“Refine the Battle Element Pill?” Ling Yichen frowned slightly. “That pill’s medicinal properties are too strong. Although they can temporarily increase one’s cultivation, the price to pay is too heavy.”
Ling Chuxi nodded. “I know. I was wondering whether I could improve on its medicinal properties.”
If the side effects of the Battle Element Pill were not so intense, it was indeed a heaven-defying pill. Swallowing it when fighting enemies could definitely tilt the odds in one’s favour. If it could be improved, then, how much more of a heaven-defying pill would it be?
“Is that possible?” asked Ling Yichen, frowning slightly.
“Let’s just give it a try. If we don’t try, how would we know?” replied Ling Chuxi.
Ling Yichen nodded. “True, you have a point there. Then, let’s depart tomorrow.”
Xia Zhuoyi suddenly popped out from the corner. “Where are the both of you going?”
“We’re going to the White Stone Canyon. You should definitely come too,” said Ling Chuxi, looking at Xia Zhuoyi. “Your basic skills are not bad, and it’ll also be good to improve your cultivation.”
Xia Zhuoyi’s basic skills were indeed not bad. But because he had burdens in his heart from constantly worrying about his mother’s eyes, he had not put his entire concentration on cultivation. So, the results he gained had always only been about half of the effort he put in. Now that the matter of Xia Rulin’s eyes were solved, his mind was also a lot more at ease, and this was a very good thing for his cultivation.

Thinking about this, Ling Chuxi asked, “Zhuoyi, what happened to the monster beast’s egg I gave you the last time? Has it not hatched?”
“Ah? Yeah.” Xia Zhuoyi took out the blood red Blood Wolf’s egg from his embrace with a frown. “If it wasn’t for the fact that I occasionally hear soft sounds from inside, I would have thought that it was dead. I don’t know why it has yet to hatch.”
Ling Yichen interrupted expressionlessly, “Try putting it on your stomach every night.”
“Huh? That would make the egg hatch? Are you serious?” asked Xia Zhuoyi in surprise.
Ling Yichen remained expressionless. “No.”
The corner of Xia Zhuoyi’s lips started twitching. How lame. Ling Yichen’s expressionless, serious face making a lame joke really left one feeling cold.
“You should try putting it under your armpits,” said Ling Chuxi whilst suppressing her laughter.
Xia Zhuoyi felt like his head was swelling. “Come on, Chuxi. Not you too!”
“I am being serious. You have yet to hatch the egg, so perhaps it is because there isn’t enough warmth. A human’s armpit has a higher temperature and should be able to hatch the egg,” explained Ling Chuxi.
“Oh, so that’s the case. Alright then!”
Xia Zhuoyi thought about it, then touched his armpit and stomach. Indeed, his armpit felt warmer. Then, he carefully put the monster beast’s egg under his armpit.
Ling Yichen shot out another sharp remark, “I hope your armpit doesn’t stink. Otherwise, the Blood Wolf will bite you when it hatches.”
The shock from his words caused Xia Zhuoyi to use a little too much strength to squeeze the monster beast’s egg under his armit, almost smashing it accidentally. “Yichen! You’ve learned bad things from Chuxi! Why didn’t you learn any of her good traits but learnt her venomous tongue!” he howled.
Ling Chuxi also could not hold back her laughter. Why did she never realize that Ling Yichen had quite a sense of humor?
