The warning from Carmen, along with her concern toward Xu Feng irked Hundred Ghost slightly.
He was displeased and felt humiliated for being ignored.
He quickly turned his attention to Xu Feng and warned, "Hey brat. Our matter is with her, so if you don't want to be implicated, then you should leave now."
Naturally, Hundred Ghost's warning was a complete lie. As if he was going to let Xu Feng leave peacefully now that they had revealed themselves.
He merely wanted to toy with the latter and make Carmen realize how much of a coward she chose her companion to be.
Of course, Xu Feng would be a fool to believe any of his wordings, but the same could not be said for Carmen.
"Feng, you should just leave," Carmen whispered softly, a panicked expression on her face. "That Hundred Ghost is level 8 and his gears are all Uncommon. He will really kill you back down to level 0 if you mess with him."
"Oh, are you concerned for me?" Xu Feng mused, feigning ignorance of the situation.
"Why are you doing this?" Exasperated, Carmen wondered if Xu Feng really thought he could handle the enemy.
Sure, he was an expert, but it was too much against Hundred Ghost, Eagle Snipe, and his other 8 companions.
She had personally witnessed those who claimed to be an expert and tried to help her out, only to end up hating and cursing her.
Having teamed up with Xu Feng, she didn't want him to start hating and cursing her.
"Stop worrying about it and stand behind me." Xu Feng smiled calmly.
"Let me show you one of the benefits of joining my future guild." He added, taking a step forward and staring into Hundred Ghost's eyes.
Instantaneously, Hundred Ghost's expression turned colder. "So, I guess you really want to play the hero saving the damsel in distress."
"Pfft," Xu Feng suddenly laughed, nearly dying from Hundred Ghost's ridiculous comment.
"What's so funny?"
On the verge of fuming, Hundred Ghost wanted to know what was so funny to him. At the same time, his mind began simulating the torture he would unleash on this bastard.
"Funny? You should open a circus for the clown jokes, Hundred Ghost." Xu Feng was wheezing and continued, "If she's the damsel in distress and I'm the hero, then you're the typical villain that meets their karma."
"PFFT" Even the initially worried Carmen couldn't help but giggle at Xu Feng's remark.
As for Jeff, he laughed the loudest, even clapping his hands in amazement.
After all, he felt zero fear against the 10 unknown people that were ambushing them. In fact, he was quite eager to kill them already, but seeing how Xu Feng hadn't said anything, he decided to wait and see.
Sure enough, his decision was great, given how much Xu Feng had just humiliated the enemies.
Meanwhile, veins started bulging out from Hundred Ghost's forehead, his blood boiling. "Kill him! I want him to go back to level 0 and restart his damn account!"
Shortly after, Hundred Ghost's subordinates aside from Eagle Snipe started to cast their spells. Some of them even started shouting their spell names.
'What a bunch of retards.' Xu Feng sneered inwardly. Only a retard would announce their spell names loudly when they could have just cast them silently to prevent leaking any information about what they are trying to do.
"You're dead meat!" Hundred Ghost grinned menacingly, gleeful at the inactions of Xu Feng. He deduced his inactions for being frightened and was now regretting his stinky mouth of speaking out.
However, Hundred Ghost couldn't be more wrong as Xu Feng turned to Jeff and said two simple words."
"Do it."
A grin flashed on Jeff, and before the enemies could even comprehend, he swung his battle axe so swiftly and fiercely, instantly decimating all the enemies in a single strike.
"W-What the?" Carmen's eyes widened in complete shock, clearly startled by Jeff's prowess. She couldn't fathom the scene before her that she had to rub her eyes numerous times to confirm that the enemies haunting her had been killed just like that.
"Jeff is a bona fide expert who could easily kill these dummies in a single strike, Carmen." Xu Feng calmly explained, walked forward, and gave a kick at Hundred Ghost's corpse.
"Jeff, when can you use Dominion Rend again?" He asked, his gaze remained on the Hundred Ghost.
"I can still use it two more times before needing 20 seconds," Jeff explained, revealing that he could use it 3 consecutive times before needing to wait.
"Oh?" Surprised, Xu Feng didn't expect he could still use it 2 more times. "That's perfect then."
"Why?" Carmen asked, seemingly confused.
However, the next moment, she realized what Xu Feng meant.
Without hesitation, Xu Feng cast Revive, resurrecting Hundred Ghost.
As soon as Hundred Ghost was resurrected, he took a few steps back, his eyes filled with horror as he gazed at Jeff.
"W-W-Who are you?" He stutteringly said, pointing at Jeff. "How dare you mess with the Reaver Guild? Don't you know the consequences of such actions?"
"Wow, this Hundred Ghost is more stupid than I initially thought." Xu Feng murmured, failing to comprehend how the current Hundred Ghost was way different than the one in his memory.
To threaten an NPC, much less one that was under the Mercenary Association was a completely suicidal move.
Although the Mercenaries under the association are competitors in a sense, that doesn't mean they were not united.
In fact, they were all united if one dared to threaten a mercenary for no apparent reason, especially when they weren't the ones that provoked others.
"Reaver Guild?" Jeff laughed in amusement.
"Even if you are part of the Adventure Guild, you will have to bend in front of the Mercenary Association." He sneered and without another word, he swung his battle axe yet again.
"Wai—"
Before Hundred Ghost could even finish a word, he was killed, losing a level in the process and more equipment dropped.
