The grand hall fell into awed silence. All the disciples of the martial academy looked at the young man in the black robe wide-eyed, some of them scarcely believing it.

Guan Yang maintained a formal demeanor as well. He was well aware that even his clan’s ancestor had only been a custodian of the sect, never attaining the rank of protectorate.
In the Cloudstride Sect, all protectorates were first-rate Adepts, but not all first-rate Adepts were protectorates.
