The first match of the first round finished, and up next is my battle. Despite the quick conclusion of the battle, the ring needed some quick repairs before the next match. We waited for an additional 15 minutes or so.
“Up next, from the East Gate, we have the winner from the 3rd block! He’s said to be one of the candidates to have a high chance of winning this tournament, one of the favorites! Let’s welcome tamer Guren and his tamed beast Power Kong, Kaiser!”
Even before the announcer finished her line, the audience was already cheering so loud that it was pretty deafening. Despite the deafening cheers coming from the audience stands, my heartbeat feels extremely loud in my senses.
Of course, I am confident that I can win against normal tamers, but confidence and nervousness are two different matters altogether. What, they’re connected? No, not in my dictionary.
While I was blocking my ringing ears, an employee from the arena came and led me to the gate towards the ring. Then, just as we were about to exit, the announcer quickly did an introduction for me.
“Now, from the West Gate! Everybody probably already noticed him as the dark horse of this tournament! He swept the fourth block without getting hit even once, and what’s more, his tamed beast is only at the 1st stage of evolution!”
After reaching this point, the cheers slowly turned into jeers from those who lost their money from betting. What’s more, there were a lot of them, almost half of the whole stadium.
“Let’s welcome Will and his tamed beast Big Slime, Ember!”
At the same moment as my name was called, I exited the gate and walked towards the large stage.
“Amazing, the stage looks no different than before the first match. What quick repair work.”
I couldn’t help but mutter after seeing the unblemished and seemingly newly made stage. Of course, I didn’t have much time to stare as the battle was about to begin.
“Ember, go up and greet your opponent.”
After saying so, ember jiggled before jumping above the ring. Then, she moved forward until they reached the designated position before the match started. On the other side, about a hundred meters away, a large gorilla with yellow fur can be seen. It wasn’t too large, only at 2 meters or so, however, when compared to Ember who didn’t even reach a meter in height, it looks like a giant.
“Okay, then! Before the excitement of the crowd lessens, First Round, second match! Guren versus Will, start!” ｂｏ𝚟𝚕.
Hearing the abrupt start declaration, I quickly sent a telepathic command to Ember.
“The enemy is a power type, use your speed and confuse him first!”
As soon as she heard the command, she quickly used [Cloning] and split herself into two. Then, after that, she quickly turned into a wheel shape before rolling towards the gorilla at full speed.
The Power Kong, looking surprised by the sudden approach, curled up and flexed its muscles, holding its head within its long arms. It was preparing to receive the impact with its muscles that were as strong as steel. However, contrary to its expectation, Ember didn’t tackle him but instead just went around in circles.
With the main body and the clone going around at different timings, the power kong started turning its head left and right in confusion. The tamer Guren on the other side of the ring seemed to be frowning hard.
“Nice, next, enter through its blindspot and [Tackle] its face using your clone!”
The face is one part of its body not covered in strong muscles. That’s why the power kong was hiding its head inside its arms and mountain-like back. Ember quickly passed through the gap in its legs and reached the spot right below the face. The power kong, not expecting an attack from below, was flustered. However, it wasn’t able to block in time.
*Bang!*
Ember’s clone hit the face cleanly, sending its head arching upwards, far from the protection of its arms.
“Now! Pile Bunker combo on its face!”
Ember quickly did as told and using [Polymorph] again, transformed the clone into a shape like a stake, with its pointed side facing the power kong’s head. Then, the main body released a powerful [Tackle] on the rear end of the stake and sent it forward with outstanding speed.
The power kong, who was still reeling from the force of the face tackle couldn’t react in time and was hit. Of course, since the pointed end of the stake wasn’t too sharp, it didn’t pierce through, but the small point of contact aimed at its forehead focused all the force of the attack which was more than enough to rob it of its consciousness.
The poor power kong fell backward powerlessly. Without even giving it a chance to attack, the match was over.
“W-What a surprise! Tamer Guren’s Power Kong fainted! The match ended with Will as the winner! It ended in less than 10 seconds after the start! AMAZING!!!”
The lady announcer didn’t even have the chance to comment on the battle as it ended too fast. After the announcer roared excitedly, the crowd cheered manically.
“God Zeshion, would you please give a comment for this battle?”
Similar to after the first match ended, the announcer once more asked the God Tamer Zeshion for comments. Of course, Zeshion provided a few words to appease the crowd.
“Yeah, he’s a promising tamer. Not only did he manage to make his beast execute a multitude of skills, but he could also even make her use skills in parallel. His ability is definitely above what a novice should be able to do.”
“I see. I did notice the smooth execution of the skills of that slime. It was amazing how there’s little to no stiffening before and after executing the skill.”
As the announcer said, it was common for beasts and monsters to stiffen up before and after using a skill. This is one of the many shortcomings that we overcame after training to use skills in quick succession.
Rather than that, God Zeshion! I wouldn’t forget his face, which I just saw yesterday. It really was him who saved me!
