Saintess Selene stared at Kent as if she had seen a ghost. He had indeed died before, but the stare today wasn’t at a ghost.
Well, that wasn’t the main focus here anyway. The 24-string Weaving Strike was one of the top sword skills in the Divine Palace Sect. After all, it was an Earth-grade skill.
While that might mean nothing to Kent, an Earth-grade skill in this world was a big deal. The highest grade of skills and techniques in this world was just at the Legendary grade.
Earth-grade skills were therefore incredibly valuable. Of course, because of their rarity, they were also difficult to master. Even in the Divine Palace Sect, only a handful of disciples could wield its full form, and it took them months, if not years, to master it.
However, compared to such disciples, Kent was still lacking. He lacked both a cultivation base and experience. Yet, such a person had now learned an Earth-grade skill within a few seconds, making it appear so effortless as if he were just reading a book.
“What… If you don’t believe me, let’s go outside, and I’ll show you,” Kent said, standing up.
“Let’s do that,” Saintess Selene replied, still in disbelief.
“You know, Master, it would be best if you truly believed in your disciple. Although it may sound rude, I can tell you this…” Kent turned and looked at her. “You are lucky to have me as your disciple because I am going to make you proud.”
Soon, they were outside. Kent stood a few meters away from a tree, his back facing Saintess Selene. The 24-string Weaving Strike was a rather crazy sword skill. It used sword aura to create—or more accurately, weave—24 razor-sharp strings that cut upon contact.
Of course, its effectiveness depended on the strength of the user’s sword aura and their mastery of the skill. Kent had already mastered it, meaning he could fully wield all 24 strings.
In the Divine Palace Sect, only a select few managed to achieve such a feat. It was, after all, a highly complex skill.
“Master, watch closely,” Kent said, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. His sword qi surged, and with a swift draw, he unsheathed his blade, now coated in shimmering sword qi.
The swing was executed in a single, fluid motion, so fast that before anyone could fully register it, the sword was already back in its sheath. The tree standing before Kent was sliced in 24 precise directions.
Every cut was remarkably clean.
Saintess Selene, standing a few meters away from Kent, stared at the fallen tree with a shocked expression. The tree, now reduced to neatly sliced segments, was a clear testament to the power and his mastery of the sword strike.
Kent had indeed mastered the skill.
“What do you think, Master? Are you proud yet?” Kent asked, stepping closer to her, now only a step apart. Her wide eyes and stunned expression showed her disbelief.
His question snapped her back to reality. Their eyes met the proximity between them charged with intensity. Kent smiled, looking pleased with himself.
Inwardly, however, he was captivated. ‘She’s gorgeous,’ he thought to himself.
“Ahem…”
“…”
“Well done,” she finally managed to speak, taking a few steps back to regain her composure.
Kent chuckled and stepped back as well. “You know, Master, this skill isn’t bad. You wouldn’t mind if I kept it, would you?” he asked.
Though inexperienced in the customs of this world, he knew enough to understand that sword techniques couldn’t be claimed casually.
They had to be purchased, gifted, or obtained through special means. If a skill already had an owner, one needed explicit permission to use it.
Learning it without asking for the owner’s permission is a plain disrespect that many would literally kill for.
“Okay,”
Saintess Selene replied absentmindedly, still grappling with what she had just witnessed.
While she recognized Kent’s extraordinary talent, she assumed he had been practicing the sword for several years. What she didn’t know, however, was that Kent had only arrived in her world a few days ago.
Unlike others who started cultivating at 16, Kent hadn’t followed the same path. Naturally, she assumed he had at least two years of experience. But seeing this performance, she began to realize he might have been telling the truth all along.
If that were the case, then it meant Kent had only recently picked up the sword.
But how could that be possible? One couldn’t develop sword qi and sword intent within mere days of starting. It defied all logic.
While she had been hailed as a sword genius from the moment she first picked up a blade, even she had taken five whole days to master the skill of using 16 strings. Back then, her feat was celebrated as extraordinary, and she was considered one of a kind.
However, witnessing Kent’s shocking performance, doubt began to creep into her mind. Her confidence wavered, and Kent noticed it immediately.
He had broken the woman. Her thoughts were clearly in disarray as she struggled to make sense of what she had just witnessed.
[Master, I think you broke her], the Tower quipped, making Kent smile.
<I guess she’s never seen someone like me before. Not that I expected much from this world. After all, I’m from the God Realm, and my body is crafted from godly material. Mortals can’t compare to me,> Kent thought smugly as he stepped toward her.
“Master, let’s go inside. You haven’t even begun to see what I’m truly capable of. We can’t have you this shocked for long—it’s not good for your health,” he said, gently taking her hand.
In her dazed state, she barely registered what was happening and allowed him to lead her back into the mansion. Inside, Kent sat down and watched her intently, waiting patiently as she wrestled with her thoughts for a full hour.
Finally, she seemed to snap out of it. Turning to Kent, she said, “I have to go somewhere for the next few days. I’ll be back in five.”
Without waiting for a response, she stood up, her expression unreadable, and left the room. Moments later, she was outside Alderford Mansion, taking to the skies and flying off into the distance.
Kent watched her leave with a smile on his face. Once she was gone, Kent used the connection between himself and Unity to tell her to come see him.
Strangely, Unity said she was away from the mansion. Of course, she was lying. Kent, however, didn’t know that, so he left and went back to the new apartment made for him and his master. It was more like a mini-mansion.
He immediately went to sleep. However, before he could catch some Z’s, a knock landed on his door.
He opened it only to see Lilian staring at him with a blush on her face.
“Oh, you couldn’t wait, huh?” Kent smiled at her, making her blush deepen. She wanted to run off, but before she could move, Kent wrapped his arm around her waist and planted a kiss on her lips.
Lilian immediately melted in his arms, responding to the kiss almost instantly. Kent just smiled in his head, knowing that whatever Unity had told her, this innocent-looking princess of the Alderford Merchant family wanted to experience it too.
Then again, who was he to reject such a humble offer? He closed the door behind them, and soon, they were on the bed.
A long night awaited them.
