plunged from the sky as if some powerful force had just struck them, losing the link with their owners. Everyone was flabbergasted and could not stop shuddering, unable to do anything else.
“Exploding the tenth water magical thunder is very pleasurable, isn’t it?” Yang Chen’s shadow appeared briskly beside the Yuanying expert, at the same time followed by a calm yet furious voice, “Tasting this sound of the bell is also not bad!”
Truthfully, Yang Chen himself was also affected by the sound of the bell. But the effect was considered negligible considering the effect on others. Nevertheless Yang Chen could only put to use one more escape technique and after that his spirit power would no longer condense. Even his flying sword and all the other weapons could not be employed anymore. The sound of the bell had almost dispersed all his spiritual awareness.
For Yang Chen however, it did not matter if he could not utilise any of his spirit power. Though the opponents were Yuanying and Jindan cultivators, if Yang Chen could not use his spirit power, they similarly could not do so.
For a Yuanying expert who could not utilise his spirit power, if he were to face Yang Chen who had cultivated the Huangjin Strongman Body Refining Technique which had granted him the strength of over ten thousand kilograms, that would only spell tragedy.
Yang Chen had no intention of holding himself back. The reason these people wanted to capture him was definitely not to just lock him up, so of course he would not be soft on them. Stretching his hand, he got hold of the back of the Yuanying expert’s head, whereas his other hand grabbed the arm of the Yuanying. Spreading his two arms, Yang Chen began to channel his energy.
The Yuanying expert’s face was filled with terror and the Jindan experts around him were also horrified. And what followed was the sound of a cold shriek. Tear! A sound that made people’s hair stand on its end was suddenly heard.
The Yuanying expert was originally in a high position and was the master of the Jindan experts. The brain and the spine were forcibly torn out from the body by the hands of Yang Chen. The body of the Yuanying expert which had been through the refining of spirit power was torn into two parts easily, just like a clump of dough.
The shriek stopped abruptly and Yang Chen tossed the spine together with the whole brain into the root of the Phantom Blood Vine in the Medicine Garden. On the other hand, the qiankun pouch on the body was plucked away by Yang Chen and the body was also thrown to the Phantom Blood Vine as a fertiliser.
Keeping the Yuanying expert’s qiankun pouch, Yang Chen’s eyes turned to the other Jindan experts.
There were many cultivators who had torn people apart into few pieces but that was a flying sword showing off its strength. Had anyone ever torn a Yuanying expert apart before like how Yang Chen just did?
Although the people were all now affected by the sound of the bell, even if they had not been affected, witnessing Yang Chen tear the Yuanying expert apart would also have scared them out of their wits.
“Gripes have their origins, and debts their creditors. I have not offended you guys in the past nor have I had any vengeance, but you chose to chase after me without any reason. I shall send you guys to heaven!” Yang Chen’s words did not stop coming out from his mouth. The people beside the Yuanying expert were pulled towards him before each of them was given a blow to the head, concussing at least six brains.
Until this very moment, the effect of the sound of the bell on the people was finally starting to weaken. They could finally use their spirit power but only four Jindan experts were left and from where were they going to find the courage within to battle against Yang Chen? Even the Yuanying expert was no match for Yang Chen, needless to say for them. The second they could finally control their spirit power, the thought of escape immediately popped up in their minds.
However, just before the Jindan experts could utilise their spirit power, Yang Chen had already healed faster than them. Six people appeared around them before Five Female Profound Spell was cast, surrounding the four Jindan experts.
Facing Yang Chen alone was already scary enough, and now with five additional Jindan cultivators surrounding them and a Yuanying expert watching by, the four of them did not even dare move a finger, obeying Yang Chen’s restriction, not moving at all.
With a sway of his body, Yang Chen had kept all of the women and transported the four prisoners straight into the flying shuttle. The four Jindan experts were shocked but after looking at the scenario around them, they finally understood why Yang Chen managed to hide below the sea surface for so long without coming out.
What made the four people feel uneasy was that after Yang Chen had cast the restrictions on them, he did not ask any questions and was just rummaging through the qiankun pouches, checking if he had gotten anything valuable. But the more he did this, the more uneasy they were feeling.
“Your surname?” After Yang Chen had finally done going through every qiankun pouch, Yang Chen then grabbed one of the Jindan experts, sat the expert down in front of him, and started questioning the expert.
“Liu!” Not expecting Yang Chen to ask such a simple question, the prisoner straightaway opened his mouth and answered Yang Chen. Followed by alertness, but he felt he had said nothing wrong, only then did he let out a sigh of relief.
“You have hatred towards me?” Yang Chen blurted out another question. However, this time the Jindan expert dared not open his mouth, but only stared at Yang Chen cruelly.
Slash! A ray of light flashed by. The brain of the Jindan expert flew into the air and the headless neck started spurting fresh blood aimlessly. It was unclear since when Yang Chen had held the Bright Ray Sword in his hands.
Not even looking at the brain that was in the air, Yang Chen touched the blade of the Bright Ray Sword gently like how one would caress his lover’s hand.
After the blood had finished gushing out, Yang Chen then kept the body in the Medicine Garden, making it as a fertiliser again. Yang Chen subsequently planted his Bright Ray Sword casually on the table beside his hand.
“Actually I do not want to know your purpose.” The flying shuttle could not be stained by blood and that was the reason Yang Chen did not worry about blood spraying all over the inside. He then collected the blood and sent it to the Medicine Garden before saying with a dull tone, “Because even if you do not speak, I already know what it is.”
“There are basically just a few reasons for chasing after and killing me—searching for vengeance, doing away a witness, or seizing what is on me.” Yang Chen sat down with his legs crossed and posing one foot in the air. “These are essentially the only few reasons for murder, aren’t they?”
This was the truth, regardless of how dissatisfied the three people were, they still felt that Yang Chen was right. Except devil sects or the demon race, a cultivator would not murder people without any reason unless it was absolutely necessary. Of course, this did not include the people who were committing suicide but they were obviously not that kind of people.
“Before that Yuanying expert attacked, one of you shouted that I was needed alive.” Yang Chen shook his head and smiled a little. “This meant that you do not want me dead. Then it has just become easier for me to guess, it is definitely not to seek vengeance, otherwise you would have been very eager to kill me, wouldn’t you?”
“Talking about this, the only reason left is my pill mastery at the foundation building stage which can force a Yuanying expert to bring along tens of Jindan experts with him to make an attack.” Yang Chen looked at the three prisoners in front of him and asked out of curiosity, “What are you guys seeking after? The Heart Questioning Pill? The Heaven Seizing Pill? Or are you guys looking for both?”
The three of them did not respond to Yang Chen, not sure if they were not willing to or did not dare to. But Yang Chen’s words were like a venomous snake, slithering mercilessly into their ears and slowly breaking their persistence.
“Since all of you did not put up a fight and allowed yourselves to be caught willingly, I am guessing that you do not want to die.” These words from Yang Chen struck a chord in each of their hearts. If they had wanted to be dead warriors, they would have done that already, there was no need to wait until now. Cultivating to the Jindan stage was definitely not easy. If given a chance, nobody would want to die in vain either.
“I wonder if this senior can tell me who the one going against me is?” Yang Chen asked the leftmost Jindan expert.
“Humph!” the Jindan expert snorted, as if he wanted to express his feelings or struggle.
After that, the other people saw the Bright Ray Sword flash again. The head of the person who had snorted just now flew high into the air, beheaded by Yang Chen with a sword.
Yang Chen struck without second thought, not even giving the expert a chance to hesitate, decapitating the expert cleanly. Perhaps one was not terrorising enough, but after two consecutively and especially when they could be the next, the feeling was totally different.
The faces of the remaining two Jindan experts were as pale as chalk. Rumors were told that Yang Chen used to be an executioner who was highly experience, and they turned out to be right. Nobody would have thought that Yang Chen was this cruel. Saying the wrong words or even just making a sound to express one’s emotions which vaguely implied disobedience would make him take action immediately.
Although the two Jindan experts were used to seeing life and death, facing Yang Chen at this moment, their hearts still could not help but shiver. The impressive Jindan experts, facing a junior in the foundation building stage actually dared not look Yang Chen in the eyes!
“Gripes have their origins, and debts their creditors.” Yang Chen shook his head and sighed. “I am not a bloodthirsty person, at the same time I am not a saint. Whether or not Senior wants to slip away unpunished or maintain your pride is in your hands.”
“Grant me an instant death if you have the guts!” The overwhelming fear provoked one of the two Jindan experts, causing him to shout at Yang Chen suddenly.
“As you wish!” Yang Chen did not give any opportunity to the expert to regret. As soon as the words came out from his mouth, his hands dropped the sword. Soon, the head of the expert who had yelled rose into the air. As the head fell to the ground, the gushing fresh blood sprayed all over the body of the remaining expert.
“The person tracking me is very clever. He did not come with you guys.” Ignoring the blood that was still dripping from his Bright Ray Sword, he put the sword aside said to the last guy, “His spiritual awareness marking still lingers in my mind.”
The remaining expert raised his head, clueless about the reason Yang Chen said so. But he was still surprised that Yang Chen knew that the person going after him was not among them.
“This means that it is not a must for you to tell me.” Yang Chen sneered coldly. “I will just have to find him myself, since it does not make a difference with or without you. Who knows if what he knows may even be more than what you do. What do you think, Senior?”
While talking, Yang Chen’s hand had already once again reached for the handle of his Bright Ray Sword. This movement scared the wits out of the last expert, causing his body began shaking involuntarily.
“I’ll talk, I’ll talk!” Yang Chen’s hand had only raised a little and the expert was already begging for mercy. There was no signs of the manner of a Jindan expert.
“I’m listening,” Yang Chen said coldly but his hand did not release the handle.
“It’s…” After just saying a word, the Jindan expert shook tremendously in a weird manner, but he continued, “It’s…”
After saying the same thing twice, suddenly the Jindan expert’s face was filled with astonishment and his body started shaking violently.
Yang Chen was stunned but he immediately understood what was happening. Without even thinking, he tossed the Jindan expert to the outside of the flying shuttle before zooming away.
After just swifting about twenty metres away, the body of the Jindan expert exploded. With a loud bang, his body became a clump of minced meat.
