But inside the Valley of Blood stood some figures facing against each other—fourteen on one side and fourteen on the other.
The people standing here were the heroes and the demon kings. Their presence alone caused the pressure in this desolate place to rise. There was tension in the air as they stood there.

Daegon walked up. He crossed half the distance and stood before the heroes. “It seems you all are dressed for war. I can assume that we are following the code and beginning the war,” Daegon said.
One of the humans stepped out. He was a pretty man—that was the best description of his look. He had blue hair and eyes, he was tall, and he had a feminine-looking face.
He wore gold armor with a black cape on his back. He was the leader of the heroes, the strongest hero of them all. His real name had been forgotten over time, and he was called Storm.
He was the hero of weather. His sword caused storms that destroyed cities in an instant. He was seen as jovial and happy, but when he became serious, it was as though another person had taken over him.
His sword play was beyond what any person could comprehend, he was the greatest sword master.
“Daegon, as much as I would love for there to be peace—to keep what we have had for many years—that demon king candidate of yours has offset that balance.
Losing a hero candidate is beyond what we can accept because the next generation of humans will now be in peril because of him.
Because of the decision that your demon king candidate made, humans will suffer for the next generation. They will be under the foot of you demons. They will be ruled until the generation after that is born.
So forgive us when we have to follow the code. Forgive us that we must fight this war,” Storm said.
“Exactly as Storm has said, you demons have used some means to get the upper hand now—despicable,” a lady with silver hair spoke. She had a small build, but she emanated serious power.
She was the hero of metal—Maze. All metal, no matter the composition, bowed to her will. This legacy was very frightening and powerful.
With a snap of her fingers, she could wipe out an army if they had even a little bit of metal on them.
“It’s not like we are the ones that sent Silva. His will was his,” Daegon said.
“That’s no excuse. A demon king candidate should be under your care and order. He should not be able to do what he wants,” another hero said. He was a bulky-looking man with a low buzz cut and full-body armor.
There was a mighty sword on his back. He was also known by a code name—Stone, the hero of earth. His stomp was terrifying and would send shockwaves through kingdoms.
“You all speak like that because you have never met Silva. White Fang can tell you about him,” Elaine said. All the heroes turned to look at White Fang, who just stood there.
He let out a sigh and then spoke. “Silva is not just a demon king. He is a dark dragon—the most prideful beings to walk the world. And he is of the original families.
Yes, my sister gave birth to him, and that makes him an original. He is an anomaly. I am not saying that what you demons did was right, but I can understand how hard controlling Silva is,” White Fang said.
“Regardless of all that, the code must be followed. There are only a few weeks until the red moon—the awakening of their curses and blessings. This war could not start at a worse period,” Storm said.
“My advice is that we have limited hands in what will happen for the next few weeks. The dragons and the Empire are already heated up for battle. We should let them take the lead in this,” another hero suggested. She was the hero of wind—Anna. She had silky black hair but green eyes. She was dressed as a mage.
“We are yet to finish the research on what has been creating portals and fractures in this world. We should spend our final weeks trying to find that out,” Daegon said.
“Indeed, let’s allow the other races to handle the war. So let us come to an agreement—the heroes and the demon kings will have no hand in the war to come until the baton is passed.
As sad as it is that humans will suffer in the next generation, the code does not allow us to get sentimental over issues like this,” Storm said.
