Ling Yichen was unwilling to be entangled any further in this matter concerning the fifth princess. Although the emperor loved the fifth princess, that didn’t mean he was unable to differentiate between right and wrong. As long as one didn’t actually hurt the fifth princess, then one would be fine. But, if they were to continue being entangled with each other’s affairs as such, it was difficult to guarantee that the fifth princess would not be resentful and look into who they were and what clan they were from. Even if she couldn’t do anything to them directly, she would underhandedly make things difficult for the Ling clan and this was an end neither he nor Ling Chuxi was willing to see.
“Let’s go.” Ling Chuxi naturally understood Ling Yichen’s thoughts and considerations. She nodded and called out a farewell to the elegant young man and was about to leave.
“Wait! Stop right there!” The fifth princess had regained her senses just then and called out to Ling Chuxi loudly.
“Oh, that’s right. Give the antidote to that idiot. If he doesn’t ingest it, he will die of pain or commit suicide as a result of being unable to live with such unbearable pain.” Ling Chuxi halted her steps and dug out a few pills from her bag before rubbing them together and throwing it to the fifth princess with these simple instructions. She thought that the fifth princess held her back to ask for the antidote. Since it wasn’t Ling Chuxi’s intention to have a person simply die like that, she threw the antidote over.
However, it became clear that Ling Chuxi’s line of thought was wrong. What the fifth princess wanted wasn’t the antidote. After she caught the pill, she merely tossed it over to someone behind her then suddenly pounced in Ling Chuxi direction.
Ling Yichen’s face changed and he was about to draw his sword to block the fifth princess’ advance.
However, Ling Chuxi raised a hand to stop Ling Yichen. She could see that there was no murderous intent in fifth princess’ actions and neither did the princess make any small movements indicating she wanted to poison her. Furthermore, the bag in which she kept her poisons was already confiscated by Ling Chuxi. Frankly, even if the fifth princess had wanted to poison her, Ling Chuxi would have remained unbothered.
“Master! Please accept a bow from a disciple!” shouted the fifth princess at an earth-shattering volume as she hugged Ling Chuxi’s thigh tightly.
Ling Chuxi shuddered and was almost shocked to the point of experiencing cramps when she heard the princess’ heart-clenching plea. It didn’t just have this effect on her. Everyone else who was present also almost convulsed.
“What did you just say?” asked Ling Chuxi with a frown as she lowered her head and looked directly at the fifth princess who was still hugging her thigh without any sign of wanting to let go.
“Master! Master! Masterrrr!” The fifth princess raised her head and looked up at Ling Chuxi with bright gleaming eyes while constantly repeating her cringy term of address for Ling Chuxi. She repeated it louder and louder each time until Ling Chuxi found herself shuddering non-stop. The fifth princess’ attendants were all stupefied. What had happened to her highness, the princess? Was her brain damaged after she was hit? But, from what they saw, Ling Chuxi did not hit her head.
However, something even more surprising awaited them.
“Get lost!” yelled Ling Chuxi discourteously. Then she lifted her leg and kicked the fifth princess away in disdain, before wrenching her own thigh free of the fifth princess’ lingering clutches and inviting Ling Yichen to leave quickly.
However! The fifth princess deftly rolled across the ground, right back to Ling Chuxi’s leg and hugged it tightly once again.
The princess’ attendants’ jaws were about to be dislocated at this rate! Whatever happened to their arrogant, haughty princess? Was the sight unfolding before them just an illusion caused by their bad eyesight? The onlookers rubbed their eyes and swore that what they were seeing was real and absolutely not an illusion! The person rolling on the ground was indeed their haughty princess!
“Master, how can you abandon your disciple’s sincere heart like this? Huh? Master, how can you be so cruel?” wailed the fifth princess in a sorrowful and begrudging tone that made her sound like a wife who was being unfairly divorced.
“Enough! Who are you calling your master? Let go! Or else I will beat you till your teeth fall out!” Ling glared at the fifth princess and barked out a fierce scolding.
