Hee-Young quickly texted with one of her employees to see if these metrics were legitimate, and after they were confirmed to be accurate, she showed her laptop screen to Diana. Before speaking the truth aloud.
“In this last quarter alone, since I allowed Alex some control over my company, we have increased our profits by three times that of the previous quarter… Just what the hell did that idiot do to accomplish such a thing?”
Diana turned her screen over to reveal a similar state of affairs. Albeit significantly less than Hee-Young’s cosmetics corporation.
“We have increased our revenue by 25% in the last quarter… Obviously it’s different for you, since your company was operating in the red…”
The two women gasped at one another and quickly contacted their employees for an explanation as to why this was the case. And after several hours of discussing the matter, there was a single conclusion. In the case of both companies, Alex had axed a significant amount of employees who were paid to do essentially nothing all day.
He got rid of those whose performance was lacking, those who were actively embezzling from the companies, and those whose jobs were simply unnecessary. In the case of Diana’s company, Alex had entirely axed the DEI department and half of the HR department. Placing new company policies that made the corporation an actual company with the goal of making money, rather than a glorified daycare for adults who had the mental maturity of a child.
In fact, Alex had pretty much axed every employee who made complaints to HR about pointless shit, or started meaningless drama over things that were unrelated to work, such as a coworkers social media posts. As far as he was concerned, if someone said something outside of work and off the clock, it was not his problem.
By getting rid of the unproductive, and the leeches, and the outright incompetent, Alex had saved the company quite a bit of money. Not only that, but he had begun focusing on marketing that actually promoted the product, instead of social engineering.
In the case of Hee-Young’s cosmetics company, Alex hired Mimi, whose popularity was at an all-time high, as a brand ambassador. If Mimi promoted the product both in commercials and on her social media, then countless young Korean girls would follow suit. And this had increased sales exponentially.
Alex also made sure that the actual products were top-notch, but made them for as affordable of a price as the company could manage to sell it for. Yet Alex decided to make the brand more accessible to the public, while still maintaining its quality. And once a “designer” brand was made less expensive, the middle class swarmed to get their hands on it. Even if it wasn’t a “designer’ brand that was previously selling enough to make an actual profit.
Thus, Hee-Young’s cosmetics company was quickly able to turn an actual profit, for the first time since she had made the corporation. As for Diana’s company, Alex began reaching out to smaller MMA promotions, and using his newly obtained properties, such as his event centers, to begin hosting events. Giving some of the Ultimate Fighting Challenger’s competitors a spot in Vegas on a grand stage. One that they would previously not have been given a chance at, due to Dan Weiss’s influence in the region.
This, of course, made Dan Weiss upset when these smaller competitors began hosting fights in Vegas, at decent sized venues, but Alex didn’t care. He was an independent contractor, and if the man really wanted to kick him out of the promotion over something as petty as this, then Alex could go to Asia and fight for their biggest competitor.
After coming to the conclusion that Alex might actually be a brilliant businessman like he claimed he was. Diana and Hee-Young silently nodded their heads as if they had come to a sudden conclusion about the man they both loved.
