Jiang Hemian found out that Chu Muxi hadn’t died only by the next day’s noon, as he was tidying up the wreckage of the equipment in the research institute.
Qu Yao let out a sigh of relief, “It’s a good thing there’s been no accident; even though a building was destroyed, there were no casualties. That’s already incredibly fortunate within an unfortunate situation.”
“Not dead?” Jiang Hemian furrowed his brows slightly, his eyes gloomy behind his gold-rimmed glasses.
How could that be possible.
If a person is submerged underwater for more than five minutes, it’s very difficult for them to survive.
Just yesterday he had clearly left nearly ten minutes after Chu Muxi had drowned.
He had timed the journey from Building Five to the lab, and he only appeared afterward.
Plus, during the short time he had taken Jiang Nanshu back to Jing University, they were still putting out the fire; there was no way they could have attended to the pond.
Yesterday, when he heard that they had found someone in the pond after half an hour, Jiang Hemian didn’t take it seriously, convinced that even if they were sent to the hospital, they would be declared dead.
He had calculated everything but had never expected that Chu Muxi would actually not be dead!
And now, she was conscious and receiving treatment in the hospital.
Seeing Jiang Hemian in a daze, Qu Yao couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him, “Why do I sense some disappointment in your tone? Jiang Hemian took off his work clothes and placed them on his arm, and when he was leaving, he put the clothes in his own cabinet before driving to Beijing People’s Hospital.
In the hospital, Jiang Jingcheng received news that Jiang Hemian was coming.

The implication was that if you come any later, the person would be discharged after recovery.
But was his own younger brother really that close to Chu Muxi?
Apart from their childhood, after they grew up, they didn’t really cross paths. They were several years older than Chu Muxi, so they didn’t play together.
He dismissed this question from his mind.
Holding the medical record, he walked into Room 301.
Inside, a female nurse was changing the IV drip for Chu Muxi.
Jiang Jingcheng glanced at Chu Muxi’s pale complexion and noted in the medical record, “She’s not in any serious trouble now, just inhaled some water and her asthma hasn’t flared up. Notify her family when she wakes up so that she can be discharged tomorrow.”
The female nurse nodded, “I understand, Doctor Jiang.”
Jiang Jingcheng turned to leave.
From behind came a weak voice, “Second brother.”
He paused mid-step and turned around, puzzled, to look at Chu Muxi who was struggling to sit up.
Her eyes were red-rimmed, and there was a cut on the left side of her face from the glass, revealing flipped skin and looking quite ghastly.
“Second brother… sob, I’m your younger sister.”
Jiang Jingcheng’s brows furrowed tightly, very perplexed at Chu Muxi’s inexplicable address.
His voice was indifferent, “Miss Chu, you’ve mistaken me for someone else. I’m not your second brother, nor do I have a younger sister.”
“It’s not like that… listen to me explain.” Chu Muxi struggled to get up but forgot that she was still on an IV, with the needle connected to her flesh. She cried out in pain with a hiss.
“Rest well,” Jiang Jingcheng didn’t want to get entangled with Chu Muxi.
Now, he wondered if the explosion had damaged her brain.
The female nurse hurried to support Chu Muxi. “Miss Chu, your IV isn’t removed yet.”
Chu Muxi quickly shook her off. Who would want to be the miss of the Chu Family in such decline?
Her face cold, she said, “Back off, I am the miss of the Jiang Family.”
The female nurse: “???”
What the hell?
She was pushed away, somewhat at a loss.
She could only patiently say, “You should finish your IV drip first. Once it’s done, I’ll call Doctor Jiang for you. Your health is important.”
Right now, Chu Muxi just wanted to be recognized by the Jiang Family, to let them all know the truth. As long as Jiang Nanshu hasn’t regained her memory, she could claim she was the real Jiang Nanshu. Who could tell otherwise?
If she could simply recount the details of the three years she had spent with them, she could turn even a lie into the truth.
Seeing that the nurse insisted on the IV, she yanked the needle out irritably.
Blood spurted in a thin line, staining the white covers.
“Go get my elder brother, I need to talk to him!”
The nurse’s face turned pale at her manner.
And she backed straight out.
Was this not madness?
She had seen Jiang Jingcheng’s sister, who was quite pretty.
And this Miss Chu wakes up and starts screaming that Jiang Jingcheng is her elder brother?
The nurse didn’t look for Jiang Jingcheng, but instead called Chu Xin.
Chu Muxi was still waiting in the ward.

Logically speaking, he had watched her drown without saving her; to see him now and still call him third brother was truly abnormal.

He paused, then continued, “Yesterday…”

Chu Muxi cried first.

Had she forgotten all of yesterday’s memories?
Seeing Jiang Hemian silent, Chu Muxi got up and grabbed his arm, continuing, “Third Brother, look at me closely, I am Nanshu. My body has been taken over by another soul, you have to help me.”
