One of the robbers lost his patience and said, “Damn stutter, is this the time to mess around? Hurry up, use that girl to exchange for the money!”
“Who… who’s messing around? My arm…. My arm is going to break. OWWWww…” Gu Ye slightly shook her little hand and the big fool shrieked all over again.
“That’s all you got and you want to be robbers? Go home and train for 20 more years first!” With a swift push, the big fool who was twice her size stumbled out and fell on the ground.
Seeing that the big fool’s face was pole and covered in cold sweat, the other robbers realized he wasn’t faking after all. They exchanged a look and new that had run into a tough party. These hooligans had normally only been bullying the weak and the old in town, or to collect some protection fees from the villagers who were on their way to make some purchases in town. This was the first time they have attempted robbery and they hadn’t expected they would run into someone some strong on their very first try.
Even the girl who wasn’t even 10 year old was so strong, what was the point in staying to fight? They should run! They would only be beaten up some more if they didn’t run faster enough!! The leader of the group realized they were in trouble and was the first to dash. He was actually a surprisingly fast runner! The rest of them didn’t want to be left behind and one by one they started dashing and each one of them faster than the last.
Except for the big fool. He was still in pain from the kick to his stomach, and now half of his body had gone numb. He struggled for a while on the ground and couldn’t even get up on his feet. Seeing the “terrifying” grandfather and grandchild approaching him slowly, he suddenly burst into tears, “Please… please don’t beat me up… I… I… will never do this again!”
“Look at you! How did you find the courage to come out in the first place?” A tiny girl with a childish face lecturing a man that was much older than her with the experienced tone of an adult was really quite an interest scene.
Gu Xiao chuckled from one side – how was his granddaughter so amusing? No wonder the old general and his family were crazy for a girl in the family. A granddaughter as interesting as hers, he could use a dozen more!
“Will you try to rob others again?” Gu Ye grabbed a dried wild foxtail millet and swung it at the big fool.
The big fool shrieked as though he was tortured, “OOWWww… No, I will never do that again… please just let me go….” He was so frightened that even his stuttering went away.
“And will you bully the weak again?” She swung the wild foxtail millet at him again.
The big fool shuddered again and shook his head, “Never! Never again!!” And, who was the weak right now and who’s being bullied? The big fool just wanted to cry.
“Good. Keep in mind that next time you are going to follow someone else, open up your dog’s eyes and find someone more decent. You really should stay away from someone who’d run away faster than any one else when things go south. Otherwise they’d sold you and you’d still be counting the money for them!” said Gu Ye as she kind-heartedly teaching him the lesson that he should be a better judge of characters.
“Yes, yes, yes…. Once I get back, I will stay away from them and never hang out with them again!” If the big fool’s parents could hear his sincere regret, they would for sure be extremely appreciative of Gu Ye. The couple had tried everything, said everything, and been worried sick hoping that their son would turn out good to no avail. A word from this little girl seemed to be more effective than thousands of tens of thousands of words from them!
Seeing that it was starting to get late, Gu Xiao patted his granddaughter on her shoulder and smiled, “Okay, stop messing around with him. We better be on our way.”
