I dumped the Merman in front of Emilia and Lisa who looked at the unconscious guy with raised eyebrows.
“So… This is the guy?” Emilia asked.
I nodded, “Yep, he has the Siren Voice magic skill and I believe you know the effects of that skill. He was even trying to use it on me when I was talking to him and attacked me when he realised it had no effect on me.”
“So what do we know about him? Did you interrogate him?”
“Err… I did not… I brought him back here after knocking him out. Should I have?”
Emilia smirked, “Oh no, I would have been upset if you did. This means I get to do it myself~”
She even took out a pair of leather gloves that she slipped on before going to her desk and pulling open one of her drawers.
From within said drawer, she lifted out a case that she then unlocked to reveal a whole array of torture tools from within.
“Heh heh heh… Now let’s have some fun shall we?” She grinned.
I cleared my throat, “Umm… Are you sure this is a good idea? He has the Siren Voice skill so if you were to let him speak, he might start controlling you… My skill only extends to protect me, you know?”
Emilia stared at me for a good minute before slowly lowering the knife and beating stick back onto the table.
“Ahahahaha~ Em really got so caught up in the moment that she forgot about it~” Lisa laughed shamelessly.
Emilia actually growled at her, “Grrrr… Shut up, Lisa. Hurry up and come up with something to protect me from his stupid mind control voice!”
My Infrid shrugged, “If I had anything like that on me, do you think I would get affected in the first place? I don’t have those potions on hand all the time, you know?”
“Hold on a moment… You’re telling me there’s potions that can prevent this?” I interrupted.
Lisa giggled, “Of course there are~ Didn’t I say this before? There’s different kinds of monsters that can be found out in the wild. There’s even monsters that are able to use charm type attacks so it’s vital to bring such potions along when you are going to fight such monsters. Ah~ I guess Aster doesn’t need those because of your skill, though~”

Emilia pretended to gag at the sight before she led the way out of her room, stopping momentarily to call over some guards to help her bring the unconscious Merman to the brig.
On the way there, she also freed Mikhail who was still locked up and told him we had already caught the culprit.
He seemed to be a bit confused but quickly left after Emilia told him to return to his duties.
They then dumped Horose, the Merman, into a cell and tied him up to a chair while Emilia went to set up the Privacy Screen to protect them.
Once she was done, I entered the cell while Lisa and Emilia stayed outside the cell to watch. It seems like while they can see outside of the screen, they would not be able to hear anything. The same was for people outside the screen too.
To talk to them, I would need to stick my head into the dome so that my voice could reach them which I felt was a little gratuitous but whatever… I’ve done weirder stuff before. At least I could still see them so Emilia would be holding up improvised cue cards for what questions I should ask him.
I was a little surprised that she told the guards to leave as well which left us alone with the guy but I figured that Emilia thought the fewer number of people who knew about this assassin the better.
“So… What should I ask first?” I asked preemptively before I would step into the cell.
“Of course I want to know where he kept my money!” Emilia answered immediately.
Lisa then smacked the Nekomata on the back of the head.
She looked a little disgruntled but huffed, “Knowing who sent him would be a start. And we might also want to confirm his goals as well. Maybe he’s after something else?”
Ok… I stepped into the jail cell and stood in front of the unconscious Merman, taking a moment to consider how I would approach this.
I looked around and noticed that an entire table of torture tools was also laid out for me. Do they really expect me to use any of this?
I guess before trying anything, I should just go ahead and wake him up first.
Casting [Aqua Ball] to create a small blob of water, I tossed it at his face expecting the splash of water to wake him up.
Except the only reaction I got from him was a soft groan and nothing else.
