Pressing another juicy grape against her girlfriend’s tempting lips, she smiled. “Was that Penny on the call just now?”
Emilia hummed playfully as she kissed Crystal’s withdrawing fingertip, only responding to the blushing girl with a smile after the unfortunate grape had turned to nothing inside her. “How clever of you to figure it out… But who could have expected that annoying bug to have the guts to hide there, of all places?”
Thinking about how the Nightingale clan was involved in Alexander’s murder, and was also partially under the control of the Gray Wolfe, Crystal couldn’t help but blink in surprise. “Is that where he’s hiding, really?!”
The crimson-haired girl nodded as she tapped her lips, motioning Crystal to continue feeding her like a spoiled child. “Based on Penny’s words… unless it’s a trap, it should be quite reliable.”
The blonde girl absently indulged her gorgeous girlfriend, but she didn’t really believe Penny to be as ‘reliable’, though that wasn’t because she doubted the girl’s affiliation.
She just didn’t think that the ponytailed girl was particularly bright, even compared to most of her half-crazed fellow knights. And that was saying something.
‘N-Not that all of Emilia’s knights are stupid or anything!’ Crystal hurriedly justified in her heart. ‘They’re just better at carrying out tasks that require… less thought. That’s right.’
As for more ‘delicate’ work, the blonde girl believed it was best left to either Noelle or herself.
Fortunately or not, Emilia was too busy enjoying her pampering to notice Crystal’s thoughts.

Mr. Black knew that things had taken a turn for the worse the moment he realized where the unexpected attack had come from.
He should have known better than to relax his vigilance around his usually rebellious son, especially after everything that happened, but now it was already too late for regret.
The boy’s silence had lulled him into a false illusion of him being obedient, and Mr. Black knew he only had himself to blame for once again believing in his son.
Even after he had doomed his legacy and lowered their status to this level, how could he have had any hopes for his son?
Fortunately, the leader of the Nightingale clan wasn’t very smart, and hadn’t left many ways out for himself either. No matter how he blamed them, he could only take the two of them in.
What Mr. Black failed to realize, however, was that all this time, he had been grossly underestimating his son.
Amos might be foolish and brash at times, but if there was one quality of his that even Emilia found somewhat commendable, it was tenacity.
Even when it made no sense to continue charging forward, the hero never knew when to give up, though that wasn’t always a good thing.
How could he be resigned to giving everything up and just depending on his father while they hid like dirty rats under their enemy’s roof?

Contrary to what Mr. Black would have liked to believe, Amos never regarded their escape from Oriana as something the man did for his sake.
Instead, the silver-haired boy felt a deep hatred from his bones every time he recalled how his moron of a father had sold his company out and run away like a coward at the first sign of trouble.
Now, they had neither money, nor power. Meanwhile, the enemies after his head remained strong as ever. How long were they going to be able to hide and survive like this?
If he continued following his bastard of a father, Amos knew it wouldn’t be for long.
“If only I had gotten rid of him decisively when I could have…” The silver-haired boy gritted his teeth hatefully. “We would never have ended up like this!”
But as much as it soothed the hatred in his heart, Amos knew that cursing at his moronic father wouldn’t do much to solve the problems he had at hand.
That was why he began formulating his plan to escape from the moment they arrived at the Nightingale clan.
Of course, his attack on Gilli was no coincidence.
Although it was true that he felt a burst of rage whenever someone so much as mentioned that little slut Emilia, it wasn’t enough for him to completely lose his mind.
The reason he really ‘lost control’, instead, was because after observing them for a few days, Amos knew that hurting that girl was the fastest way out of that family.
As for any other possible repercussions, he simply couldn’t bring himself to care. In the worst case, what was his moron of a father there for?
Fortunately for him, the hypocritical family they had been staying with moved exactly as he expected, and put them under house arrest. And shortly after, Amos finally found himself out of that haunted place.
Of course, the clan leader’s home was just as suffocating, but Amos didn’t care. After all, unlike those idiots who had nothing better to do, the clan leader wasn’t actually always at home.
Moreover, as much as he despised the man, whether it was because of his father’s lingering prestige or whatever ‘cooperation’ they had reached, the two of them had a relatively high degree of freedom in their new ‘home’.
Although his father spent every waking moment glaring at his every move, the silver-haired boy still found himself smiling after a long time. ‘I don’t think it will be long before things start going awry with the commotion I caused though, right?’
The hero’s hunch proved to be quite accurate, as soon enough, he was being approached by multiple ‘messengers’ through the servants in the clan leader’s mansion.
Naturally, the Nightingale clan was full of deep-minded people, and everyone had their own plans. Given the opportunity, how could they not try to probe this new ‘variable’?
Although they only dared to stuff short notes into his palms and pockets from time to time, it didn’t take long for Amos to make several ‘agreements’.
“It’s time to say goodbye, father.”

Although she could easily have taken the matter into her own hands, in the end, Emilia decided to leave everything directly related to the Nightingale clan to Noelle.
The gray-haired girl sighed. “Emilia… you know I’m not really interested in taking revenge on them. They stopped being my family the moment they gave up on me.”
She was too embarrassed to say that she had already found a new ‘family’ here, but Emilia could already tell that was how she felt.
Grinning, the crimson-haired girl couldn’t help but step forward to embrace the older girl gently. “I know you think this is your family now, but that doesn’t mean people who wronged you in the past should be allowed to get away with it, does it?”
Had the topic not been so close to her heart, Noelle might have rolled her eyes and refuted Emilia for being so childishly vengeful all the time.
Unfortunately, deep down inside, the gray-haired girl knew that she actually didn’t want to ‘forgive and forget’ at all. It was just that she didn’t want to ‘needlessly’ cause trouble for Emilia and Sam.
The crimson-haired girl pushed her back out of the wonderful embrace and frowned. “Stubborn as always! Fine, then, I will go and do it instead?”
Noelle immediately awakened from her melancholic mood and shook her head in denial. “Weren’t you going to focus on—”
To her horror, however, Emilia simply turned up her chin haughtily. “Those things aren’t as important.”
Although her actions were heart-poundingly adorable, the gray-haired girl couldn’t help but feel a headache when she thought about the mess in the international community being left unattended, and quickly came to a decision.
“I’ll go take care of the Nightingale clan.”
Emilia clapped her hands in delight. “Great! I can accompany you if you—”
Noelle sneered as she squeezed the gorgeous girl’s soft cheeks. “No, you stay and take care of your own things! That is, unless you don’t trust me?”
The crimson-haired girl didn’t really mind being bullied by her girlfriend, but she still caved in from her threats with a smile. “Alright.”
Of course, Noelle had no idea that while Emilia agreed to just sit back and let her ever-reliable girlfriend vent her anger, it didn’t mean she would just stop caring about it. If the gray-haired girl was too lenient or soft-hearted, the crimson-haired beauty didn’t mind seeking justice on her behalf later.
