Chapter 205: Little White Went Missing
Little White was missing!
Ling Chuxi shuddered. She immediately flipped her blanket aside and got up.
“Little White! Little White!” called out Ling Chuxi continuously as she looked under the bed despite thinking that it was not possible that Little White would be there. Little White had always loved being clean and would never crawl under a bed or go anywhere where it might get dirty. Ling Chuxi did not even bother wearing any shoes in her haste and searched around the house for Little White barefoot.
Not a sign of Little White! Nothing! The whole house did not even have a hint of its figure! Ling Chuxi felt increasingly panicked. Little White was not merely just a pet to her. Little White’s position in her heart was irreplaceable! Even though all the windows were properly closed, Little White was nowhere to be seen anywhere in the entirety of her quarters. Ling Chuxi urgently pushed opened the doors and ran outside.
A chilling wind blew, but it was as though Ling Chuxi did not feel the cold as she searched for Little White all around the courtyard in a panic.
“Little White! Come out quickly, don’t hide anymore. Don’t play around with me like this!” called out Ling Chuxi to Little White anxiously. Her voice even carried a trace of a contained sob. However, Little White still did not appear.
“Chuxi! What are you doing! Why are you wandering around in nightclothes without any coat or shoes on?” reprimanded Ling Yichen worriedly as he immediately rushed over to Ling Chuxi. He had heard Ling Chuxi’s voice and came out to take a look, only to see that she was walking around in the snow barefoot and without even a coat on.
“It’s Little White! Little White is missing! Quick, please help me find Little White!” pleaded Ling Chuxi anxiously when she saw Ling Yichen approaching her.
“Little White is missing?” asked Ling Yichen in a stunned voice. Seeing how anxious Ling Chuxi was, he spoke words of comfort instead, “It’s all right. Don’t panic, Chuxi. Perhaps Little White simply went out for a bit and will return soon. Why don’t you head back inside to layer up and put on some shoes first? You’ll catch a cold otherwise.”
“But will Little White return on its own?” questioned Ling Chuxi, still feeling a little shocked. Little White had disappeared a few times before, but always returned shortly after. It should be the same this time round, right? Ling Chuxi did think as such, but nevertheless, a sense of unease lingered on in her heart. This time, would Little White really return as quickly as it did before?
“Little White will definitely come back to you. Go back inside and put on your shoes and robes first,” said Ling Yichen as he looked at Ling Chuxi in concern. Her face had turned pale from the freezing cold and the sight of it made his heart ache.
Ling Chuxi nodded in a daze and turned around to return to her quarters.
However, Little White did not return quickly like Ling Yichen had said it would. After Ling Chuxi ate her breakfast half-heartedly, Little White still had yet to appear. Ling Chuxi did not have the will to go to the academy and instead waited at home the whole day for Little White to return. However, Little White did not return. When evening came, there was still no Little White.
Ling Chuxi stared off into the night sky as she sat outside where everything was covered in snow and waited patiently for Little White’s return. However, she still did not see Little White! Little White has never disappeared for such a long time before! Could it be that Little White would really not return this time?
In the dark of night and bitingly cold air, Ling Chuxi remained seated by the windowsill in a daze, stubbornly waiting for Little White to return.
“Little White, are you abandoning me?” muttered a despondent-looking Ling Chuxi under her breath in a tone full of desolation and despair.
From up on the loft of the manor, Fu Chengyu and Ling Yichen stood frowning at this scene. “I have asked all the people in the manor and nobody saw the fox coming in or going out,” said Fu Chengyu with a frown.
“That is odd indeed. Where would it have gone? I am very worried about how Chuxi is taking this,” responded Ling Yichen as his brow also furrowed. “That fox is extremely important to her. I am worried that she will be unable to accept such a situation in which the fox does not return. We need to find a way to find Little White.”
