Following Lin Su’s plan to divide the battlefield, the two guardian beasts smoothly passed the second floor, and Qiuqiu’s Frost Silence Storm finally broke through to rank III after absorbing the Dream Crystal Stone from the second floor.
However, the two confident little guys encountered a Waterloo upon entering the third floor.
Qiuqiu, who had just advanced the Frost Silence Storm to rank III, could only barely contend with the Frost Flower Dream Shadow on the third floor; on the other hand, Gui Gui was still able to maintain a certain advantage in its battle with the Trickster Clown of the third floor.
But the divide-and-conquer strategy, which was effective on the second floor, simply did not work on the third.
In team challenges, with each increase in level, the skills of the simulated opponents within the Beast Taming Tower not only improved but their coordination and synchronization also enhanced. On the third floor, the opposing Frost Flower Dream Shadow and Trickster Clown completely disregarded the divide-and-conquer tactic.
Whenever Qiuqiu tried to fly higher to draw away the Frost Flower Dream Shadow, the creature would turn around without hesitation to threaten Gui Gui, forcing Qiuqiu back down from the sky.
With no other option, the two guardian beasts had to fight together again, and ultimately, due to a lack of perfect coordination, their opponents seized the opportunity. If it wasn’t for Lin Su’s timely decision to give up on the tower challenge, the injuries might have been more severe.
“It’s okay,” Lin Su softly consoled as he stroked the heads of the two little ones and pulled out an energy liquid with healing properties to help them recover, “Your performance was already great. It was just a bit short this time. With a bit more skill proficiency, I believe you can definitely pass the third floor as a team.”
Seeing the two guardian beasts feeling somewhat better, Lin Su smiled, “So, who among you wants to try the third floor alone next?”
The third floor could only be attempted once; if a team challenge failed, only one guardian beast could proceed to challenge, and only one would obtain the third floor Crystal Stone.
So it was up to the two little ones to make a choice.
Realizing this dilemma, Gui Gui and Qiuqiu exchanged glances, and soon Qiuqiu made a decision.

Seeing this scene, Gui Gui was momentarily stunned, then turned to look at Lin Su.

“That’s good to hear.” It was Lin Su’s first encounter with a purely dark environment, and hearing Gui Gui’s remarks reassured him somewhat. Observing the scattered stones everywhere, his mind filled with curiosity.
He was uncertain whether this unique environment was designed specifically for dark type guardian beasts or just for the Trickster Clown.
For a Substitute, these stones were the perfect objects.
As the opposing Trickster Clown appeared, Gui Gui had already submerged into the ubiquitous shadows under Lin Su’s command, using Shadow Concealment.

Like Gui Gui, that Trickster Clown, upon appearing, merged into the shadows immediately, becoming part of it.
What would a fight between two dark type guardian beasts, both possessing Shadow Concealment, look like?
Shadow Concealment, while using shadows as a medium, actually involves slipping into a subspace called Shadow Space—a special skill. Because of this trait, the evolutionary master of tricks, the Trickster Clown, could master the skill known as Trick Pocket, a storage ability.
In a dark environment, the entire ground could be considered as one single shadow.
Entering the same shadow, both Trickster Clowns actually entered the same subspace, thus they were able to see and attack each other.
Shadow Concealment status prevented the use of Substitute, but Flying Knife Skill was still operational.
Thus, unless something unexpected happened, this would be a battle Lin Su could not see.
He could only issue vague instructions via telepathy, allowing Gui Gui to adapt as necessary.
As both sides submerged into the shadows, Lin Su began to constantly sense Gui Gui’s condition through the Guardian Beast Contract, and as time passed, he gradually felt more at ease.
From Gui Gui’s feedback, it seemed to be gaining the upper hand.
