“Why are you so concerned about my relationship with Lila when she clearly doesn’t want to have anything to do with you?” William asked.
David responded, “Relationships take time to build. I believe she’ll come to see me differently, especially if you stay away from her.”
William felt an urge to lash out. He had already stated that he and Lila weren’t close. He even messaged Lila to ask, and she also felt that they weren’t close. If they weren’t close to begin with, why talk about staying away or not?
William said, “I’ve been reading a lot of books lately.”
Confused by the sudden change in topic, David asked, “And?”
