Since Rex decided to bring Linda to the Banquet to accompany him, there's no chance that Linda didn't tell something like this to her boss, Vargas.

This makes Hans grit his teeth, "Excuse me"
Without even answering Rex's sarcastic question, Hans excuses himself as he tries to walk away from the scene but Rex was not about to let him go that easily.

But with a bit of anger, Hans grabbed Rex's hand that is holding his shoulder, "Let go of me, Rex. I'm not going to ask twice", he said threateningly.
