Mephisto was thinking of attacking Dio head-on and plunged his black sword into the sea of Hellfire. The black sword immediately absorbed all the Hellfire instantly, and a series of runes glowed red on the black sword’s body! All of it was demonic runes, different than the runes that Odin used for his power, with each of these demonic runes capable of unleashing a series of demonic spells!
So, without waiting any longer, Mephisto activated the runes, and it instantly teleported Mephisto behind Dio, and he immediately swung the black sword, aiming for Dio’s head! It was the first effect of the demonic runes, teleportation! But not only that, but it seemed that Mephisto’s speed was also doubled due to the Demonic Runes’ power!
Unfortunately for Mephisto, Dio came prepared! He already used his Hamon Technique in advance after observing Mephisto and predicted his next move, allowing him to be one step ahead of Mephisto! Dio parried the black sword with ease, but as he parried the black sword, Hellfire erupted from the sword, trying to engulf Dio and burn him alive.
But things wouldn’t go that smooth for Mephisto as Galaxy immediately teleported herself out of danger, bringing Dio out of the Hellfire’s embrace as well! Dio patted Galaxy’s mane twice as a sign of gratitude before ordering Galaxy to turn around and started attacking Mephisto with his own series of attacks! The Power Gem on the scythe glowed brightly, and it easily erased the Hellfire out of existence before the scythe collided with the black sword once again!
Even if the black sword was capable of withstanding the attack from the scythe, Mephisto couldn’t withstand the pressure without taking any damage! It was an undeniable fact as Mephisto always vomited blood each time the scythe collided with the black sword!
Dio smirked as he knew this would happen. Each infinity gem had its own ‘attitude,’ one might say. If the Time Gem could be depicted as an obedient child, the Power Gem was a wild child that couldn’t be contained easily! It was useless to control how much force the Power Gem let out as the user would be extremely disappointed that he has failed miserably on doing that!
“I have to end it now!” Dio said to himself as he summoned [The Hand], a card he had saved up this entire time! He attacked Mephisto with the scythe, and as Mephisto blocked the attack again, Dio raised his right hand before slamming it down mid-air. At first, the Hellfire that constantly erupted from the black sword and the black sword itself instantly vanished before Mephisto himself also lost a portion of his body!
Dio retracted the scythe, but the broken black sword on Mephisto’s hand didn’t stop thrusting, aiming at Dio’s heart! Mephisto wasn’t dead from [The Hand]’s previous strike as he was the Hell Lord. He wouldn’t be killed that easily! As long as his body remained, he would be able to regenerate later! But, Dio waved down his hands one more, attacking Mephisto with [The Hand]’s power once more!
This time, Dio cut off Mephisto’s arm that was holding the black sword. Mephisto was overly confident in his ability to defend against Dio’s weapon, that he failed to notice that it was different this time! He failed to realise that at his current weakened state, he wouldn’t be able to win against Dio! But now it was too late! He has lost his ability to defend against Dio’s power as his swords clanking against the ground.
“What will you use to block my attack now that you have lost your extraordinary sword?” Dio asked sarcastically before swinging the scythe towards Mephisto’s body and detonating all of the scythe’s stored energy inside Mephisto’s body! As a result of this attack, Mephisto was blown into million pieces!
“Now die!” Dio said coldly. As he swung the scythe once more, using the Power Gem’s energy to end Mephisto once and for all! Everyone on the battlefield stopped moving and stared at Dio as he unleashed his final attack because it was something that no one has expected before! Steve and the other heroes looked at Dio in awe, while the demons on the battlefield were terrified beyond belief! They knew that in order to conquer the Earth, they needed a strong leader, and that leader was Mephisto! If they lost Mephisto now, their effort so far would be in vain!
“Do you have any last words?” Dio said coldly at Mephisto’s head on the ground.
Even when he was already at death’s door, Mephisto didn’t show any fear and even laughed at Dio. “I am the great Lord of Hell, Mephisto! Even if you destroy me right now, you already lost the moment the Serpentine Gate was opened! This war is far from over! Hahaha!” Mephisto said as he laughed hysterically despite the light in his eyes got dimmer.
Mephisto was cautious and a great strategist, so he already devised several escape plans for himself! Even with Dio using the Power Gem and [The Hand], he couldn’t really kill Mephisto as the Mephisto that he was fighting all this time was still just a clone!
But this clone of Mephisto was unique as it held a piece of his soul in it! So, even if the clone were killed, Mephisto would still be alive in Hell, but he would also took significant damage for as a piece of his soul was also destroyed along with it!
When Dio realised that he was only fighting a clone, he wondered if he should rush towards Hell now and eliminated Mephisto himself as he knew that Mephisto would be weakened tremendously by now. But he also considered the factor that he didn’t know Hell that well, and even if he had the Power Gem in his hand, there was no guarantee that he’d be able to win against Mephisto in Hell!
So, with a disappointed sigh, Dio gave up the temptation to raid Hell and put away the [Reaper’s Gaze] as he didn’t have any use for it anymore!
