Chapter 196: The Intentions of the Deity’s Servant Girl
After Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen reported to the academy, they realized that both the fifth princess and the Deity’s servant girl, E Shulan were also in the same class as them. A few young men surrounded E Shulan with faces full of adoration and were trying to the best of their abilities to make her smile. Most of the time E Shulan wore a cold and proud expression, however, she would occasionally give them a smile, and this made those few young men very happy.
“What a bunch of idiots,” grumbled the fifth princess softly as she rolled her eyes.
“That’s enough. You are a princess. Don’t simply show how you feel so easily. If there are any matters, just keep them in your heart. Enough already,” said Ling Chuxi to the fifth princes with a smile.
The fifth princess pursed her lips, not making another sound. She really could not get used to seeing people like E Shulan, acting all high and mighty with a look that said, “I’m holy, don’t offend me’. If one were to be direct, wasn’t she just a lackey of the Deity Temple? Hmph!
“What are you pouting so much for?” questioned Ling Chuxi as she looked over at the fifth princess feeling tickled. She knew that the fifth princess was very unhappy inside, so she lowered her head and said to her in a soft voice, “Let me give you an example. If you are very dissatisfied with someone and you always express it so clearly, if something ever happened to that person, who would be the first suspect? It would be you. But, if you act friendly all the time, even if you secretly gave her trouble, no one would suspect you. If you can make even her, the person directly causing your displeasure, not suspect you, then you would have truly succeeded.”
The moment the fifth princess heard this advice, her eyes lit up and she looked at Ling Chuxi with a gaze that was starry-eyed and worshipful. Then she replied in a soft voice, “Master, I understand what you mean. I know what to do in the future.”
Ling Yichen who was listening from the side felt the corners of his lips twitching nonstop. From his perspective, after the fifth princess began following Ling Chuxi, she also became a red bean bun. Appearing white and pure on the outside, but actually black on the inside! Thinking about it, since the black-bellied Ling Chuxi was the one teaching the fifth princess, how could she possibly have turned out otherwise?

“What—” The fifth princess was just about to say, “what does that have to do with you”, when she suddenly recalled Ling Chuxi’s teachings. So, she switched to a smile and said instead, “Oh, of course Imperial Father and Consort Mother know. They were also urging me to bring my master to the palace to meet them. Well, Lord Deity’s Servant, if there is nothing else, I’ll make a move first.”
“Oh, all right then,” replied E Shulan, still in a bit of an absentminded state. She was a little unaccustomed to the fifth princess not showing some colors of how she really felt about her directly to her face.
When the fifth princess, Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen had walked some distance away, E Shulan retracted her gaze. The bunch of boys hanging around by her side smiled and one of them asked her, “Lord Deity’s servant, what do you wish to eat? I will go and buy it for you immediately.”
“Oh, anything,” replied indifferently E Shulan as she put on her airs of being high and mighty.
The man who asked the question heard E Shulan reply as such so he smiled and nodded before rushing off to buy her some food. E Shulan walked slowly to the canteen. The moment she entered the canteen, she saw the fifth princess’ group sitting near a corner. The fifth princess was serving Ling Chuxi and helping her pick some dishes at the exact moment E Shulan was observing them.
‘Who is that young maiden?’ wondered E Shulan to herself. She had only really paid attention to Ling Chuxi right at this moment. It seemed as though the fifth princess obeyed all the words this young maiden said. Perhaps she should start her plans beginning with this young maiden?
