By the time Yongwang brought Daohua up to East Mountain, it was already late afternoon. After all the turmoil, dusk was falling.
After laying Fan Lao down, Daohua ran towards the densely vegetated area. Using the cover of night and the foliage, she didn’t immediately vanish into her space this time but chose a large tree to climb.
Daohua stayed motionless, hidden in the nook where branches crossed. Her position was at least ten meters off the ground, making her hard to spot unless one looked up into the tree.
The people searching below had passed by in several waves. Even though no sound could be heard anymore, Daohua didn’t move, waiting until it was completely dark before slowly peeking her head out to look down.
East Mountain had returned to complete silence. She wasn’t sure if those searching for her had retreated or were lying in wait for her to fall into their trap.
Daohua patiently waited another hour, having some fruit from her space, before she climbed down from the tree and cautiously made her way back.
The journey was smooth, but upon reaching the area where she had encountered Fan Lao, she saw torches moving in her direction.
Daohua’s heart tightened. She scanned her surroundings, then started climbing a tree again. By the time she had concealed herself amidst the branches, the group of people was nearly upon her.
“Leader, who are those people really, and how did they find their way to Sishan Village?”
“It’s probably related to the girl brought back by One-eye earlier.”
“Damn it, One-eye has doomed us. Considering their skills and equipment, those people look like Royal Dark Guards. Our place can’t withstand scrutiny; exposure could mean our master’s death.”

Daohua, listening from the tree, suddenly lit up at their words.

The leader twisted the stele, and then the stone tomb opened.
After all of them had gone inside, the tomb closed automatically.

Yongwang’s sudden voice startled Daohua, causing her to fall onto the ground.

Yongwang: “After we split up, I went back to the village. I expected you would come here after night fell since you weren’t caught, so I came here to wait.”
Daohua: “Do you know if outsiders have entered your village?”
Yongwang shook his head: “We can’t hear what’s happening down the mountain here. Why, have people come in? Are they here to rescue you? Then why don’t you go down and join them?”
Daohua didn’t bother to respond, instead pointing at the stone tomb and saying: “I just overheard those in black talking about killing the villagers inside, so I followed them here.”
