Chapter 210 - Making A Deal
What surprised Lin Yi the most, however, was the look on Yushu’s face when she saw the damage- it wasn’t anger, nor was it pain… it was excitement! Her eyes were flaring up with excitement, as if it were something worth celebrating!
She made it sound like it was a big deal now, but Lin Yi could tell otherwise from her eyes. She wasn’t angry about the car at all.
Could it be that she had some sort of objective to accomplish here? Mengyao kept trying to drag her into the villa, too, and Lin Yi felt that the two girls were hiding something from him.
“What do you want me to do? You’re not gonna ask for my body, are you..” Lin Yi said innocently as he looked at Yushu.
“Uhh….” Yushu’s voice trailed off at what Lin Yi said- she was worried enough over the whole confession thing, and now the guy was talking about offering his body… she couldn’t help but blush at that.
It was then when Mengyao’s phone rang- she pulled it out and saw her father’s number on it. She didn’t want to be distracted at a critical moment like this, but it was a phone call she had to take.
“Hello? Daddy?”
“Yao Yao, I’m in a meeting right now- did you get the food from Zhang?” Pengzhan asked.
“We did- he just left.” Mengyao said, hoping to end the phone call as soon as possible so she could get back to Yushu.
Yushu, on the other hand, used that instance to whisper to Lin Yi. “Shield Bro, you put on a show with me after dinner and I’ll forget about this whole thing! Got it?!”
“Wha-” Lin Yi was about to ask for details when Yushu interrupted him with a loud voice.
“Shield Bro!! You messed my car up, so you have to promise me one thing!! I don’t know what yet, but I’ll tell you when I think of one!!” Yushu yelled, worried that Lin Yi’s questioning might attract Mengyao’s attention.
Yushu covering her whisper up by yelling gave him a pretty good idea of what was going on- she was probably hiding something from Mengyao. Lin Yi could very well reject what she was asking, since Chu Mengyao was his first priority… Yushu was using the damaged car as leverage, however, and he could only nod in agreement.
“Shu, don’t be so loud!” Mengyao said, a slight frown on her forehead as she tried to hear her father’s voice.
“Yao Yao, you’re talking with Shu aren’t you? Alright then, it’s nothing. I’m coming back tomorrow, see you then.” Pengzhan said, hanging the phone up.
“Oh, okay… Bye daddy.” Mengyao put her phone away, her eyes still locked on Yushu. “Shu, what on earth are you planning?”
“Nothing…” Yushu stuck a tongue out at Mengyao. “I’m just getting Lin Yi to make up for the car, but I don’t know what yet, so I made him promise to do one thing I say! Shield Bro, you didn’t say if you agree yet.”
“Alright.” Lin Yi said, aware that what Yushu was saying now was an act.
“Then it’s a deal!” Yushu nodded, a smile on her face as she looked Lin Yi in the eyes before turning back to Mengyao. “Yao Yao, I’ve come to an agreement with Shield Bro about the car! Let’s go eat. Ooh, braised swordfish, my favourite! La la la……”
With that Yushu snatched the food from Lin Yi and ran into the villa.
Mengyao looked at Yushu curiously- what was up with her? Could she have told Lin Yi about the bet? It didn’t seem like it… She had made sure to keep an eye on her all the while, and she didn’t have much of a chance to say anything… She turned to Lin Yi. “What’s up with Shu?”
“How would I know?” Lin Yi shrugged. “I’d have thought she got hurt in the head if I didn’t see her boobs getting hurt earlier.”
“Don’t say that!!” Mengyao said, glaring at Lin Yi. “Don’t talk about Shu like that.”
“......” Lin Yi only smiled faintly- the girl was still standing up for Yushu after getting tricked.
The two of them made their way back to the dining table only to see everything laid out on the table already. Yushu had even prepared three bowls filled with rice for them, humming and in a good mood after she’d sorted everything out…
Yushu’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed by Mengyao, but she didn’t say anything. She sat down in her usual seat before looking at Lin Yi, who was just standing there. She pointed to the other side of the table. “You come eat too. Just eat with us from now on, it’d save us the trouble of taking your portion out……”
“Ah… Okay.” Lin Yi’s place in the family had risen- he remembered eating only leftovers at the start, then his own portion was taken out beforehand… It seemed like Mengyao was gradually accepting him as a member of the family already.
Yushu, on the other hand, didn’t seem to think much of it. She wasn’t a bossy Miss or anything, and was quite easy-going, despite her tendencies for trouble…
“The braised swordfish is really good, Yao Yao- you wanna try some?” Yushu gave Mengyao a piece after trying one herself.
“Why’re you so active today, Shu? You aren’t usually like this?” Mengyao couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“Well, Yao Yao… You know…… Soon I’ll be taking that big step in life… I’m just excited……” Yushu said.
“........” Mengyao wasn’t sure what to say to that. Big step? Did she think it was a real confession?? Mengyao couldn’t help but feel unhappy with how serious Yushu was treating the whole thing… it was just a joke……
Lin Yi only focused on his food- he wasn’t a talkative person in the first place, after all, and the girls were talking about a topic he couldn’t just butt into.
Both Mengyao and Yushu were acting weird today, and there was that show Yushu asked him to put on with her… Everything was just weird.
Mengyao, on the other hand, cheered up as she pictured the face Yushu would make as she confessed. Lin Yi’s stunned face would be quite priceless, too…
It was time for Yushu to embarrass herself! This girl had caused her so much trouble these couple years, and she’d never gotten her back for all those times- she simply couldn’t do it to Yushu. She was the big sister, after all.
There was that one time, for instance, when Yushu told Zhong Pinliang that Mengyao wanted to eat fried squid… when she herself wanted it! The guy just ran out and brought back a couple fried squid skewers, much to Yushu’s delight…
There was that time where she wanted to listen to fireworks, too, telling Pinliang that it was Mengyao who wanted it… The guy fell for it again.
She couldn’t help but get annoyed at Pinliang’s IQ- couldn’t the guy learn a lesson?
