<Killed Lountain City Awakened 2/3>
The notification from the system rang in front of Rex’s vision as he killed Dito with a punch.
From the start, Rex is not worried because he knows these Awakened that rules over Lountain City are not a problem for him.
They even manage to teach Adhara about anger control and close combat ability.
Based on Edward’s display of terrifying close combat ability, Adhara certainly realized the importance of close combat ability in a fight.
Many of the high-rank Supernatural are experts at close combat ability.
Their body are humanoid so fighting high-rank Supernatural is almost the same as fighting Awakened, but of course, there are some differences such as their natural stronger body or even their superior senses.
Rex read the system notification before he frowns,
‘Wait, Didn’t we already kill 3 of them? Why is it still 2?’, Rex thought in confusion.
He then looks at Fergus’ corpse before his eyes widen in realization, ‘Edward’s kill doesn’t count?! I totally forgot about that’, Rex thought.
Since Edward is not his pack member, the system didn’t count his kill.
After sighing for his carelessness, Rex glance at the last Awakened, Yosef.
Yosef is currently on the ground as his legs gave out,
Rex’s display of power brought him on his butt as he saw how Rex killed Dito, the strongest Awakened here like killing a nobody.
If Dito is no match for Rex, what can a measly early fourth rank like him can do.
Yosef’s body started to sweat as he saw Rex walking closer to him, there is no expression on Rex’s face just his neutral cold, and scary look.
Rex stopped in front of Yosef as his eyes looks down on him,
“Are you also going to fight me?”, Rex asks coldly as his hand dripped with fresh blood.
The scene of three corpses behind him that are soaked by the rain already creates pools of blood that make Yosef’s teeth start to shiver, but it’s not from the cold, but from fear instead.
Yosef wanted to say something but his breathing becomes stagnant as he gasp for air.
It seems that the pressure coming from Rex and the others are too much,
Rex stretches out his hand towards Yosef making Yosef close his eyes in fright, but then, Rex tapped his shoulder and said, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill you”
Hearing this, Yosef opened his eyes in confusion, “Eh?”
Without explaining to Yosef, Rex stands up before Kyran approached him from the back.
“Should we kill him too?”, he asks with a devious smile.
This makes Yosef startled as Kyran looks at him disturbingly as if he was about to eat him whole, this scares him again.
Rex saw Kyran’s weird evil smile and shakes his head, “No, we’re not going to kill him”
After saying that, Rex called for Edward.
“Go down to the village and tell them to return to the city, the deed is done and they can go live here again”, Rex instructed before Edward dashes away without answering.
Right after Edward left, Adhara stopped beside Rex while looking at Edward leaving.
“How was the show? Do you learn anything from them?”, Rex asks.
Adhara sigh lightly before she replied, “I got angry when I fight that’s my first mistake, by looking at Edward’s fight I learn that I’m still lacking in my close combat ability”
“As for your fight, I got absolutely nothing from it”, Adhara added with a slight chuckle.
The fight between Rex and Dito is not much of a contest of skill, but rather, an overwhelming defeat of Dito that can’t do anything against Rex.
Rex also chuckles lightly because he too knows that he didn’t do anything fancy.
After they both have their laughs, silence covered both of them as the sound of the rains fills their background subtly.
“You really need to make him one of your pack”, Adhara suddenly said.
Her words break the silence as Rex looks at her in surprise, his expression then turns into a frown before he shakes his head, “I just can’t bring myself to tell him”
“Come on, Edward will certainly understand, and also he will be a huge addition to the pack”, Adhara rebutted harshly.
But Rex is still not convinced, “I’ll think about it”, Rex finally said.
Adhara looks at him weirdly, her expression changes for a moment before she turns her face away looking in the direction where Edward disappeared to.
Not long after that, the villagers came with Edward leading them.
Lountain City that has just been saved from slavery rejoices as some of them reunited with their abandoned parents, the city becomes whole again.
Even the guards are happy about these changes, it seems they’re forced by the Awakened before.
While looking at the celebrating people from the side, Rex and the others smile lightly knowing that they did the right thing.
‘Is this what happened to many cities outside of Ratmawati City?’, Rex thought with a frown.
From the two meetings, he had with other Awakened in cities outside of Ratmawati City, Rex found both meetings are displeasing.
The first one Rex met is the group of mad Awakened.
Instead of fighting for the city from the Orcs siege, the Awakened drains the city resources instead feeling that their situation is hopeless and it’s better to enjoy their last moments.
Rex killed them all without mercy, and he didn’t regret it.
Now the second one was worst,
In pursuit of power, these Awakened in Lountain City rule over the city like a tyrant and use the people to mine the caves filled with Lightning Stones.
They didn’t care about the weak ones and tossed them out of the city.
Even the orphans that should be looked after got tossed aside without any sympathy.
‘Is this how an Awakened act without the supervision of UWO or the FAA?’, Rex thought as his expression darkened.
Because of this, he had a change of view regarding the Awakened.
While he’s thinking, a voice suddenly called out to him, “You really manage to do it…”
Rex glance to his front and saw the village head,
The woman is looking at him with teary eyes as she can’t believe Rex manage to do it, it’s like a dream come true for her.
“I told you, they’re not gods”, Rex replied with a slight smile.
But then suddenly, the woman ran in Rex’s direction and gives him a big hug.
This caught Rex off guard as his eyes widen in surprise, he hugs the woman lightly before feeling a glare from the side coming from Adhara.
It makes Rex smile wryly before he pushes the woman lightly.
“I-I’m sorry”, the woman said with a slight blush while fidgeting with her fingers.
Rex looks at her before he said awkwardly, “It’s nothing, you’re simply excited that’s all”
After Rex said that, Adhara approached him from the side before she pinched Rex’s side hard with a grumpy expression.
But Rex only glance at her with a smirk, “You know that won’t hurt me right?”
Swoosh!
“Alright, alright I get it!”, Rex wail in pain as Adhara imbued her purple fire to her pinch that burns Rex’s side.
Looking at this, the woman averted her gaze shyly.
But then, Rex suddenly remembers something, “You! Come here!”, Rex points at Yosef before signaling for him to come here.
“Y-Yes?”, Yosef approached and said fearfully.
After Yosef arrive beside him, Rex glance at the woman and said, “You will have to become the city’s major and regulate the city”
“What?!”, the woman asks in shock.
With the Awakened deaths, the city has to pick someone to become their leader.
Rex didn’t want Yosef to govern the city because he just stood there and let Dito and the others do their crime, so he thinks that the woman is suitable for the position.
“Think about it, nobody cares for the city and its people more than you”, Rex said.
Hearing this, the woman frowns as she thinks about the proposal.
Seeing that the woman is still hesitant, Rex then added, “With me saving the city, I can back your claim and no one will complain you stepping as the mayor of the city”
After a brief moment, the woman finally nodded her head.
“Yosef will be the head of the city guard and also your guard”, Rex said with an authoritative tone that doesn’t want to be rebuked.
But upon hearing this, Yosef said meekly, “B-But why?”
“Why you say? This woman beside you is the reason I spare your lives”, Rex said harshly.
With him not killing Yosef, Rex is also abandoning the quests.
This makes Rex quite in a bad mood but he already agreed to the woman, and backing out from his word makes him feel bad about himself.
Hearing this, Yosef widen her eyes before his eyes landed on the woman who is avoiding his surprised gaze.
But while they’re talking, a sweet little voice suddenly called out.
“Mister!”, a little girl ran towards Rex while still holding the same teddy bear and the pouch that he gave her before.
Rex went to his knee as the little girl approaches,
“Mister, Is this all you?”, the little girl asks while pointing at the surrounding people that are still celebrating with happiness.
Hearing this, Rex smiles, “Of course, Aren’t I cool?”
“Mister is super cool!”, the little girl said while giving Rex two thumbs up.
Looking at this, Rex’s expression turns tender as he caressed the little girl’s head, “Now you can live in the city again, nobody’s going to hurt you”
The little girl nodded her head sweetly,
But then suddenly, “Mister, What is that?”, the little girl points at a small object on the ground.
Rex look at the round object before he realized that it’s one of Dito’s eyes, he quickly stands up and kick the eye away.
“Nothing”, Rex said with a wry smile.
After briefly playing with the little girl, Rex stands up once more as the little girl runs back to a group of little kids that are waiting for her.
Before he speaks with the woman again, Rex can feel Adhara looking at him from the side.
“You’re surprisingly kind to kids, I’m surprised!”, Adhara said teasingly.
But Adhara can’t hide the tender gaze he gave Rex upon seeing Rex play with the little girl, the scene shows her a different side of Rex.
Rex looks at the running little girl before he mumbles, “They remind me of myself”
“What did you just say?”, Adhara asks in confusion as she didn’t quite hear what Rex said.
Without answering Adhara, Rex’s attention went back to the woman again before he said, “Make sure to take care of the orphans too, they’re still just a kid”
The woman nodded her head with a smile.
“And also, Yosef!”, Rex called out before his eyes landed on Yosef.
Hearing his name is called, Yosef’s body jolted, “Yes sir!”
“I have a favor to ask from you”, Rex said as he points with his eyes at the little girl that he just talked to before who is playing with the other kids right now.
Both the woman and Yosef can hear what Rex said as their eyes widen.
Meanwhile,
While Rex is talking with the woman and Yosef, Edward approach Kyran who is standing beside Ari waiting for Rex to finish addressing the matters.
“Kyran!”, Edward called attracting both of their attention.
Edward approached them before he too stands beside them, “How did you get inside the city without them attacking you?”
“I showed them that I’m a Dark Elementalist, and there’s also Ari”, Kyran replied.
Hearing this, Edward nodded his head.
But then, Edward suddenly asks, “Oh yeah, I heard that there’s an assassin that manage to infiltrate Rex’s room. What happened to that assassin?”
“I killed her of course”, Kyran replied nonchalantly.
Edward frowns upon hearing Kyran’s nonchalant behavior, but his eyes soon landed on Ari.
“Didn’t you are tasked to guard the room? Where were you when this assassin infiltrate Rex’s room?”, Edward asks Ari with an innocent look.
Ari frowns for a brief moment before he replied, “It seems the assassin use a concealing item”
“Oh really? That must be it”, Edward said with a smile.
He then looks to the front where Rex and Adhara are talking with the woman and Yosef, but Edward then mumbles, “It’s just weird for an assassin to infiltrate Rex’s room easily with you guarding it, it’s as if you let the assassin through”
Edward’s mumbles are loud enough for Ari to hear, and it’s seems intended.
“Isn’t it weird Kyran?”, Edward asks with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
Upon hearing what Edward said, Kyran also frowns.
Although they didn’t exchange words after that, Edward can feel a slight tension in the air that came from Ari.
