Chapter 598: Chapter 598: Crossing Over
Li Yao instantly stepped into the shadow, but he immediately noticed a hazy deep blue glow on him, making it impossible for him to fully submerge into the shadow.
“Damn! How does this small tribe have this kind of thing?”
Without hesitation, Li Yao took flight with a flash, zooming towards the city outskirts like a bolt of lightning.
Escape by stealth was out of the question. If he was caught hesitating and trapped by the ogres, he’d be done for.
Although he didn’t care much about experience, losing a level wasn’t a big deal to him. But dropping an important piece of equipment would be a real pain.
The ogres won’t wait for him to respawn before snatching up his loot.
“Found that little bug, send a signal to catch her.”
When Li Yao took flight, it caught the attention of the ogres. The ogres began running wildly on the ground towards him.
The flight duration of his wings wasn’t long and it wouldn’t be enough to carry Li Yao out of the city.
Li Yao dodged a thrown stone with a flash, disappearing just as his wings lost their effectiveness.
He activated Magic Spider Silk directly, pinning it onto a building and started to jump from one building to another.
But even with Li Yao’s superhuman spiritual power, he barely managed to escape certain death several times.
A quarter of an hour later, perspiration began to bead on Li Yao’s forehead, he felt like he was in a sea of stones.
In this area, the Ogres only had magicians and warriors. Despite this, their ability to throw things and the Imps’ Shadow Bolts made his skull feel like it was splitting.
He even couldn’t stay on top of a building to hide for a moment. Otherwise, once the building was surrounded, breaking through would be extremely difficult.
He had to find a less populated building to run towards. If he was able to run in a straight line, he would have already been out of the city, provided he wasn’t shot down, to begin with.
In front of them was a crude city wall, once over it, there was a chance for survival. The Ogres on top of the wall were already prepared for him.
Light flashed in Li Yao’s eyes as he blew a whistle.
With Li Yao’s whistle, the giant Spider Tank landed on the city wall, causing it to tremble violently.
The Spider Tank threw out several explosive barrels causing a massive explosion around it. The Ogres were blown into the air, followed by the stomping of the Spider Tank. The surrounding Ogres were sent flying off the city walls.
“Damn, it still wasn’t strong enough.” Li Yao’s initial plan was to use the landing force, explosives, and trample of the Spider Tank to blow off a section of the wall. Only then would he be able to escape through the gap.
Though the Ogre buildings were quite tall, they were still a far cry from the wall height, and the last building was quite far from the wall.
With Li Yao’s agility, jumping across the distance wasn’t a problem. But, he needed a kickoff point to be able to overjump and there’s no suitable point underneath.
He had a clear comprehension of his own agility, the wings were cooling down, and the Magic Spider Silk could be useful but below him were all Ogres. If he gets lifted up he wouldn’t be able to dodge any incoming stone.
The massive force of the stones wouldn’t instantly kill him, but it was enough to knock him off course. Even if he managed to not be knocked off, the delay would give the other Ogres on the city wall enough time to react. Once he reached the wall, he would be met with certain death.
“I need to take off twice.” Li Yao had already calculated the number of kick-offs required to smoothly fly over the wall.
However, Li Yao never had any intentions of stopping. The attacking stones whizzed by him, leaving no room for him to pause.
Li Yao reached edge of the building, made a quick dodge to evade an incoming stone to his head, then took a leaping dive.
Boom…
The main cannon of the Spider Tank boomed, firing a shell towards the ground at a steep angle.
“Now!”
The glow in Li Yao’s eyes flared brightly. His left foot stomped down hard at the ground.
Boom…
Li Yao’s foot perfectly landed on the shell that sped faster than lightning. The shell detonated into a huge ball of fire.
A powerful shockwave spread out, shattering the incoming stones. At the same time, Li Yao was blown into the sky by the resulting shockwave.
Following the shrill cry of the Fire Eagle, it finally swooped down.
When Li Yao was blasted into the air, he used Shadow Roll to reorient himself and then landed on the Fire Eagle. At this moment, his body was already higher than the city wall.
With the aid of the Fire Eagle, his body shot towards the city wall.

The Ogres on the wall roared, and with stones ready in hand, they waited for Li Yao’s silhouette to take aim before launching their stones at his presumed landing spot. It wasn’t difficult to predict where he was going to land.
For a moment, the sound of several large stones piercing through the air echoed from both sides of the wall.
“So you want to keep me here.” Li Yao performed another Shadow Roll, changing his direction and landing back against the city wall.
Then Li Yao performed a backflip immediately. Originally, he intended to land on the city wall but he reversed over it and flew straight out of the city.
The place that he was supposed to land now had countless cracks from the bombardment of stones.
When Li Yao landed, he used Shadow Roll to disperse the impact. By now, he was hundreds of meters away from the wall.
The Fire Eagle returned to the sky. Although it lost a substantial amount of HP, it wasn’t killed.
Li Yao casually stowed the Spider Tank away in his Pet Space. He waved at the Ogres on the city wall and went straight into the forest ahead, utterly dismissing the raging roars and curses from the Ogres.
Once out of the city’s territory, Li Yao found that he could enter the shadows again. If he could stealth, then all would be fine.
Even though these Ogres had high perception, there was still quite a distance from the city wall to this place. By the time they reached the forest, Li Yao would be long gone.
Even though some Ogre Sorcerers could summon Hellhounds, he was already far away.
Li Yao hid in a large tree, panting heavily. After a long time, he had finally recovered. It was too mentally exhausting to find a blood-strewn path amongst the stone rain.
He observed the city while perched on the tree, and saw the Ogres leaving the city.
“This array exists, it’s really a problem. This is going to be tough now.” Li Yao was in a bad mood, not because he was worried about being pursued by these Ogres.
His original plan was simple. In the span of three days, he alone would complete the task of two people, find a hiding spot for his things, and disrupt the Ogres’ altar to slow them down.
Then, once the exact location of Dark Touch got exposed, he would save the captive. Afterwards, he could plan his next steps regarding Dark Touch.
But now, because of this array formation, he couldn’t move at night. Night was not as convenient as day.
“Nightmare God really went all out this time. Damn! I need to get rid of these pursuers first.” Li Yao saw that Ogres summoned Hellhounds indeed and were dashing towards this direction.
Li Yao didn’t hesitate anymore and prepared to find a place to hide before planning his next move.
