“Hey, don’t be mad. Was it just a piece of watermelon?”
Having left the manor, Daohua headed straight for the mountain with her head down.
Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, Xiao Yeyang thought she was angry and had no choice but to go up to her and soften his tone.
Daohua turned and glanced at him, “I’m not angry. If I got upset over something so trivial, I’d have been driven mad by you long ago.”

“Why is your complexion so poor? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?”
Xiao Yeyang looked at Daohua with concern. He recalled how she had been picking grapes under the glaring sun and his face showed a hint of reproach, “What were you doing, picking grapes in such hot weather? Look what’s happened now. You’ve got heat stroke, haven’t you?”
Daohua felt an increasing pain in her lower abdomen and didn’t want to argue, so she said with a mix of anger and weakness, “I don’t have heat stroke. I just ate too much watermelon and my stomach is uncomfortable. I’ll have Manman boil some ginger tea for me later; that should help.”
With that, she passed by Xiao Yeyang and continued walking up the mountain.
Seeing Daohua not in high spirits, Xiao Yeyang didn’t press further and quickly followed her.
Halfway up the mountain, Daohua’s face suddenly looked strange, and then she squatted down clutching her stomach.
Xiao Yeyang was startled and quickly crouched beside her, holding her arm, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling dizzy? I’m telling you, you must have heat stroke.”
Daohua pushed Xiao Yeyang’s hand away, looking somewhat embarrassed, “I don’t have heat stroke. Xiao Yeyang, why don’t you go ahead? I’ll just rest here for a bit…”

Daohua cut him off, “I don’t have heat stroke.” She tugged at Xiao Yeyang’s clothes, “Put me down. I really don’t have heat stroke.”
“If you don’t have heat stroke, why does your face look so bad?”
Seeing Daohua’s pale face, Gu Jian said directly to Xiao Yeyang, “Quick, take her inside the room. I’ll go and prepare the medicine.”

The old Granny Gu, who had just entered the room, was momentarily stunned before she let out a chuckle, looking at her grandson who was beyond anxious, with an air of amused disapproval.
“All right, all right, Yiyi is fine, in a little while, I’ll have Master Gu prepare a bowl of brown sugar ginger tea for her to drink, that will do.”
Xiao Yeyang, not reassured, pointed to the bloodstain on his robe: “But she is injured…”
