Sometime after leaving the school, Xu Feng began making his way to a store that sold cars while finishing a text that would be sent after 2 days to certain people.
Once that was done, he began pondering which car to get.
'My budget isn't too high, and I still have to use my money on so many other things.' He sighed softly.
Although he preferred to be frugal and avoid overly expensive purchases, he knew that an expensive car was necessary to earn respect. If he didn't want to be disrespected, he needed to buy a car that matched his status.
However, reliability and comfort were still his highest priority. A car similar to Ning Yi was one of his objectives when choosing one.
Who cares if the car is expensive?
If the interior was not comfortable or filled with problems, then that was not a good car, but a trash car.
Just as he was waiting for the red light to turn green, a car suddenly zoomed out of nowhere and stopped just a few meters from him.
Xu Feng remained stoic and calm, barely reacting to the sudden commotion, his expression unchanged and composed. Others might be shocked or frightened by it, but not him.
If the car had intended to crash or kill him, then it would have done so already.
As he calmly waited for the person in the car to give a response, the window rolled down a bit, and a voice echoed.
"Get in."
"And who might you be?"
"Zhao Kai's eldest sister."
"Oh, Zhao Kai's sister?" A bit intrigued, Xu Feng didn't expect to meet Zhao Xin in such a manner.
"How am I supposed to know you're really his sister when I can't even see your face?" He asked, using his pointy finger and tapping lightly on the brief window that was opened.
A moment of silence occurred as the window slowly rolled down dramatically.
"Happy now?" Zhao Xin held an unamused expression as she questioned him.
Nodding his head, Xu Feng smiled in satisfaction.
"Ah, so it's indeed Zhao Kai's sister, Zhao Xin. Phew, you really can't trust anyone these days by their voice alone. AI has gotten quite frightening and can mimic anyone's voice." Xu Feng responded, entering the car and making himself comfortable.
"Anyway, how did you know I was here?" he asked, seemingly surprised by her appearance.
However, based on the clues so far, along with the known information, he could subtly guess why she was here.
Given Zhao Kai's personality, it was hard to imagine him arriving at his grandfather's birthday party grandly. So even if she tried to convince or persuade the latter, it most likely wouldn't work.
Therefore, she must have come all the way here to find him to make him do the convincing.
After all, he was the closest with Zhao Kai other than her.
"Let's not act ignorant," Zhao Xin coolly said. "You should know my little brother's personality well, so I want you to make sure he is dressed nicely at the party."
Amused, Xu Feng pointed at himself and asked, "And why do you think I would do that?"
"Because he mentioned you would go with him to the party. And with your savings, I doubt you have any nice clothes either."
"He mentioned that I would go with him? When was that?"
"When I told him about the party, he said he would have you join him."
'Damn, so I was actually the one fooled.' Xu Feng was stunned briefly. He had initially thought it was he who had fooled Zhao Kai by subtly inviting himself personally, but that wasn't the case.
Zhao Kai had planned all along to bring him alone, so whatever he did was pointless— a waste of effort to be precise.
As Xu Feng realized he was the one being played, Zhao Xin took the chance to inspect his clothes, astonished by the former.
'A luxury suit huh. This Xu Feng really went all out.' She thought to herself, having believed Xu Feng blew his savings to buy the suit.
Seated comfortably in the back, Zhao Xin leaned forward slightly, her gaze unwavering and voice firm. "If you assist me in making my little brother dress appropriately, then I don't mind reimbursing you for the suit. Also, I know you don't have a car, so I'll send you one as a favor."
Intrigued, Xu Feng slowly adjusted his glasses, crossed his legs, and smiled, "What type of car are you planning to send me? It's not going to be a second-hand or a rusted one, right?"
"How impudent of you, Xu Feng! You should watch your tone of speech when talking to Miss Xin." A voice echoed from the front, and without even needing them to turn toward him, Xu Feng could tell who it was.
"Anna Liu, as usual, you seemed to dislike me." Xu Feng teased.
"I don't dislike people. I just dislike those who don't work hard and try to leech." Anna Liu rebuked.
"That's enough, Anna!" Zhao Xin suddenly intervened, her gaze locked on to her.
When Anna Liu saw those gazes, she knew she had overstepped her boundaries slightly.
Thus, she kept quiet, nodded her head, and focused on the front.
"Ignore her, Xu Feng. She's just like that toward those supposed bootlickers and leechers." Zhao Xin explained frankly.
'Wow, the two of you should get an acting award.' Xu Feng was exasperated silently by the mini-show these two had displayed.
Although it seemed like Anna Liu was reprimanded on the surface, Zhao Xin merely told him to ignore her but never denied her statement.
Added to the fact of her explanation, it was quite obvious that she was using Anna Liu as a third party to condemn him for being useless.
It was just a pity for them that Xu Feng was no longer that naive and dense fellow.
With a calm expression, he clapped his hands. "Indeed, bootlickers and leechers are hateful, but it takes skill to know which target to latch on. Just take Anna for example. Only a fool would latch onto her, expecting some good things in return."
