Without her consent, Zareth had become tied to Silva, his words controlled her mind entirely, and she couldn’t stand against him anymore.
Silva watched as she backed down, no longer trying to attack him. He smiled in response to that and spoke.
“You finally understand what’s at stake,” he said. Then he turned his focus back to the place. He didn’t understand why Ophelia would throw one of her strongest races into a place like this.
It wasn’t making any sense. Sure, they were demons and loved war, but to seal them in an unlivable place like this was simply bad.
He shook the thoughts out of his mind and spoke to Zareth. “Lead the way, let’s find your leaders.”
“Hell is not a simple prison; it’s a world of its own, much like the realm of the vampires. The leaders of Hell, the generals, are all in different locations. I served under General Abedon, the great war general.
Before we were sealed, he led the majority of battles against the celestials. He was the General of Wrath,” Zareth said.
“So are we heading to Abedon first?” Silva asked.
“No, we will be heading to the General of Greed, Orion. Abedon is the right-hand man of the Demon Lord, and he stays close to the Demon Lord.
The closest to us is Orion. His region is where we all used to pass and make it to the gates to head to the world again,” Zareth said.
“So you mean more and more demons are passing through there and heading toward us now?” Silva asked.
“Most likely, that is the case. We lived in batches, understanding what had happened in Argon and knowing if all was good, and then I sent a report to allow the next batch to come.
But a few hours ago, I sent a message that all was clear and they didn’t need my clearance anymore. The batches should just keep coming, and that’s what they have been doing.”
“So they are on an automatic march now,” Silva said. “Then you will have to watch a thousand more of your fellow demons die.
Take it as penance or something for what you already did, or something—I don’t know, whatever makes you feel happy,” Silva said.
“If you are really that strong now, shouldn’t there be other ways to handle this? Why must you kill more and more demons?” she asked.
“To prove a point and to drive that point into all minds—I am in control now,” Silva said.
“Reforming this world just like that would only be a temporary fix. I don’t know how long I will be here; it might be far shorter than I imagined. And if that’s the case, I don’t want to leave without fixing things.
And if that means I have to be remembered as a threat and a danger to those that want to destroy what I will build, then so be it.
And if the demons decide that they will not listen to me and will do what they want, then so be it—I’ll wipe them off the map entirely.
So now do you understand what I am saying? Do you get what it means now? I am no longer looking at one life as important, but rather, I am trying to build a better world for those that I love,” Silva said.
“So what you are doing is not for a better world for everyone? It’s just for those you love?” she asked.
“That is the primary reason, but not the only reason. I want it to stop—I want all of it to stop. The people who have lost their homes and loved ones due to the war, their numbers over the years have surpassed millions and billions.
And all that started because of the war that you started—you and the angels—a scuffle for power, wanting to be greater than the other. Because of that, you threw other races into an eternal enmity that would cost lives every day, every month, of every year.
It might not be something you all did now, but your past actions have caught up to you,” Silva said.
She had nothing to say back after that; she just stared at him blankly.
“Alright, now we’re headed to Greed. Let’s start going,” he said. She didn’t respond but started walking in the direction.
Silva followed behind, walking at a steady pace.
“Why can’t we just fly there? I also noticed none of the demons I killed here were flying,” he spoke.
“That’s because of Greed. The closer you get to his palace, the more restricted you become. As the general’s title implies, his power circles around his greed.
He is consumed with greed, so much so that he took away the freedom to fly and kept it all to himself. All land and air under his jurisdiction are bound by him and his power,” Zareth explained.
“So what if I fly? What happens?” Silva asked.
“Greed would not allow someone to take what he has taken. If you fly, he will see it as you taking what belongs to him, and he will come for you,” she said.
“Huh? So I can speed-summon Greed here? Why didn’t you say so?” Silva said. He shot up into the air immediately, without regard for what she said.
He felt a strong pulling force dragging him down, but he easily broke it and flew higher. He stayed in the air for a while, waiting for what would happen. After a few minutes, he sensed a presence headed their way so fast that it was literally ripping through space.
“Zareth, you might want to hide for this one. Your general seems genuinely pissed off,” Silva said in a joking tone, but she took it seriously and ran to one of the red rocks, hiding behind it.
The presence finally arrived. Space rippled and shook violently as he came to a stop. The force of the stop blew away rocks and creatures alike.
“Now that’s an entrance,” Silva said.
