After Kain divided the materials with Kairos, and also extracted the materials from his solo orange-grade kills, he headed back to his temporary living quarters in exhaustion.
I guess due to the poor atmosphere from Alexei’s contract being severely injured, Oliver wasn’t inclined to continue pestering everyone to stay up and play games.
Additionally, unlike yesterday, Ezra stayed in the living quarters with them this time. So without any delay, everyone quickly showered, changed, and then went to bed.
However, while everyone was in bed and snores began to ring out around him, Kain decided to look at his System.
The past two days of battle, while difficult, had been the most lucrative period by far for Kain for GP.
After two days of battle, he now had 8630 GP. The distance to next System upgrade no longer felt so far. Therefore, as long as it wasn’t anything too expensive, if he saw something that would be helpful in the System Shop, or if had a Simulation he wanted to try, he wouldn’t be so resistant.
Kain first opened the System shop which had refreshed this morning.
The first option was for a custom 2-star weapon, an item that Kain had exchanged for previously. However, Kain chose to not exchange for it since his current weapon was suitable for him. Once he breaks through to 3-stars, hopefully an exchange opportunity for a custom 3-star weapon will be made available that he will definitely purchase.
The next option was an Enhancement Elixir. It will temporarily boost the physical abilities, and spiritual power of the user by 100%. It also won’t conflict with the use of any other elixirs, so Kain would still be able to use it after using the Spiritual Elixir. It can serve as an additional trump card for him if he were in a desperate situation.
After all, today’s events showed him that the situation can change at any time. Therefore, it’d be nice to have this potion to depend on.
However, the cost of 1500 GP seemed a bit steep. Kain decided to hold off on purchasing it until the battle situation really called for it. If he, ideally, is able to get through the entire duration of the beast tide without having to make the exchange, then that would be the best case scenario.
Then there was a ticket for a Wheel of Fortune that already had a theme selected—Lab Equipment. And the cost was 2000 GP, even more expensive than the Enhancement Elixir. However, Kain was extremely tempted to make the exchange. Kain currently only had one piece of lab equipment, the Simulator, and it was already a huge game changer for him.
He was intrigued by what otherworldly effects the other pieces of equipment may have. However, making the exchange wasn’t urgent, and it was unlikely that it’d boost his current abilities greatly within a short period. Therefore, Kain decided to wait until the beast tide was finished before making the exchange.
However, he decided that even if it did delay his System upgrading, he will make the before the System Shop refreshes again.
After all, if he misses this opportunity who knows when another suitable opportunity will present itself.
Last, but not least, available for purchase was a B-level spiritual skill tome. According to the description, the skill tome will allow the beast-tamer tome to exchange their spiritual power to an all-round boost to their contract’s abilities and spiritual power at a ratio of 2 to 1 once mastered.
Meaning that if Kain sacrificed 100% of his spiritual power, he could provide his spiritual creatures with a 50% of boost to their strength and abilities, and restore their spiritual power by 50%. Considering that majority of a beast-tamer combat ability is reliant on their contracts, it wasn’t a bad exchange at all.
Especially, when without the use of a skill that allows for a more efficient exchange of his spiritual power to his contracts, when he supplies his spiritual power to Bea and Eve to boost their abilities and increase their spiritual power, the exchange is definitely much worse.
After exchanging 100% of his spiritual power, he may be lucky to even restore Bea’s spiritual power and give a boost to about 10-15%
The cost of 800 GP, also isn’t too bad. However, to fully master the skill will take time. Until he fully masters the skill, the exchange ratio will be much worse, likely starting at 5 to 1 and then gradually improving to a ratio of 2 to 1 may not be achieved until months from now. If his talent for spiritual skills is really poor, it may even take years.
This was another purchase that Kain decided to table for now and then consider making after the beast-tide ended. After all, more GP may be made from missions in the future, but there’s no guarantee that these items will reappear in the shop in the future. If he misses them now and needs them in the future, he’d regret it greatly.
If Kain were to exchange for all of these items, it would total 4300 GP. Which would almost perfectly reduce the GP he’d currently saved by half.
Therefore, he chose to categorize them based on the order of importance by situation. If the beast-tide tomorrow and the coming days takes a turn for the worse, then he will resolutely make the exchange for the Enhancement Elixir.
Once the beast-tide ends, regardless of how much GP he saves, he will exchange for the opportunity to get more lab equipment, and considering how cheap the skill tome is, he will also purchase it after the beast-tide. If he’s lucky, he’ll be able to fully master the spiritual skill before the re-ranking.
But even if he doesn’t have it fully mastered, being able to provide an all-round increase to the abilities of his contract by even 30 to 40% would be a huge advantage against his peers.
