By the time Luo Ziling and his friends arrived, the open area outside apartment number 2 had already been flooded with people.
The entire place was packed with curious students, as well as a few security personnel who were standing guard just in case. Even the auntie who ran the female dormitory was present. Though, she didn’t seem like she was prepared to intervene in the matter.
It appears that Lu Weiguang was more influential than Luo Ziling had thought; he did not expect for even that auntie to be on his side.
Luo Ziling was pissed but his thoughts were drowned out by the intelligible screaming of the horde that surrounded him. Layers upon layers of noisy students created a near impenetrable barrier between him and Lu Weiguang.
Suddenly, a group of students started chanting a name in unison, “Yang Qingyin! Yang Qingyin!”
Their deafening chant drowned out even the greater crowd. Though, their chant gradually died down and the entire place finally returned to dead silence.
A man’s voice broke the silence, “Qingyin! If you’re there, which I know you are, please listen to what I have to say. I fell for you the moment our eyes met for the first time. I love you! And I promise to be your sole protector for the rest of my life. I am willing to be your source of happiness. Please! Accept my feelings for you. Will you be my girlfriend?”
Of course, that man was none other than the chick magnet, Lu Weiguang.
Although Luo Ziling had only spoken to him once, that instance alone was enough for him to notice his distinct voice, which he was now able to recognize in an instant. Not knowing whether or not Yang Qingyin was present, Luo Ziling had no other choice but to force his way to the front of the crowd.
At that moment, it felt like something precious was about to be taken away from him.
Lu Weiguang’s question was followed by silence. Then, all of a sudden, the crowd started shuffling away from the center, almost causing Cao Jianhui and Luo Ziling to topple over. Grabbing the opportunity, the two pushed with all their might against a couple of shorter guys and smashed straight through the crowd.
As Luo Ziling stumbled forwards, emerging from the crowd, a woman dressed in white slowly entered his view. There wasn’t much distance between the two of them, maybe only 6 meters at the most.
The hundreds of candles on the ground lit up the place quite brightly.
A jolt travelled up Luo Ziling’s spine the moment he got a better view of that woman.
She, of course, was none other than Yang Qingyin.
Her gaze was fixed ahead, ignoring everyone else that stood around her. She seemed to have sensed something weird when she heard the vague sound of students cursing as Luo Ziling and his comrade, Cao Jianhui, squeezed through the crowd. Slowly, she turned towards the source of said commotion.
“Oh my lord she looks prettier than that photo” said Cao Jianhui excitedly as he leaned against Luo Ziling’s shoulder. “You see that? That’s Yenching U’s prettiest lass, Yang Qingyin. She’s as pretty as an angel, don’t ya think? Ah, I’m melting away. I think I’m in love with her now. What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do? Huh? Ah! Ahhhh!!!”
Because he was too preoccupied with Yang Qinying, who was making her way towards them, Cao Jianhui did not notice how odd Luo Ziling was acting.
“S-She’s smiling! A-At me!” Cao Jianhui’s voice was trembling. “M-My Goddess has f-finally answered my prayers! A-hahaha! I finally know what it’s like to be in love now! As expected of Yenching University’s prettiest girl!”
Ignoring his friend who was going through a mental breakdown, Luo Ziling kept his eyes fixed on Yang Qinying.
The two locked gazes before she finally stopped and flashed him a smile. Seeing her smile, the depressed feeling he had a moment ago completely melted away.
He responded with a smile of his own. A beaming smile.
At the same time, Lu Weiguang walked over and presented the bouquet of roses to his dream girl. “Qinying, this is for you. I hope you like them.”
Lu Weiguang took the fact that she had left her dorm and walked straight into his confession site as her silent acceptance of his feelings for her.
However, he quickly realized that something was off. Yang Qinying’s eyes weren’t on him. No, she was looking at another guy. Worse still, that bastard was smiling like a retard.
In an instant, he was able to recognize who that fool was. That damned Luo Ziling!
The smile on Lu Weiguang’s face stiffened up as soon as he realized that Yang Qinying was in fact, smiling at Luo Ziling.
“Accept his love! Accept his love! Accept his love!” chanted the paid crowd that surrounded Yang Qinying.
They were all the supposed “fans” of Lu Weiguang. Perhaps the word “reinforcement troops” was better suited since they were assigned the task of creating the optimum atmosphere for Yang Qinying to accept his confession.
Everything had been planned from the start. These “reinforcements” would start chanting when Yang Qinying came down to face Lu Weiguang, in order to recreate a romantic scene out of a generic chick-flick.
Lu Weiguang, who no longer felt the magic in the air, felt increasingly annoyed by these ridiculous chants. Still, he couldn’t back down now. The only way out for him was to press forward and to make clear his feelings for Yang Qinying.
“Boss, do you think Yang Qinying will accept that dude’s feelings?” asked Cao Jianhui excitedly. “If that happens, this’ll be the greatest moment for Yenching University, dontcha think? They’ll truly become the most attractive couple in the history of our school! Ugh, why didn’t I think of this first?”
Luo Ziling remained silent. Nervously, he moved towards Yang Qinying at a snail’s pace. An urge rose within him to grab hold of her hand and run away.
However, he knew that he didn’t have the guts to do such a thing.
Also, there was no need to do such a thing.
Cao Jianhui did not mind how Luo Ziling had ignored him as he was intently watching as the scene slowly unfolded before him.
Finally, the wild chanting of Lu Weiguang’s squad died down.
“If someone were to use such a method to confess his love for me, I think I’d faint from happiness,” said a girl in the crowd. “This is too romantic! Too sweet! I’ll never forget this! Quick! Accept his love!”
“No! Don’t do that!”, said a man unhappily. “Yang Qinying is my goddess! I know that I’ll never be her boyfriend but I don’t want to see her with another man either! How would I live on for another 2 years at this university if that were to happen?”
Another girl responded to the man, “Yeah! I hope that Yang Qinying rejects Lu Weiguang too! Because he’s my man! If he gets another chick, how am I supposed to live?!”
As the crowd was chattering away, the graceful Yang Qingyin reached out her arm like a queen, and…
