After stepping into the official Knight level, Rein seemed to feel every cell in his body rejoicing.
Rein casually moved a few times, then held the bastard sword issued by the Night Watchman in his hand; with further enhancement of his muscles and fascia, swinging the bastard sword felt as light as a feather. Only the sharp sound of breaking wind could be heard repeatedly, though the sword shadows were invisible, only flashes of light passing by.
The transformation was astounding!
The substantial enhancement of Rein’s physical attributes allowed him to perform more precise movements with his weapon, naturally boosting his combat strength.
Furthermore, Rein had a strange feeling, as though he could extract some sort of substance from the Bastard Sword.

With a thought, Rein immediately began to control it.
Indeed, a faint, almost imperceptible pale-silver mist spread from Rein’s right hand, which was holding the Bastard Sword, rapidly spreading up his arm and across his whole body.
Rein could feel that this was seemingly an effect of his Knight Transcendent trait—Iron Skin.
It seemed he could accelerate the combination of certain or multiple free metal elements with the keratin layer of his skin, thus providing formidable defensive power.
Out of curiosity, Rein used the Bastard Sword in his right hand to lightly touch his left forearm.
There wasn’t a single mark!

Only after applying a bit more pressure did he manage to leave a faint white mark.
This delighted Rein immensely.
Such defense was akin to wearing a suit of plate armor, though it was unknown whether it could defend against the sinister black flames of the Black Flame monks.
However, Rein also noticed that the original metallic luster of the Bastard Sword had dulled quite a bit.
Upon careful consideration, it was clearly due to his Transcendent trait, Iron Skin, which seemed to have drawn some of the metal elements from the Bastard Sword to his body, thus affecting the weapon itself.
“Eh! My body is absorbing metal elements?”
“This… won’t I be overloading on heavy metals?”
Suddenly, Rein thought of a very alarming modern-day issue.
This made him immediately lift his arm to carefully examine his skin’s surface.
Upon close inspection, Rein found that the metal attachment and fortification were merely affecting the outermost layer of his skin, specifically the stratum corneum of the epidermis, and did not at all involve the dermis.
This immediately relieved Rein!
“It’s great to have increased strength, but if it leads to heavy metal overload and premature death, then it would not be worth it!”
Additionally, Rein checked the Knight (Transcendent) panel and found that the original Night Watchman core Skills ‘Danger Perception lv2’ and ‘Dark Vision’ still existed and had been inherited.
This brought Rein double joy!
Thinking back, Rein realized that not advancing from the Knight Attendant vocational panel to Knight (Transcendent) might not necessarily be a bad thing.
Because, from a logical guess, the core Skill of Knight Attendant would likely be something that enhanced attack or fortified defense.
But he already had the ‘Strength Burst’ Core Skill and the secret technique ‘Roaring Strike’ from the Blacksmith vocational panel, making him strong in terms of attack. Thus, in Rein’s view, ‘Danger Perception lv2’ and ‘Dark Vision’ were quite suitable for him at the moment.
Another thing that delighted Rein immensely was the system notification of an additional vocational panel slot.
This meant that if he was truly able to trigger some occupation involving controlling mysterious side energy particles in the future, he would not face a shortage of vocational panel slots.
Just as Rein was about to try out the effect of the Transcendent trait ‘Huge Strength,’ he heard voices coming from the office next door belonging to Hamilton.
Judging from the unfamiliar voices, there were clearly one or more visitors there.

“Colonel Connor, you only arrived in Flashgold Town this afternoon, and there’s no need to deny that; I am well aware. Furthermore, from what I understand, a Knight-in-training would take at least several days to prepare before taking an advanced Magic Potion, even longer, correct?”
“So, I am certain that even if the advanced Magic Potion is not with you, it must be on that lucky individual, isn’t it?”
“Besides, gentlemen, just by making an introduction, you could earn the friendship of Lord Marquis Fritz; isn’t it worth serious consideration?”
At this point, the room fell briefly silent.
It seemed due to Connor and Hamilton not speaking, the male named Gordon continued:
“Gentlemen, one of Lord Marquis Fritz’s descendants practices the Giant Bear Breathing Technique, which is why he requires this advanced Magic Potion this time.”
“Furthermore, I can assure both of you that I will offer the lucky individual a compensation that will surely satisfy him.”
Hearing this, Rein knew that trouble was at the door!
