While Feng Zheng's squad and Nara Kori's squad clashed, other teams had not yet made contact with any other teams.
Some teams chose to hide, while others went hunting. They often tracked each other for most of the day before the first engagement occurred.

He grinned and said.
"Then let's just kill this team!"
They moved quickly. Feng Zheng said.
"These guys don't seem to have a Sensor Ninja; they might just die from a surprise attack."
Hodaka frowned and quickly said.
"Let's not ambush them! I want to fight them head-on!"
Feng Zheng raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Why not ambush? It's foolish not to ambush when you have the chance."
Mieko said.
"I also want to fight them head-on, so it's 2-on-1."
Hodaka chuckled and said.
"Yeah, we'll fight them head-on."
Feng Zheng sighed, thinking to himself.
"These kids... no wonder they didn't set a record. Even assuming they're as strong as us, they might just be messing around instead of trying to pass quickly."
Seeing Feng Zheng's sigh of defeat, both of them laughed.
