Tony opened his visor and glared at Steve silently, “Tell me, did you know about it?” Tony said while gritting his teeth, preparing for the worse answer he would hear.
Natasha also came and looked at Dio with a helpless look on her face. Apparently, she also saw the video.
At the same time, Steve avoided Tony’s eyes and nodded, confessing that he already knew about it!
As Tony got the answer he wanted, he felt deeply disappointed and turned his gaze towards Dio, “How about you? did you know about this too?”
Dio fell silent for a moment as he was trying to think of what he was going to say. He already knew about a lot of things since the beginning, so it was hard to say something that would not upset Tony any more than he already was.
“I didn’t know what you are talking about, but this is all the enemy’s ploy to split us up!” Dio said confidently.
“Are you telling me that all this was a conspiracy? That the video was tampered? You are joking!” Tony said coldly.
“Tony, calm down, maybe we can talk about it,” Natasha said as she sensed that Tony was starting to lose it.
But before she could reach Tony, he already rushed over to Steve and punched him right in the face, before rushing towards Bucky with an intent to kill!
Bucky wasn’t some amateur either. He already knew why Tony was furious, so he was already prepared for a confrontation to some extent.
Before Tony could reach him, Bucky immediately shot out the energy gun in his hands towards Tony, blasting him back several meters.
But before Tony was too far apart from Bucky, he already shot his own energy blast from his palm, hitting Bucky’s energy gun and blasting it out of Bucky’s reach.
“Are you really going to stand there and let them fight to the death?” Natasha shouted at Dio frustratedly.
She already knew that she couldn’t stop Tony and the others, but she knew that Dio could easily do so!
“So, are you suggesting that I should get hit by their attack? What did you think I am supposed to do here?” Dio said with a frown on his face.
Dio already knew that nothing he did would matter as Steve was the only one who could help Tony and Bucky. If he restrained Tony here, Tony would resent Dio for a lifetime!
After all, Tony didn’t completely lose his ability to reason. He was just clouded with intense hatred towards Bucky, who killed his parent.
Natasha looked at Tony and the others before she sighed, clearly at a loss as well. She saw that no one had the intention to back down and kept fighting, but clearly, Tony was at a disadvantage here!
“Bucky, you need to get out of here!” Steve shouted as he tried to stop Tony by himself.
Bucky nodded and tried to get away from Tony.
“That wasn’t the real him, Tony! It was HYDRA who controlled him. The same thing happened in Berlin! Bucky and your parents were both a victim of HYDRA!” Steve argued as he tried to reason with Tony.
“Just step aside, Steve! He killed my parents!”
“Your revenge against him wouldn’t change anything!”
“I don’t care. He killed my parents!” Tony said stubbornly.
Steve felt helpless, but all he could do now was to buy enough time to let Bucky escape before Tony broke free out of his grip.
At the same time, Dio’s communication device rang.
“Sir! A large number of fighter jets and fleets are approaching! Please give your order!”
Dio frowned as he realised that the UN hasn’t give up on capturing the Avengers, “Prepare for battle and check the ship thoroughly. I believe that some sort of signal transmitter was in there somewhere.” Dio said casually.
“Yes, sir, right away!”
As Dio hung up, Natasha approached him, “You already knew about the tracking device?” Natasha asked curiously.
“A hunch, that’s all. How can you guys find this place otherwise? It’s just simple reasoning that Tony would definitely do something like that!” Dio said annoyedly.
“Well, after I retire, can I come live with you?” Natasha said out of nowhere.
“Why, I don’t think a farm life will suit you,” Dio said with a smirk on his face.
“Well, you will never know before you try,” Natasha said with a big smile on her face.
“Are you serious right now?” Dio said as he looked at Natasha weirdly.
“Who knows, I am full of surprise, you know,” Natasha said with a grin on her face.
Dio was surely bewildered, Natasha was worried about Tony just a moment ago, and now, she was proposing to live with Dio after her retirement.
Dio was convinced that Natasha was truly frightening. He would never know what was on her mind, ever!
“Let’s go! We have to take a look at what the three of them are doing now!” Natasha said suddenly.
“Ah, yeah, sure!” Dio said as he followed Natasha towards where the three were still duking it out.
There, Dio saw that Bucky was lying on the floor, completely battered, while his metal arm was removed from his body.
At the same time, Tony was pinned under Steve, while Steve was trying to destroy Tony’s arc reactor with his shield!
At this point, Tony, who completely lost his fighting spirit, has failed his revenge!
Tony’s face was filled with sadness and anger as he knew that he couldn’t do anything to exact revenge against his parent’s murderer!
“That shield isn’t yours! It was made by my father; You don’t deserve it!” Tony said out of anger.
Steve immediately dropped the shield after damaging Tony’s reactor. He knew that on this day, he regained an old friend while losing the other!
After looking at Tony’s miserable state, Steve helped Bucky back on his feet and left the base to escape the incoming UN troops. After Steve left, Dio walked towards Tony to check on his condition.
“I didn’t expect that it would come to this,” Dio said honestly.
“You already knew about all this, didn’t you?” Tony said angrily.
“You know, it doesn’t matter what I already know at this point. I couldn’t change the past anyway. I am also sorry that I couldn’t help you in this situation. It really wasn’t my call, and I really don’t like the option you two gave me. But, I will not stop what you are going to do!” Dio said honestly as he knew that there was no point to lie at this point.
Tony fell silent and leaned to the nearest wall as he started to wonder about something.
“Take this, you know how to use it, and it can also heal you up now. But I really hope that we won’t be enemies the next time we see each other!” Dio said as he put a little snail in Tony’s palm before he turned away and left Tony alone.
The fight between Tony and Steve was temporarily over, but this was just the beginning of a larger scale battle to come.
“Are you done talking some sense to him?” Natasha said as she waited for Dio.
“It doesn’t matter what I said to him. It depends on what he truly thinks about all of us.” Dio said honestly. He then kept walking, making his way out of the base.
“You should be careful. This place should be surrounded by those soldiers already!” Natasha said with a smile on her face.
“Aren’t you coming with me?” Dio said confusedly.
He remembered Natasha chose to join the other side after the fight according to the original plot.
“Do you need me that much? But I don’t think that there is any place for me besides you. I’d rather help that poor guy over there, letting him know that he wasn’t completely alone, you know.” Natasha said while looking back at Tony.
“Well, I still could use a farmer girl or two by my side if you want it,” Dio said with a smile on his face.
“Well, let’s talk about it when I retire!” Natasha said as she walked away from Dio and helped Tony.
Dio just smiled and shook his head before pulling out his scythe, ready to make his way out of this place!
