Back in the god realm, Vexthra, who hadn’t left the room since Kent jumped into the portal, was sitting with her fists clenched.
Right now, she was waiting for Kent or her sisters to reach out and inform her of the outcome of the attack. Of course, she never expected Kent to contact her since he only had a few seconds left to talk to her, so she was waiting for Unity or Lilian.
It had been almost three hours since Kent left.
“Big sister, can you hear me?” Suddenly, Unity’s voice entered her head, making her smile cutely.
She may be a goddess, but she was powerless when manipulating events in the mortal realm. In fact, she shouldn’t have been able to talk to Kent and her sisters like that.
However, thanks to the tower, she could do it quite easily.
“Unity, is everything alright on your end?” Vexthra asked, like the caring big sister she was.
“Yes, big sister. We are okay,” Unity replied.
“Good. It’s great that nothing happened to you two. What about Kent? Is he okay too?” Vexthra asked.
“Yes. He just finished taking care of his master, who was hurt during the battle, but she’s fine now,” Unity replied again.
Kent had already informed her that the Saintess was well, so she could tell Vexthra. With only 30 seconds left, he wouldn’t waste time on things like this.
“Can you tell me what happened?” Vexthra asked.
Unity went ahead and narrated everything. Kent had already told her to share everything while he went to talk to Cynthia. He knew Vexthra would be worried, so since she had unlimited time with her sisters, they could manage to a certain extent.
“Wait, what happened to his carriage driver? Is he dead?” Vexthra asked.
“No. Kent saved him. He used some weird way to save him,” Unity replied.
“What weird way?” Vexthra asked.
Unity, of course, didn’t immediately reply. She pondered for a moment and then asked Kent.
‘Go ahead, tell her everything,’ Kent gave her the go-ahead. Vexthra wouldn’t betray him. She was the one who saved him and brought him this joy he missed out on for 32 years.
Kent trusted her, though, just as he liked his women, so he wasn’t worried.
Unity proceeded to tell her everything. She narrated how Kent had used a token to turn Uncle Drew into a Night Rider.
“Wait, did you just say a Night Rider? Are you sure?” Vexthra asked.
“Yes. From what I heard, Kent referred to him as Kael Duskbane, the captain of the Night Riders,” Unity said. “Do you know who that is?” she asked.
“I only know of the stories. Although I am a goddess, I am not a Celestial God, so I don’t know everything. But I will ask around and learn more. For now, make sure you keep a close eye on things for me.
Kent might be strong, but he needs you guys. At the first sign of danger, let me know,” Vexthra said before cutting the connection.
She immediately dressed and took an artefact from her soul space.
“Mother, I am coming to visit you. Please grant me passage,” Vexthra said before channelling her divine energy into the artefact.
A few seconds later, she vanished.
Somewhere far from the god realm, she appeared in front of a temple that seemed to have aged beyond its limit. However, if one paid close attention, one would realize the temple was made of bones mutating into vines.
It looked both elegant and dangerous.
Vexthra sighed and walked in.
“It’s been how long? 1.4 million years since I last saw you, daughter,” immediately upon Vexthra entering the temple, an otherworldly beauty that seemed to surpass Vexthra in all aspects spoke with a loving smile.
She was seated on a bone-like throne, her hair cascading all over. In fact, her hair was so much that it couldn’t be contained in the throne, spilling down onto the jade ground.
“It was you who never wanted to see me, mother. I tried coming multiple times,” Vexthra said with a small smile.
The lady looked at her and chuckled. “Hmm. To think a mere mortal was able to knock you up. If your fellow gods learn of this, you will become a laughing stock.” The lady’s sweet laughter filled the temple.
“I don’t care. He is my man, and I won’t change anything about what has happened. I love him, and he loves me. That is all I wanted, even without knowing it.” Vexthra blushed slightly.
Indeed, if the gods found out, she would become a laughingstock. However, it would undoubtedly make some gods very jealous.
While Vexthra may not be the most beautiful goddess in the Gold Realm, she is undoubtedly one of the most powerful.
A god who wields the power of Hatred and Resentment is undoubtedly one of the most powerful gods. So, getting claimed by a mere mortal was something they would indeed laugh about.
Some, too, would be jealous. After all, both gods and goddesses had tried to court her at one point in time, but she never budged.
“I wish your sister were here to witness,” the lady said with a slight sigh.
“Don’t worry, mother. My sister will one day come to us. We just have to wait for the right time,” Vexthra said, looking at her mother, who held a sad expression.
Looking closely at her eyes, one can see she wields two sets of eyes.
Although both eyes are ocean blue, the left one seems to contain all the negative emotions in the universe.
Hatred, Resentment, jealousy, envy… All the negative emotions are buried deep in that eye. In fact, looking closely would be enough to tell one she has all those emotions in her.
The right eye, however, contains all the positive emotions. Love, happiness, joy… all the positive emotions are buried in there.
“Why are you here, daughter?” the lady asked.
“I need a copy of the Book of Stories and Legends,” Vexthra said, looking directly at the left eye when she spoke. She seemed to be speaking to the left eye.
“You would have to be specific about what you want, daughter. You know, after this, you can’t claim anything again, and asking for the entire book is not possible. So be specific,” the lady said, making Vexthra nod.
“I want the pages in the Book of Stories and Legends that detail the Epic Saga of the Riders of The Night. I want every last page,” Vexthra made her wish.
“Very well,” the lady said, waving her hand. A few seconds later, a stack of pages appeared in her hand, and she gestured for Vexthra to come for it.
“Remember, daughter, the tales of the forgotten are not meant to be disturbed. Once you seek them, they will never leave you. Beware, for the past can return when least expected.”
“I will heed your wise words, mother,” Vexthra bowed slightly before walking away. Soon, she was back in her realm, where she placed the pages down and started preparing to dive into them later.
Inside the temple, the lady sighed after Vexthra was gone.
“You have made a wise decision, daughter, but are you ready for the sacrifice?”
