The two walked through the masses of people, heading into the area with all the attractions. The place was surprisingly filled with students even though it wasnât the weekend. People were perhaps too stressed and decided to have some fun to relieve some of that tension or they were simply too bothered with the lavish lifestyle to care about studying or hard work.
Either way, the amusement park wasnât empty by any means. Arthur kept staring around him curiously. He had been to such a place only once before in his life and that was when he was a kid.
âGrandma brought me there for my birthday. It was a really good memory.â He thought to himself. It was one of the few things he still remembers clearly and cherishes deeply. After all, back then, things were much simpler and more fun in a sense.
However, that was it, times moved and now the person who created that memory for him was long gone. It was truly tragic in a bittersweet way.
That was when Arthur noticed something that snapped him out of his daze. Blinking quickly, he looked all around him as if he were searching for something.
âIs everything ok, Arthur?â Isla noticed his weird behavior rather quickly.
âThere⊠There⊠And even those⊠Wait, am I hallucinating or is everyone around us a couple?!â He asked himself. This detail, as weird as it was, was indeed true. All Arthur could see around him were girls and boys going around in pairs of two, all being very mushy and intimate with each other.
Then, he realized what kind of atmosphere the entire amusement park had. It was a mix of fun, excitement, andâŠ
âRomanceâŠâ He muttered under his breath. âHow did these people quickly start dating? We have been on this island for less than two weeks. The human race is truly impressive.â
âWhat did you say?â Find more to read at empire
â⊠Ehem, itâs nothing. Anyway, what game should we start with?â Arthur asked.
âYou can choose,â Isla replied.
âReally? Youâre the one who paid, you know?â
âAnd youâre the one who will take care of the rest.â She retorted.
â⊠Hm, ok, I wonât say no then.â Arthur shrugged and looked around him. There was a plethora of attractions around them. Many of them looked immensely dangerous and very thrilling.
âHahaha, time to go a little wild!â

With that, Arthur and Isla moved to their first attraction which was the roller coaster. It was by far the biggest attraction in the entire place. Going all around in gigantic circles. Arthur could hear the screams of the students as they moved through the trail at enormous speed.
âDamn, that looks fun! Letâs go! Oh wait, are you ok with this kind of game?â Arthur asked.
âI do not mind,â Isla replied.
The line of students waiting was surprisingly not that long. Perhaps not many were courageous enough to try such a ridiculous attraction with how insane it looked.
Quickly, their turn arrived and they got on the roller coaster. The worker strapped them to the chairs tightly and made sure everything was working perfectly fine. After that, he turned on the machine, and the ride began.
At first, the speed was slow but it quickly picked up pace as the started rising up into the air. The students were already shaking and screaming as they went higher and higher.
âHmm, this is nice,â Arthur muttered as he looked to the side. Isla looked very calm as if she didnât care what was about to happen.
Eventually, the ride reached the peak, almost 100 meters in the air, and stopped. The students clenched their fists as they got ready for the descent.
â*Gulp* This is bad⊠Weâre too highâŠâ
âAAAH! I donât want to be here! Why did you get us on this ride?!! Iâm breaking up with you!!â
Arthur could hear the students cry for their lives as he tried to hold back his laughter. After all, they werenât really ready for what was about to happen.
A few seconds of waiting later, they started moving again, nudging further and further, getting closer to the edge. ThenâŠ
*Swish*
The descent was so fast that people couldnât even react in time. But, when they did, their screams started echoing in the sky.
âWOAAAH!!â
Arthurâs grin widened as he watched the world spin and turn at a fast rate. He felt the wind hitting his face and the erratic movement of the roller coaster. However, apart from some thrill, he wasnât scared at all.
âHm, I guess I have been through way more ridiculous situations for this to even feel remotely terrifying.â He thought to himself. Looking to the side, Isla seemed to be the same. She didnât even bother to say anything.
The ride continued, going around and around, changing directions suddenly every time. Some students were already losing their minds by that time, unable to handle the situation.
âDid these people really play DO? How are you this scared of this? Tsk tsk.â
A few minutes later, the ride finally arrived at the station again with a completely different group of students. Their faces looked completely pale and their hair was a mess. Slowly, they descended from the ride in silence, some visibly shaking.
âI donât want to come here ever againâŠâ
âI canât stand on my legsâŠâ
âI thought I was about to die.â
As they all tried to compose themselves and calm down, they saw two people pass beside them.
âThat was fun. Though, I wouldâve wished it was a little faster with more circles.â Arthur said.
âIt was alright.â Isla shrugged. âThey couldâve made it better for sure.â
âYeah, exactly! Oh well, it wasnât too bad.â
As they watched the pair leave, their eyes widened in shock. While they were struggling to even breathe, those two seemed completely unbothered by the ride.
âHuh? Who are those two?â
â⊠Beat me, they must be maniacs.â
As the two left the roller coaster, they headed toward the next game and then the one after that. They jumped from one thrilling attraction to another. In reality, Arthur was just leading Isla around, trying everything he deemed interesting.
Almost all the games they tried werenât that mind-blowing as neither felt a sense of danger or excitement more than normal.
Even the arcade games and crane games.
*BANG* *BANG*
âH-Holy shitâŠâ
âS-Sheâs destroying the machineâŠâ
âI could barely hit one squirrelâŠâ freeweÉnovel.cm
As other students were passing by, they noticed Isla wrecking the squirrel machine with the hammer. Her reaction speed was simply monstrous to the point where the machine, which was considerably harder than the normal machine found outside the island, couldnât keep up.
âNEW RECORD!â
The machine voice yelled when Isla hit the last squirrel. Then, it finally stopped before it spouted out a ton of tickets.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the aisle.
âBOOM! Get rekt! Haha!â Arthur was playing a fighting game.
âGoddamit! I lost!â
âItâs me next! Let me try!â
Around him was a huge group of students, all trying to play against him. However, it had been almost 20 minutes and Arthur had defeated around 15 people without losing once.
âHow is he this goodâŠâ
âI couldnât even last 30 secondsâŠâ
âIs he some kind of professional?â
Hearing the compliments all around him, Arthur grinned. âI have been playing arcade games my entire life. We had a small arcade center near my old house so I used to go there whenever I could. With my reaction speed now, you lot have no chance.â Arthur cracked his neck as he finally turned around and said.
âIâm sorry, thatâs it for today. I have some other stuff to do.â
âWhat?â
âWhy?!â
âOne more round! Just one more round please!â
The students closed all escape paths as they swarmed Arthur. They were eager to try their luck at beating him.
âHey! Stop it! No! Iâm not going to play anymore! I have to go! Let me pass!â
Struggling through the masses, he was able to escape somehow. Then, he looked up.
âAre you done?â Isla asked as she carried two large bags of tickets toward him.
â⊠Yeah, they were really stubborn and didnât let me go. It seems you have gathered a good number of tickets. We can get a gift with all of that!â
A//N: Donât forget to give the book some golden tickets for good luck! :3
