If Frank used video game logic…
"Wisdom could probably mean more magic power, right?"
Usually magicians in video games have a Wisdom or Intelligence Stat after all.
Also, it was usually well known that Wizards became better magicians by accumulating Wisdom through their lives.
"Courage… Probably has to do with physical attacks, with fighting… With heading courageously towards a battle, right? Or is it a bit of a stretch?"
He couldn't quite tell, but that's the vibe something like "The Path of Courage" gave to him.
"And lastly… Humility?"
It could be between Healing or Protecting others.
This meant that the Angelic Spear Knight Class had three branches!
A branch that specialized in Wisdom, magic and the like.
Another branch of Courage, for full physical combat.
And lastly, the path of Humility, perhaps specializing in healing and protecting himself and allies.
"What do I need?"
Now the hard part was choosing which path he should take.
Deep down he quickly wanted to choose Wisdom, more Magic Power, more Mana, never hurt anybody, right?
If his magic could become even stronger and become a magician-type Angelic Knight, it would be all for the better.
After all, his previous classes were all magician-type.
"Hmm…"
However, there was also Courage, more physical strength was nice, but against overwhelming odds against him, it wasn't going to do shit.
But then…
Memories of what he went through against Medea appeared inside of his mind, what he had to go through when he tried to protect his friends and also…
Wrath.
His heart had changed forever, now infected by a strange power not even he could properly understand.
This Wrathful Heart Transformation turned him into a monster that could even go against beings like Medea, but it also slowly killed him, devouring his soul and lifeforce.
The Path of Courage would probably worsen whatever symptoms he could get from Wrath, so he decided to scratch it altogether.
But Wisdom…
Was Wisdom the Path he truly wanted?
After what he saw his friends go through, after how far he pushed himself to help them…
And also after how damaged he was, with no way to heal himself as Gift of Life didn't work that well on himself, due to this power requiring his own Lifeforce to be infused into someone else…
Perhaps there was another Path for him, one that wasn't about fighting, or magic at all…
"…"
He looked behind him, as Frank walked towards that door.
He looked at it again.
[Path of Humility]
He pushed the door with his hands, as he saw the stars that composed it glowing and swirling rapidly.
FLASH!
And as he opened that door, blinding light engulfed him completely.
And then, he found himself back in his house.
"Huh?"
He was inside his room.
Through the window, he could see the sunlight slowly entering his room.
"I'm back? What? Was that it?"
He walked around his room, realizing he couldn't see any system notification, he couldn't call Ruby nor Onyx either.
"This is…"
He ran out of the door, noticing there was a creeping silence in his house.
"…"
He walked towards his parent's room, finding it empty.
Then in his sister's room, it was empty too.
"Is this part of the trial?"
As he walked downstairs, suddenly.
Something hit him.
A smell that only brought a traumatic dream back inside of his head.
"Blood…?"
He ran downstairs, realizing what was happening.
"A-Ah…"
The living room was covered by blood, as the dismembered bodies of his parents were splattered over the floor.
Their faces looked filled with fear.
They were dead.
"A-Ah…! N-No…! No this again- Ugh…!?"
This time it wasn't a dream, Frank couldn't keep up with all of this, as he started vomiting on the floor, feeling so utterly horrified and disgusted, he didn't know what to do.
"Cough, cough…! Ugh…! Haaah…! W-Why?! Why do I have to see this again?!
As he screamed while crying, looking at the blood over the floor, he heard some footsteps.
"Eh?"
He looked towards the corridor leading to the kitchen, someone was walking there, no, two people.
"B-Bro… brother!"
"Shut up."
"Ugh?!"
"K-Ka… ka… kamei?!"
Frank gasped, his sister wasn't dead, she was alive, right there.
But she wasn't alone, of course.
A creepy-looking, tall, white-haired man was by her side, wearing a black cloak covering most of his body.
His skin was as pale as snow, and his eyes were black and red, creepy, without light.
His smile, reaching from ear to ear, was also terrifying to look at.
"B-Bastard…! You…!"
Frank slowly tried to stand up, but he couldn't, he felt he had no strength in his legs anymore.
"Ugh…!"
He tripped over the floor, looking pathetic.
"It seems the sleeping prince woke up. Do you like your breakfast, Frank~?"
"Y-YOU BASTARD…!"
Frank knew who this bastard was!
Even though he had never seen him before in real life.
He knew about him, just like he somehow knew that he was the son of an Overseer.
This monster that was in front of him.
This unhinged psychopath.
This aberrant shadow lurking within the back of his head, this trauma…
This reminder of his weakness…
"WASP!"
The man's eyes widened lightly, the knife he was carrying, covered with the blood of Frank's parents, slowly pointed at Kamei's neck.
"How do you know my name? I have never met you before, Frank… This doesn't make sense…"
"G-Get that knife away from her!"
"B-Brother…!"
Kamei started crying, the knife touching her delicate-looking neck.
"Let her go…!"
"Oh? You're so worried for her, it truly moves my heart."
"I'm going to fucking kill you!"
Frank stood up, running towards Wasp.
And yet, his knife moved towards Kamei's neck, as a bit of blood started to come out.
A tiny, little wound, which was non-threatening.
But if he went only an inch deeper, she would die.
"Stop right there, young man. Another step, and you won't have any more family members! Hahaha!"
"A-Ah…! W-What... what do you want from me?!"
"I want everything from you."
