He hadnât been avoiding him. He had tried looking for him on the first day after meeting with Nymira, but no matter what he did, he couldnât find him.
However, after that, Silas quickly found himself busy.
He had a lot of things to do. His training with the Judgement faction continued the same way it was going before the whole Greed thing happened, while his classes with Life, despite being a little awkward, continued as normal.
The only real thing that was different about his schedule was the fact that he had to meet with Eclipse every day to talk about the status of the city.
Darkless was now under the kingdomâs watchful eyes.
Every now and then, Silas could spot a few scouts running around, however, even though he would have loved to kill them to stop them from getting information about the city, it was harder than it seemed.
First of all, they were all pretty powerful. Not for him of course, but in general, they were in the platinum rank, usually around platinum 2 and 3.
None of them went higher than platinum.
Of course, Silas wouldnât have had much of a problem killing them all within the span of a day, however, Archie and Eclipse were both against the idea since it had the possibility of provoking war with the kingdom, something none of them wanted.
âHey! Are you listening!? I thought we were friends, bro!â Alex shouted, yet Silas only raised a brow as he continued walking.
After a few seconds of silence, Silas could tell that Alex wanted to say something, so to shut him up for a while, he spoke instead.
âFirst of all, Iâm not your friend yet, let alone your âbroâ.â Silas rolled his eyes.
âAGH!â Alex fell onto his knees while grasping his heart. At the same time, he leaned back with his other hand on his forehead.
âMy heart! You crushed my heart!â Alex shouted, garnering even more attention from the people around.
âHeâs lucky I need him around.â Silas looked back with a sigh before continuing on his way.
Alex, of course, followed him. Silas tried to explain to him that what he was about to do was private, yet when speaking with Alex, it was as if his words would enter through one ear and leave through the other.
For Silas, it was a little frustrating, but it was nothing he hadnât had to deal with before.
âHey, man⊠Listen.â Alexâs voice suddenly dropped to a much more serious tone.
Silas raised a brow for the umpteenth time today while several questions ran through his mind
âCome close.â Alex waved for Silas to come closer, yet when didnât respond, Alex decided to pull him.
After looking around for a couple of moments, Alex suddenly leaned in and whispered.
âWherever youâre taking me, I promise you, bro, I wonât tell anyone.â
âSure?â
âHey, man. I donât judge. Iâve seen a lot of weird crap ever since coming to this city. Whatever youâre into, I will look the other way.â Alex let out a cheeky grin before giving Silas a thumbs-up.
âS-SureâŠâ Silasâ brow twitched in slight annoyance.
âThis bastard! What do I look like to him!? A human trafficker!â
They continued to walk in silence, and at a certain point, Silas was trying his best to contain himself.
He would keep thinking âHeâs lucky I need him.â over and over again in his mind, yet every time Silas looked at Alex, the boy would wink at him as if they were somehow on the same frequency as one anotherâŠ
âOoh! Dark alley. I wonder what happens in a place like this!â Alex rubbed his hands mischievously while giggling to himself in a low tone, and this time, it wasnât only Silas that was giving him the stare of disgust and pity.
âBrother look! Do you think he hit his head when he was a child too?â A girl, no older than nine, asked in a whispered voice while pointing at Alex.
âWho the fuck speaks like that.â Silasâ eye twitched again.
After what felt like an eternity, Silas finally found himself in front of a door.
âHey, bro!â
âWhat?â Silas replied with a slightly annoyed tone.
âYou never really told me about what happened while all of us were asleep.â
âBrainwashed.â
âYeah, that. Whatever that word means.â Alex gave a short thumbs up before continuing.
âI was half awake during the time the whole thing happened. I could see what was happening, but I couldnât control what I was doing.â Alex explained, yet Silas didnât react.
âYou know⊠Greed is a little mentally unstable, and Iâm quite strong for my age so thatâs probably why she chose me.â Silas shrugged, but a thought came into his mind.
âWas Nymira affected by the brainwashing too?â
âYeah, but then you slashed at her with your axe and almost killed her, which means you had control over your body, right?â
ââŠYes.â Silas sighed.
âSo you had to be strong enough-â
Not wanting to answer any more of Alexâs questions, Silas quickly knocked on the door in front of him before letting out an irritated sigh.
At the same time, Alex narrowed his eyes slightly before harrumphing and looking away while cursing Silas under his breath for avoiding the question.
The sound of footsteps echoed from the other before the sound of several locks being undone entered their ears.
With a low click, the door slowly creaked open as a pink-haired girl appeared in view.
She still had bags under her eyes like last time, but her house didnât reekâŠ
âNO NOSE! WHO SULLIED MY NOSE!â
Or at least not to the same extent.
âHey, Nymira.â Silas smiled and walked inside while Alex switched to breathing out of his mouth before following behind Silas.
âTime to clean out some bodies.â
