"Extend your right arm out fully with a balled up fist. Bring your left hand towards your chin. Now alternate these two motions back and forth. As you get used to it, gradually speed up your motions. This is a basic punch in hand to hand combat!" Instructor Mills started with the very basics of combat. He did not care how much they all learned prior to coming under his tutelage. He started them off with the utmost basics because this was the best way to ensure that all of his students were on the same playing field. He did not want to leave anyone behind.
Although his mouth was rough and the way he came across was able to anger people to death. He did care about his job and the students under him. As for others, he could care less. Dean William had especially asked him to train this one class. He did not know why this was the case. Dean William only told him that there were two outstanding talents in the class that needed to be trained properly. Since that was the case, Instructor Mills decided to take this class extra seriously and work them all to build a firm foundation with the basics.
At this time, Kana was currently throwing her fist out one after the other, slowly speeding up her pace with a smile on her face. This was the kind of training she had been hoping for. Starting from the basics and working her way up. She wanted to learn whatever she could. Even this simple punch with the explanation she got from Instructor Mills was beneficial for her. Next to Kana, Kiliffia was also smiling away as sweat dripped from her brow. This was not due to her being tired but due to her working out in the heat. After such a long run and also throwing punches, the heat was starting to get to her. But even so, she was smiling away as she worked diligently, throwing punch after punch.
The group continued training this simple punch for almost an hour before Instructor Mills called for them to stop. "Good! Very good! We only have an hour left for this class. So let's take a ten minute break, then we will do some one on one training. Each one of you will face off against me. I will only use the punch you just learned today. You can come at me with everything you got."
Instructor Mills was not doing this to show off his strength but to get a good grasp on everyone's combat ability. It was the best way of knowing just how much everyone knew and what their weaknesses were. Then once the basic training was over, he would test them again to see just how much they have improved, and from there, he could then make personalized training regimens for each person. It was because of Instructor Mills' way of training that Dean William appointed him as Kana's class instructor. The same went for both Mr. Lambert and Ms. Wakevly. It was because they were the best of the best in each of their fields. Of course, Kana's specialty class was no different. Dean William had brought in the kingdom's best forger to train her specialty class and only her class. The students who were lucky enough to be allotted to her class were benefiting greatly due to the special treatment Kana was receiving.
After their break, Kana and the rest of her class began going up one by one and sparring with Instructor Mills. Instructor Mills kept his word and only used a simple punch while attacking. Not a single student could touch him as of yet. "It's my turn! Unlike the instructor who did our test, Instructor Mills seems much more powerful. I think I will need to go all out right from the start."
"Just be careful. From what I can see, his movement technique is a bit strange. I can not put my finger on why but from what I have seen so far, he has been easily taking three steps in the same motion and barely moving from his original position. At the same time, he is dodging everyone's attacks with ease." Kana may not know fighting techniques, but now that her intelligence was so high, she was able to pinpoint certain things. This was all because her comprehension of things had grown by a huge amount.
"Mmm… I plan to be extra careful." Kiliffia did not want to end up as she did last time, being knocked out with a single attack. She wanted to strive to become stronger.
"Good Luck!" Kana sent Kiliffia off with a smile. She hoped her friend could do well.
Kiliffia walked onto the battle stage with a look of determination in her eyes. This did not go unnoticed by Instructor Mills. He gave a nod before saying: "Don't be nervous and do your best."
"Then here I come... [Fox Art: Trickster]!" Instantly Kiliffia turned into an array of leaves and shot towards Instructor Mills. Instructor Mills was very surprised at Kiliffia's talent. Unfortunately for Kiliffia, Instructor Mills had fought many from the fox race, so this small trick was nothing to him. He easily sidestepped each of Kiliffia's attacks with a three step motion. It seemed as if he was like a ghost with how he could easily avoid the attacks as if they were nothing. Even with how fast Kiliffia was going, she still could not land a hit which was beginning to aggravate her. But she knew she needed to keep a calm heart and not let herself get upset, or she would end up as she did before.
With a wave of her hand, Kiliffia split her leaves up and began to encircle Instructor Mills, attacking from all directions. "Good! Very good! Haha, such talent at such a young age."
Instructor Mills was very impressed even higher level foxes did not have such control over their fox arts. Instructor Mills was so caught up in Kiliffia's moves that he let his guard down for a split second which was just enough time for Kiliffia to take advantage of. She moved in as fast as she could, wielded her sword, and struck out. Instructor Mills felt the small killing intent coming from his side and quickly tried to dodge. Although he managed to not get hurt, his clothes were not so lucky. The shirt he was wearing now had a big slice in it. But instead of getting angry, Instructor Mills let out a loud laugh as he yelled out: "Haha! Stop! "
---An: Today's release is early because I forgot I had a bunch of privileged chapters still to write and did not realize that the start time would be in the next few hours for the next month's chapters. I will need to write 22 chapters between today and tomorrow, so the chapters for tomorrow may be slightly late. I do apologize. I will make an announcement chapter if I am delayed more.
