Meanwhile, Tony was sitting around on the Avengers Base in New York, USA! Since the Avengers parted ways after the Civil War, this place has become quite empty, with the exception of Vision that has remained here and Colonel Rhodes that occasionally came to check on Tony. As for Tony himself, he wasn’t exactly doing nothing either! He was busy designing and creating a new and more powerful Armour and also planning his marriage!
It was because Pepper herself could no longer escape from Tony as her heart has forever been in his grasp, and also because Tony himself has already proposed to Pepper in front of countless media! The two have now finished their engagement ceremony and now waiting for the marriage date! A lot of people came to their engagement, but the absent Avengers member in the event really brought some regrets for Tony.
Although Tony has never acknowledged anything, Pepper could see that he still hoped for them to come. Perhaps that thing that Tony thought was unforgivable has become less important over time.
But today, an unexpected visitor came barging in to the base.
“Are you here alone?” It was the Priestess! She disguised herself as an ordinary person with the power of Reality Gem! No security measure would work with her power as she could manipulate anything that she wanted!
But still, Vision was wary of this woman as he instinctively knew that the woman wasn’t an ordinary person! Her purpose was unknown and therefore exerted caution! Nevertheless, she didn’t do anything to subdue the people in the base.
“This place is lively, but there are some problems, and most of the people that lived here aren’t here anymore!” Pepper said casually.
“What about you? Why don’t you leave too? This place felt like a huge prison, no?” The Priestess said as it looked like she was chatting casually with Pepper.
“Prison? No, I don’t think so, and I am here voluntarily!” Vision said resolutely as he floated closer towards the Priestess.
“Well, you seem weird too? Are you preparing lunch for yourself, perhaps?” the Priestess said as she turned her attention towards Vision with a familiar tone in her voice.
“Although I didn’t cook often, I am just preparing for those who need it! My cooking taste is probably not bad, so if you want to try it, I will prepare some for you!” Vision said honestly. He didn’t quite understand it, but he found it easy to talk honestly with this woman. He knew that he should be wary of some unknown woman that could barge in to the Avengers Base, but he just felt comfortable welcoming her.
“Thank you. I haven’t eaten any normal food for a long time!” The woman said as she sat down on the dining chair in a generous manner. Seeing that the woman didn’t have any bad intentions, Vision that should have notified Tony turned around and started cooking instead!
“Sorry, I did not quite understand what you mean by normal food?!” Vision asked curiously.
“It is what you are making right now! it is a normal food!” The woman said casually.
“But if you say this is normal, what do you usually eat?” Vision asked curiously.
“A fusion of mineral and some organism, it is quite difficult to explain, but the most important thing is that the food tastes bad! Although it does make you live longer!” The woman said casually.
“I understand! Although I could live without food, I try a lot of things, including eating and cooking in order to make me look human!” Vision said honestly.
Vision’s word surprised the woman as she suddenly recalled a memory that she had forgotten. She knew that Vision perhaps had the same mindset as her, and if that was the case, then perhaps, no one really understood what Vision was thinking most of the time!
Probably the only one who could understand Vision in this world was her alone! “This kind of thinking is useless! Even if it’s true, a fake is still a lie and will never become the truth!” the woman said suddenly, breaking the silence.
“Probably, but if you never try anything, you would regret many things later!” Vision said as he began to bring over the food to the table. The woman has stopped talking as she no longer wanted to argue about the topic at hand and focused her attention on the food instead!
She scooped fries to her plate, a slightly burnt fish, a few slices of greasy bacon, a half piece of grilled cheese, poached broccoli, and some beans, along with some peanut sauce toast! The food in front of the woman and Vision were the same, and it did look like an amateur dish!
However, the woman didn’t seem to care at all! She picked up her tableware and tasted the food in front of her. She tried the fish first, and she tasted a fishy taste that was slightly bitter! Its taste was bad, a normal person would find it hard to swallow such a repulsive taste, but the woman just ate it with a slight frown! For the first time in her life, someone has made a dish just for her, but didn’t ask anything in return!
Maybe the ingredients used were ordinary, the cooking was average, and the taste was also nothing special, but it was at least for her without any compensation! But then again, Vision saw that the woman frowned after tasting his cooking!
“Perhaps Mr. Stark was right! I shouldn’t waste my time making a dish that was difficult to eat. You can stop now. There’s no need to force yourself anymore!” Vision said honestly.
“You really didn’t have any talent for cooking, and it was right to think that it would waste your time, but if you really like doing it, why would you care about other people’s thoughts about you? Your life is your own decision. At the very least, you are independent and not a slave or vassal to anyone!” the woman said confidently.
She continued eating her food once more. Although they knew that the food was bad, the woman didn’t seem to mind at all as she kept eating until she almost finished everything! Vision didn’t even eat his food as she was staring at her absentmindedly. Apparently, her word really spoke volumes. Even Mr. Stark never said anything like that to him in the past!
Perhaps, in Tony Stark’s eyes, Vision was still just a program, a living program instead of a living being!
