Victor, Ashara, and Helena were studying in the library, but an uneasy silence hung between them. Each of them was lost in their own thoughts.

Ashara shook her head, “No, I haven’t seen—” She stopped mid-sentence, her gaze snapping to Victor. Her expression tightened as if she knew something, her eyes narrowing suspiciously. ‘You did something, didn’t you?’ her face seemed to accuse, though she said nothing aloud.
Victor caught her look and, with an air of practised indifference, motioned with his finger for her to look away.
Ashara flinched slightly at his subtle command, then quickly added, “No!” Her voice came out sharper than intended as if to dismiss her own suspicions.
Helena frowned slightly but turned to Victor anyway. “And you? Have you seen him?”
Victor shrugged lazily, barely looking up from his book, “Who knows? Maybe he decided to head back to his empire and finally enjoy life instead of constantly babysitting you.”
Helena blinked, then tilted her head in thought. “Hmm, maybe you’re right. He did finish his exams, so it wouldn’t be too surprising…”
Ashara, however, continued to steal wary glances at Victor while pretending to read. Her behaviour didn’t go unnoticed, but Victor chose to ignore her completely, sighing quietly as he focused back on his research.

Victor had already left without a word, leaving the two girls alone.
Helena shifted nervously in her seat before leaning closer to Ashara and whispering, “A-Ashara… I need your help with something.”
“My help? With what?”

“You could say that,” he replied vaguely.
Helena froze, her heart sinking as jealousy bloomed in her chest. ‘Aqualina?! Of course, it had to be her. Ugh! I can’t stand this!’
Clenching her fists, she scolded herself internally. ‘Get it together, Helena. He’s helping you, and all you’re doing is sulking like a child. You need to find a way to repay him!’
She glanced at him again, noticing how close they were. Her heart skipped a beat as her cheeks flushed, but she quickly turned back to her notes, focusing hard to keep her thoughts at bay.
