Zoe couldn’t help but feel a flutter in her chest as she glanced at Allen sitting across from her. The atmosphere between them was awkward, with a palpable tension that seemed to linger in the air. She felt as though she was sitting opposite him, yet miles away. Her mind was in a whirl, trying to make sense of the thoughts that were running through it.
She had asked him to meet, hoping for a chance to get to know him better. But now, as she sat here, she realized she knew very little about him. She couldn’t even bring herself to say what was on her mind. How could she possibly open up to him like this? She was afraid to be judged, afraid to reveal too much about herself.
Her gaze wandered to his face, and she couldn’t help but admire his handsome features. She had always been drawn to him, and she didn’t know why. Was it his looks, or something else? She pondered over this as she sipped her drink, hoping to find some answers.
Suddenly, she had an epiphany. Was she attracted to him because of the character he played in the game? The Devil Emperor character that he created, which had captured her attention and imagination? Or was it something else entirely? 𝑜𝘷𝑙.𝘰𝑟𝑔
The thought made her feel foolish, but she couldn’t deny the attraction she felt toward him. It was like a magnet, pulling her towards him. She knew that this feeling was irrational, but she couldn’t help herself.
As she pondered over her thoughts, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness wash over her. This meeting was supposed to be a chance to get closer to him, but it felt like nothing more than a forced conversation. She wished it could be something more, something like a date. But she knew that was just wishful thinking.
Zoe was deep in thought, contemplating her feelings for Allen and the nature of their meeting. She was so lost in her musings that she barely registered the sound of Allen’s cup as he finished his drink. She looked up to see that his cup was now empty, and she realized that he was ready to leave.
“Zoe, you should finish your drink faster,” Allen reminded her, sensing her distraction.
She nodded and quickly drank the remaining hot chocolate. She could feel a sense of disappointment creeping in as she realized that their conversation was coming to an end. Allen seemed to want to return home, and she couldn’t blame him. After all, they had only just met and their conversation had been mostly empty small talk. She was disappointed that they hadn’t connected on a deeper level, but she didn’t want to push him away by being overly clingy or demanding.
As she finished her drink, Zoe couldn’t help but feel a sense of regret. She had hoped that this meeting would be something special, a chance for her and Allen. She wanted to talk to him a little longer, but she knew she couldn’t…
Once Zoe put the empty glass on the table, Allen handed her another tissue.
“Thank you,” she said, taking the tissue and wiping her lips. She could feel her heart rate increase as she anticipated his next words.
As she expected, Allen stood up from his seat, indicating that their short meeting was coming to an end. She couldn’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment. Was this all there was to their conversation?
But just when Zoe thought he was going to say goodbye, he said something else that took her by surprise. “This place is too boring. I know a VR game arcade around here. How about we check it out?” he said with a smile.
Judging from Zoe’s attitude, he could tell that she felt awkward with him. So rather than forcing her to continue the conversation there, he decided to take it elsewhere. An arcade game was the perfect place for Zoe. She liked duel-type games, so he was sure it would break the ice between them.
Zoe was completely taken aback. She sat there, staring at Allen with a dumbfounded expression on her face. Her mind raced with confusion, trying to comprehend the suddenness of his proposal. Had he just asked her to go to a game arcade with him? It was as if she had just woken up from a dream, and everything was completely surreal.
For a moment, Zoe was at a loss for words. She couldn’t believe this was happening. She blinked a few times to make sure she wasn’t imagining things. Finally, she managed to mutter, “Huh?” in a voice that was barely audible.
Allen repeated his question, his eyes fixed on hers. “Would you like to come with me to the game arcade?” he asked, his tone laced with a hint of excitement.
Zoe felt her heart skip a beat. She couldn’t believe that this was happening to her. Was this a date? She couldn’t tell, but she didn’t care. All she knew was that she wanted to go to that game arcade with him, and nothing else mattered.
With a sudden burst of energy, Zoe sprang up from her seat, almost knocking over her cup of hot chocolate in the process. “Yes, sure,” she said, trying to hide her surprise and excitement. Her voice was trembling slightly, betraying her emotions.
Allen grinned in response, holding out his hand to her. “You are single, right? Let’s pretend we are on a date,” he said with a playful tone, trying to lighten the mood.
Zoe stared at his hand for a moment, unsure of what to do. Her heart was pounding furiously, and she felt like she was going to pass out at any moment. But then she took a deep breath, gathering her courage, and reached out to take his hand.
“Okay,” she said, feeling the warmth of his hand.
They left the coffee shop, and the warm glow of the setting sun cast a golden hue over the world. Zoe felt a flutter in her chest as she followed Allen out the door, her hand still clasped in his. She could feel the warmth of his skin through his palm, sending shivers up her arm.
As they walked, she secretly smiled. ‘Well, it seems I do like him after all…’ she thought.
