“This is not Rex!”, Evelyn mumbles in surprise.
The figure that landed in the middle of the descendants is familiar to Evelyn, even Dray who just got up was stunned upon seeing the figure as he too felt this figure is familiar.
Both of them then look at where Rex was before and finds that he’s still there.
Rex is still standing on top of the weird-shaped rock with the overbearing lightning aura that is leaking out of him, the Spirit Core in the middle of his chest also glows violently.
The perfected round shape of the Spirit Core shows that he has reached the seventh rank.
Upon seeing Rex standing there,
Evelyn and Dray glance at each other before their eyes fall onto the figure in front of them.
They both realized that if it was not Rex in front of them then there was only one explanation, ‘Spirit Shadow!’, both of them exclaimed at the same time inside their heads.
Devo landed in the middle of the descendants,
His body is that of a human standing on two legs with two arms, but the grey color of his skin makes him look cloudy, especially added the mists and black lightning that are sparking around his arms and legs violently.
Aside from that, the chains on Devo’s arms are black unlike before.
Devo’s faceless face only contains two black eyes sparkling with black lightning, there is also a black translucent robe that looks more like a veil crossing his muscular upper body.
Other descendants also soon notice Devo is standing amongst them,
Because they’re familiar with a spirit shadow since many of their families have a seventh rank Awakened, the descendants realize what Devo is in an instant.
But something is amiss from Devo as a Spirit Shadow,
The other descendants look down to Devo’s feet before all of their eyes widen,
Dray who is the closest one standing to Devo gasps in surprise as he can’t believe what he was seeing, “Where’s the inking shadow?!”
“How can it be so far from Rex?!”, he added in utter shock.
Hearing this, Evelyn also gasp as she realized what Dray meant.
A seventh rank Awakened’s Spirit Shadow is a materialization of their spirit to fight alongside them, but the spirit is limited by the Awakened’s shadow hence the name Spirit Shadow.
This link between the Awakened and the Spirit is called linking shadow,
The spirit can only move at a certain range from the Awakened since the linking shadow can only stretch so far, an exceptional Awakened can have their spirit move in a 300 feet radius.
Devo on the other hand doesn’t have that link with Rex,
Even right now, Devo and Rex are separated by at least a mile since Rex is way above the weird-shaped rock looking down on them.
After a moment of adjusting, Devo slowly straightens his back.
Devo easily reaches a towering nine feet with muscular body, he glances around the descendants while feeling his own body for a moment before laughing out loud.
The laugh is low-pitch baritone but it got muffled by the sounds of the rain.
“Ah… Finally, I have my own body to materialize into”, Devo suddenly said after laughing.
Hearing that Devo can talk struck a powerful shock onto the descendants, not one of the spirits of a seventh rank Awakened they knew can talk like this.
Much less functioning as if has a mind of his own like Devo,
Rex looks at Devo’s appearance in a physical body from afar with a smile, this confirms that he indeed reaches the seventh rank realm.
Although Devo is far from him, Rex can feel both of them connected.
‘It’s a bit hard to control him, but this is probably because it’s my first time controlling a Spirit Shadow’, Rex thought before he looks up feeling the droplets of water hitting his face.
The droplets of water feel good as if it massages Rex’s face with every hit.
But then suddenly, Rex opens his eyes as he saw a couple of notifications that popped into his vision in response to reaching the seventh rank.

Rex wanted to read the Unification Insight Pill that he got but he suddenly sensed many auras surrounding the place, they are not the descendants’ auras, ‘Why have they all come out?’
Out of nowhere, the mutated animals around the canyon started coming out.
The mutated animals that are hiding in the shade started coming out of their hiding spot, they started to surround the entire place like a swarm of ants.
It may be because of the thunderclouds blocking the sun have they all come out.
But Rex frown as he can feel all of the mutated animals are glaring at him specifically, this shows that the mutated animals come out due to his powerful energy instead.
Just from briefly counting, Rex finds that there are at least a thousand of them.
These mutated animals can vary from mutated lizards that seem to have earth element affinity, mutated crocks with water element affinity, and even mutated birds with lightning affinity.
Usually, mutated animals will flee if they feel a powerful aura,
But this is a bit unusual seeing them coming out instead of running, Rex looks around before he frowns, ‘If they’re being like this, then there might be a leader’, he thought.
If a powerful aura doesn’t scare them, then there must be a leader who also has such an aura.
When Rex is thinking, a notification appeared,

The reward from completing the sudden quest is very good, even the exp part almost makes Rex choke on his own saliva just from seeing the zeros.
But from the sudden quest,
Rex’s suspicion seems to be true, there’s a leader amongst the mutated animals.
If these mutated animals are not scared of his aura, then there must be a leader who has an equivalent or even stronger aura than him.
By the quest reward alone, Rex knows that this will be a tough fight.
Then suddenly, [Do you want to get rid of these things? We can wipe them all out if you want to], Devo asks while looking at him from below.
Since Rex and Devo are one, they can talk through telepathy inside their heads.
‘Oh? Do you have something to show me Devo?’, Rex asks back with a smile, he remembered that Devo wanted to show him something when he reaches the seventh rank.
Hearing this, Devo crooked up a smile, [I’ll show you what I’m capable of]
‘Then show me, but first, absorb this and you’ll realize that you can become stronger in an unnatural way’, Rex replied before tapping on the inventory.
Back to the descendants,
Evelyn looks around and finds that they’re surrounded by mutated animals.
The other descendants are already activating their elements in case these mutated animals jumped, but there’s a hint of worry in their eyes as they look at the mutated animals.
Not many of the mutated animals are below sixth rank power,
Only a handful of them has fifth rank power while the rest of them has sixth rank power, on top of that, the majority of them have an affinity with an element.
This only heightened the difficulty of fighting them,
Evelyn and other descendants that are fire Elementalist will have a hard time fighting the mutated crocs that have a water affinity, their attacks will just be ineffective.
Added with the river water they’re in, fire spells will be weakened heavily.
The same goes for other Awakened like Dray who is a wind Elementalist, he will be having a hard time penetrating the thick skin of mutated animals with earth affinity.
It was unexpected for them to be surrounded by these mutated animals,
p But then suddenly, they sensed that Devo on the side steps forward slightly before he said, “Rex told you guys to stand back and leave this to me”
“How can you talk? Who are you?”, Dray asks still in shock.
Hearing this, Devo scoffed before he replied, “Don’t compare me with weak spirits like yours, I’m not a weak spirit. As for your other question…”

Devo’s aura becomes even more chaotic making the descendants move behind Devo.

The chaotic aura cracked the ground beneath Devo as his aura shot to the sky, even Dray can’t help but jump back just like the other descendants.
All of them know that Rex or Devo will handle this,
For the descendants, this is one of the reasons for inviting Rex aside from making sure the loot is separated evenly, with him here the descendants will also be protected.
Some of the descendants here are not from Rex’s team during the UWO mission,
But hearing his feats during the mission still surprises them, so they agreed to invite Rex to explore the canyon with them.

Just like that, his Spirit Core started to absorb the crown of lightning.
As the Lightning Ego gets absorbed by Rex’s Spirit Core, the Spirit Core noticeably becomes stronger in reflection to Devo whose aura becomes even more terrifying.
It amounted to a horrifying degree that even Rex himself get surprised.
Devo laughs even louder as he can feel his spirit energy get stronger, the amount of power filling every nook and corner of his body makes him feel rejuvenated like being born again.
This was like a blessing from the Warden itself,
Now Devo is equivalent to a spirit that has lived for 15,000 years! His spirit energy was raised by an accumulation of 3,000 years just by Rex absorbing the Lightning Ego.
“You want to know who I am?”, Devo glanced back with a confident smile.
The lightning that is cracking around his body becomes even more chaotic, the mutated animals even have second thoughts about fighting against Devo.
Hearing this, Dray who is on Devo’s back glanced at him before nodding his head.
With excited eyes, Devo turns back towards the mutated animal before he looks up to the sky while spreading his arms to the side as if he’s hugging the sky.
The spirit energy coming out of him is ridiculous,
Under the descendants’ eyes, the lightning bubble on Devo’s hand sucked in the surrounding lightning mana that has becomes abundant thanks to the thunderclouds.
Just like fighting water Elementalist in a river or a sea,
Lightning Elementalist will become stronger fighting under a thunderstorm just like now, the lightning mana is abundant here thanks to that.
This is what makes Devo a very powerful spirit,
Devo has the ability to manipulate the weather into his own terrain, fighting him at a disadvantage will never happen thanks to that.
After gathering mana like crazy, Devo then shouted, “I’m the strongest spirit above the sky!”

A wave of spirit energy mixed with lightning mana exploded from Devo’s body shocking the mutated animals, and right after that, the rain turns black color.
The canyon instantly got rained down with black water, it was like raining ink.
Evelyn got hit by one of the black water as it is impossible to dodge a droplet of water inside a rain, she glance at her shoulder and finds the black water left a mark on her shoulder.
The mark is a symbol of a black door that can’t be erased,
Other descendants also tried to erase the symbol but it needs them to almost deplete their mana, and even then the mark still stubbornly stayed.
With a wave of Devo’s hand, the mark disappears from the descendants’ bodies.
But all of the mutated animals in the surrounding has this mark on their body, and with that, Devo then glance back at Rex, [They’re ready to be slaughtered]
‘Then don’t mind me’, Rex thought before his body blasted with sky black lightning.
Rex summons a ball of sky black lightning above him that is starting to gain mass by the second, the energy emitted from this lightning ball strikes fear in everyone around it.
RUMBLE!
The sky started rumbling responding to Rex but then suddenly,
ROAR!!
A loud roar reverberated powerfully, this snaps the mutated animals out of their daze.
The mutated animals started to gallop forward intending to attack, but Rex was not going to let the mutated animals near them, “Great Lightning Spell!”
“Sky Rupture Assortment!!”
Just after Rex’s chant, the entire sky flashes brightly.
There’s not a single sound as Evelyn and the other descendants look up, they saw the entire sky lit up brightly before hundreds of lightning strikes descend from the sky.
It was very silent, they can’t hear the rain for a moment until suddenly,
CRACK!!
KABOOM!!
Each and every mutated animal that is marked by the black rain got hit by a lightning strike.
The hundreds of lightning strikes descend from the sky at the same time,
A powerful deafening thunder sound was created as the ground shook upon impact, the spell is so strong that it spans tens of miles radius.
It’s like the lightning judgment of the sky, but this is all are only the work of one man.
Some of the stronger mutated animals wanted to dodge the lightning strikes, but the lightning strike turns toward them just like a homing missile.
They can’t escape the lightning strike as hundreds of them fall,

All of the descendants covered their entire bodies with their element fearing they might get hit, but they found that none of them got hit by the sky black lightning strike.
None of the lightning strikes manage to even strike near them, only the mutated animals got hit.
This makes the descendants realize that Rex becomes, even more, stronger, he has perfect control of the lightning strikes unlike during the mission before.
Once again he makes the descendants realize that he’s way above them,
The volley of sky black lightning strikes didn’t end just by wiping a quarter of the mutated animals, but another volley of black lightning strikes happens again.
Evelyn falls to her feet as the ground shook alongside the volley of lightning strikes.
All of the poor mutated animals got strikes until there are none left.
From the addition of the encouraging weather summoned by Devo, Rex’s Sky Rupture spell becomes even more powerful thanks to the weather that increases the lightning mana.
None of the mutated animals can stand one lightning strike,
Not even the mutated birds with lightning affinity, all of them got charred and killed from the raining sky black lightning strikes, the might of Rex.
Rex is standing fiercely looking down at the scattering mutated animals,
